I cannot say enough good things about this app or the people behind it. As a "newbie" on a proper health and wellness journey,this has everything you could ever want just short of hiring a nutritionist or a trainer. It tracks your food and macros. Gives great workouts and schedules while also tracking reps and sets. The best part for me has been the AI feature. Has answered all questions and concerns. Its almost like having a coach you can talk to anytime. Would recommend this to anybody looking to better their health. Also the customer service has been outstanding which is an added bonus!

I really love the program because I feel like it combines all of the things I have been looking for in a program/app. Specifically, its so easy to use, has helped me build muscle over time, and I really like how I can also track food. I have tried quite a few apps and a lot I felt I couldn't measure the micro weight changes I was using, didn't have workouts that changed based on my specific goals, and the calorie counting felt a bit unhealthy - with BWS I just feel like its all pretty intuitive.

I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with your subscription and refund policy. While I understand that you offer a 14-day trial period, I find it misleading and unfair that if a customer forgets to cancel their subscription within that timeframe, they are charged a full $189 for the entire year. What is even more frustrating is that there is very little visibility or clear communication about the automatic charge for the full yearly subscription, making it easy for users to overlook the cancellation deadline.

Now, because I missed the 14-day window, I am unable to receive a refund, as your policy strictly enforces this timeframe. I believe this policy is unreasonable, especially considering that there is no clear reminder or warning about the potential full-year charge. It feels like users are set up to fail in canceling on time, and the lack of transparency is concerning.

I had cancelled my plan. However, due to the lack of accesibility in the customer portal, it had cancelled the second cycle, not my first cycle, meaning I am stuck in for the 189$ subscription for “Built with Science.”

Just be careful, in the end I had received my refund.

Downloaded the app and set up a plan. The payment is taken before the password set up, and the app crashed when the “set password” window popped up.
Due to this, I thought that the app didn’t create an account. Tried to log in on the app, didn’t work, so I created ANOTHER account and set up another payment scheme. Same thing happened.
Turns out, when I checked my email, I had to fiddle with the buttons to get to the actual password set up on safari, instead of it jumping to the App Store the moment I clicked on the “password set up” button.
So, if I couldn’t have figured it out, I would have been charged over $200 for two separate accounts.

Just put me off of using the app, cancelled it immediately.
Shame because if the app worked better or allowed for accounts to be set up previous to the payment, I wouldn’t have been discouraged.

I’ve been using the app for about 9 weeks now and have had great results. I’ve lost about 12 lbs and have gone from ~25% body fat to ~20%. The meal tracker is easy to use, and the meal scan AI helps a lot when eating out. The workouts are well laid out with good form videos for reference. I’m doing the fat loss program so focused on maintaining a calorie deficit and strength training. I like that you can eat whatever you want as long as you’re hitting your total calorie target and macros, especially protein intake. I’m admittedly no stranger to the gym and have a decent home setup, so it was easy for me to get started. I also like that you can make swaps for exercises if for instance, like me, you need to accommodate a wonky back. Overall it’s been great for me.

I downloaded the app, after few minutes I cancelled the membership and uninstall the app. After 2 weeks they charged me for the whole year because if you delete account your membership is still active.

Be aware of this!
I contacted them and they will refund me.
I am very happy for this customer service.
Additionally, I separately bought a meal plan and I am very happy with it as well.

I’ve tried all the apps, the programs, the diets. Though I reached goals, it wasn’t sustainable and eventually I was back at square one. This app has really helped me keep a routine, which is what I needed, especially working shift work with little kids. I choose how many days I can work out, and the days can be different every week. The calorie range is decent, so an extra snack or treat won’t put you over the edge. There is a lot of suggested meals in the nutrition guide that aren’t plain. I have gotten exponentially stronger, and there is an option to switch out exercises if you develop knee/shoulder pain, like I have. Yeah, it costs a lot of money, but it’s worth it for me because it fits into my life.

I've been following BWS for a few years now and I've had good results.
I also paid for a one time meal plan and it was perfect for me and my issues.
It was not bland chicken and rice as many other programs I had tried adviced me. It had very tasty meals with sauces and lots of fruits. I had lost my mealplan and even after 4 years they emailed it back to me without any problems.

side note: I am a transman and they are inclusive towards queer people.

So, just received a message that the “built with science team” had repeatedly reached out to me. This is a completely false statement. Their customer service is not worth talking about. They will eventually run out of money if they don’t deal with their customers correctly.

I signed up for a two-week trial but didn’t like the app’s layout and barely used it. Unfortunately, I forgot to cancel before the trial ended and was charged £229. I immediately requested a refund, but Jo from Built With Science refused, stating it was my responsibility to cancel in time.

I find this to be terrible customer service. They can clearly see I haven’t used the app, yet they refuse to show any goodwill. It feels like a money trap rather than a genuine service. I’m now out of pocket for something that doesn’t even suit my needs—another example of a greedy corporate company putting profits over people.

Everything looks great until you sign up. Then you are of no interest to them. They will not provide you with customer support or help you in any way, and forget about getting a refund.

They promise to provide workouts that can be performed in under an hour, but that's not true--even their "30 minute" version takes at least two hours by the time you change the weight plates, the mandatory warm up sets, etc. The links to the demos for good form didn't work after I downloaded the workout tracker--and customer service could not care less. No help in getting them fixed.

I am in trial still but I really like what I experienced so far. In a week I managed to lose a kg, amazing.
Both nutrition tracking and workout routine is easy to use and helps a lot. It helped me to correct my form on bench press and yesterday I worked out without shoulder pain. Definitely recommend!

I do not recommend it. The workout plan is nice, but you're basically paying for a bunch of PDFs that are really inconvenient to use and some excel templates to track progress, which you can much easier track on Hevy or Strong apps. Also, did not appreciate that they now launched an app, which was a severe lacking feature of their offering, but require you to pay an extra subscription, even if you purchased premium bundles in the past.

Find something else. Really a pitty, I thought they'd respect more their fan/client base.

I’ve been using the intermediate program for around 4 years and have put on a reasonable amount of muscle. I’m no where near some of the advertising used - but I did find the workouts and information very useful as someone with some gym experience.

I did have a bit of success with the nutrition spreadsheet too. However I did find I became very strict with my eating and had to step back. Saying that I’ve just started back on the spreadsheet (which is a little clunky to use) to shred some weight off with some more realistic goals.

Bought the 7 day trial for the annual BWS+ plan, downloaded on my IPAD, set up email and password, went through the entire process and at the last stage it froze. Cannot get a code to get into my account and the website is not allowing me in to cancel. At the moment I’m on the hook for $189 US for a plan I can’t access or cancel.

The customer service is AMAZING. I bought the LEAN program instead of the STRONG program on accident. Emailed their support team and a sweet lady fixed it within the same day! Highly recommend.

Great to start working out with. Thanks to Ethier, I went from being a deskplant that had no endurance, nor strength, nor mental stability while being very overweight to a gym lover that finds his peace while working out, that lost 30kg in total.

Although I had to switch to a gym that checked my posture and everything - their work out plans are solid to prepare you for the real workouts. It's a little expensive but it has the full package to help you get into the gym. From routines to decent explanations on what you need to focus while doing the exercises and even bonus sections about not to fear gym intimidation.

I think I can thank them for discovering the ability to live a better life.
