Cub Cadet Customer Service NIGHTMARE
Cub Cadet mower customer service is horrendous! Excel should be ashamed of the way they conduct their warranty service and it needs reorganized from scratch. I bought a battery operated/ 56V electric 42 inch rider and have called Cub Cadet/MTD customer service 17 times in 2 months wait on hold 45 min to be hung up on almost every time then what the customer service warranty rep says is useless because they don't follow up or do what they say and then someone else changes everything over and over dropping the ball with a attitude after you spend half a day on hold trying to talk to a customer service rep! If somebody treated them the same way they treat their customers they might understand how disrespectful and unprofessional their company does business! Rob and Jacob are hateful and have really screwed me around with a poor attitude. Even their authorized warranty service providers say they are a hot mess while laughing about how they are chasing customers away with the same sentiment over and over...I don't know how much longer they can stay in business conducting such inept warranty support. It is beyond words that their right hand never knows what the left hand has said or is doing...run from anything Excel Stanley Decker or MTD produces because they have a don't give a darn attitude without any pride or shame on maybe the most awful customer service that I have experienced from any American company period--just beyond even putting it in the context of words!
RUN from them because your nightmare will start and continue until you rid yourself of the games that persist as business as usual with a saga like the Jerry Springer show....Ridiculous!
Never buy a cub cadet
Bought a brand new zero turn cub cadet from tractor supply. After 2hrs of mowing the main drive belt came off and I was told from cub cadet they would not replace the mower it would take 3 weeks for it to be looked at! Very poor customer service! Warranty is no good! I just paid $4,000.00 dollars and they won't exchange my lemon! Tractor supply is a 5 star! They will return my tractor and give me a full refund so I can buy another brand that will stand behind there product! I have less than 2hrs of mowing and they expect me to send it for repairs! $4,000.00 and they won't exchange it! Never buy a cub cadet or have anything good to say about there company policies!

An amazing product with no issues and is a work horse to say the least.
My unit has 6 speeds and I can’t go beyond 2. If I do…the unit will drag me down the driveway !!!

purchased a 42' cadet from home depot it has given me problems from 2nd week only 2 yrs old its been in the shop 3 times so far it leaked oil smokes a true piece of junk .CUSTOMER BEWARE DO NOT BUY THIS BRAND YOU WILL BE SORRY ,NEVER AGAIN .
Have a BC280 line trimmer
Have a BC280 line trimmer. The trimmer kept ejecting the line. I bought a new cutting head, thinking mine was worn out. The new cutting head is also ejecting the line. I have tried 3 different sizes of line and different lengths. The design of the cutting head is extremely poor and the company doesn't even have a place to post this. You would be better off buying a Walmart line trimmer than the high priced Cub Cadet version.
Unreliable, unusable, poor home office tech assist
I purchased Cub Cadet's most expensive zero-turn mower, because I have a sloped property and the sales people said that this mower had a solid iron transmission and could handle the additional load. Major misdirection - this mower is not built for anything other than flat golf-course grass. After 65 hours of use the major ball bearings that transferred engine power to the blades were totally wiped and the entire housing had to be changed out. Then, the machine would run for 5 to 20 minutes, the PTO would cut out and the engine would shut down. After FOUR visits to the dealer's service department, we found that there is a very poorly-designed switch inside the seat to cut off the blades and engine if the operator gets out of the seat - a totally worthless safety interlock. The thought was that the switch was bad. They changed out the sensor, and the problem remained. The home office technical rep then had the audacity to claim that the problem was MY fault for driving over bumps too fast and other BS excuses. So, obviously the machine is not designed for uneven ground. They recommended changing out the entire wiring harness, for $500, and even then would not guarantee the problem would be fixed. Of course, since it was "my" fault, they would not cover repairs under the warrantee. Bottom line is that I have a $6000 machine that I can use for ten minutes, it then randomly shuts down, and then have to wait for an hour for it to reset or cool down or do whatever it wants to do to reset itself so it will restart and run for another 10 minutes. My bottom line is that I am very disappointed in this purchase: other issues are that the transmission is jerky, the mulching feature clogs repeatedly, the seat is misplaced for anyone taller than a six-year-old, and I cannot open the drain line to change the oil, it is jammed shut. I was looking at a John Deere machine originally, but was convinced by a salesman that the CC was a better option for my property. I wish I could trade this lemon in for something that is reliable.
Update: the problem was a seat relay that senses whether the driver is in the seat, and shuts the machine off if the brake is not on. This evidently is to prevent the machine from driving off by itself if the throttle is in the constant speed setting and the driver falls off. The fix was to place a large piece of carboard over the surface of the seat to better depress the switch. The folks at the local dealership were good in pursuing the problem, but Cub Cadet's home office was an epic fail. I am posting this in case other people encounter a similar problem.

Terrible Customer Service Model
First, love my cub cadet mower. That said, their customer service model is terrible. I can't comment on the actual service because I can't seem to get service at all. You can't email them. The online chat spontaneously ends. And after 6 attempts to reach by phone I finally get a person, get put on hold, and no one returns. Pressed "5" for a callback which hung up on me when I answered.
So, if you buy a cub cadet expect to find a 3rd party for parts and service.
XR2 - a disappointment.
I purchased a XR2 robot mower last autumn so this season is my first proper experience. Most of the time it works OK and cuts grass. However, since the beginning of the mowing season there have been niggles which is disappointing. Even now, it doesn't aways connect to its mobile phone app. I knew when I bought it that it was an expensive way to mow my lawn. It would probably be worth it financially for a property with very big lawns where accompanied mowing takes a couple of hours or more. Overall though, I'm disappointed. The local agent has done his best but I don't think they have sufficient experience of the product as yet. Maybe this is a product that needs more time to iron out problems. I certainly couldn't recommend it on the basis of my experience.
