This is truly disruptive service in software segment which is very useful for non-tech entrepreneur like me. I earlier had very bad experience with other developers who used to charge on hourly basis without transparency on completion of work. Features based pricing model of Builder.AI is very transparent & convenient for people like me...

After numerous delays, I have yet to receive 50%, although they have got 50% of the payments (around 18,000 Euro).

A random person claimed my project (this person is not in the contract nor a contact person), causing my project to be blocked.

I had a meeting with Builder ai "legal department" (Mr. Andy) .... I provided them with all the contracts we signed together (Myself and builder ai), bank statements, a whole year of conversations with their representatives to no avail.

It has been over three months with no answer from the company, although they keep sending me emails to complete my payments. How can you ask me to complete the fee when blocking my project (Mr.Vikram)? In addition, refusing to recognize me (the person you signed a contract with and made the payments) as the owner.

I caution anyone to work with them; as of this moment, I've only lost money with them with nothing to show. I'm also losing money to legal costs, as I will be going through the legal routes to protect my assets.

Utter unprofessionalism: no matter how many emails or WhatApp messages I send, I get no answer from their sales team, project manager, legal team and operation team. In fact, they try to dodge me as much as possible, and the get mad when I display anger towards the situation. (Mr. Kushank, Rhythm, Andy, and Nishtha)

In all honesty, this has been the worst experience I have had so far; I've lost money, I have no working application to show, and I feel like I'm begging them to do what they are paid and hired to do.

Everything they have been displaying or not displaying is a problem. There is no trust relationship anymore between me (the client) and the company. I advise all not to trust them at all.

EDIT 17th Feb, 2022: Builder ai COO contacted me via email to arrange a meeting to solve this issue, I am still waiting for them to setup the meeting.

We've also associated ourselves with Builder Cloud platform which has made our job easy for managing cloud infrastructure.

Excellent team work, we feel the team is part of our organisation and helping us with the development of our apps. Atulya and Shaheen have been a great help.

We wasted months with this company and ended up with nothing. While in the beginning everything looked great and we were excited to work with Builder.ai, it didn’t take long before designing issues started to arise and additional costs started piling up.
Our major gripe with Builder.ai is who owns the actual code of the app. We were told, and it’s on their website that the customer owns the code – however that’s not actually true. As they work on building blocks they own the code which is “delivered to the customer under License” which is clearly written in their contracts. When we questioned them about this they just talked in circles but the bottom line is we didn’t own the code.
Unfortunately we still decided to give them a shot and provided them the design we had, signed the contract, they gave us a statement of work and we paid the down payment. At this point they decided the work we had wasn’t enough and said we had to now add a design phase which was a huge expense, or we could outsource the work. We chose the latter because it was considerably cheaper and had the file done in XD format (as per their instructions). Problem is once we delivered this to Builder they said they needed it in sketch file but they could convert it for us – at a cost of thousands of dollars. They also decided that a number of functionalities for the app weren’t included and they would have to add that to the cost of development. As we had a contract that covered most of the additional functionalities they had to cover those, but the cost was still going to increase considerably with what we had to pay for. In my experience, they either don’t quote accurately in the first place and once your committed then these costs happen to come to light, or they don’t actually look at your design before quoting the product – either way this led to huge headaches for my company. We had many conversations with Builder via zoom where we had discussed all of these issues, who owns the code, the design format etc. where they record the meetings. My advice to anyone brave enough to work with Builder.ai is to make your own recordings to protect your company!!! We asked for a copy of the recording which they flatly denied and said they would provide minutes of the meeting which was total crap and only had superficial information that wasn’t relevant.
Paying Builder.ai was another nightmare!. We paid the first installment by credit card and that was it….. there is no way to delete the card details if you want to pay another way. We tried to delete the card as our project was on hold and yet they still attempted multiple times to charge our card. We sent email after email to delete the card from their website, and just kept getting brushed off. This resulted in us being charged an installment even after the contract was dissolved and the details are still on the website even today – we have literally had to block the card through the bank.
In our experience builder.ai is just a pretty website that cannot deliver what they promise.

The team at Builder have been very supportive and helped me at every stage of the development. The project has run longer than expected but that was largely due to a third party integration that was held up by the other side. However as promised at the outset there has been no additional cost. They have also been kind enough to make design changes that came through late in the project. As a non techie they have helped enormously with providing of services and gone through it step by step.

The idea of social media is a wonderful way to connect with others. It has been in existence for years and we are all thankful for the connection it provides us with. Social media sites have come and gone but now there is something that will be here forever! The team is dedicated and efficient in their working. I had tried few other platforms and engaged with them concerning the development of an application whereas none can be compared with Builder.ai in terms of the quality and ease of working. The PM and the whole team right from the moment you approach them are thorough professionals and people know what they are doing.

The app is still in development, and they are truly helping me convert my idea into reality.

Continuation - 20.10.2021 - I had provided the above review during the start of the app development in July. However, I now realise that I was under a drastically wrong impression. Everything is hunky and dory at the start of the development process, however it all went down the drain once the time to deliver the app came.

My app is currently more than 2 months delayed. I have to run around and approach the team lead to raise my concerns now. There are various professional issues:

1) Personally speaking, my app has only two features and I have yet not received a single complete feature.

2) The PM will not inform you prior to any extension.

3) The modus Operandi seems to be to blame the client for the delays, and where you can't blame the client then there the team starts ignoring your messages. (They can even deny coming on a call with you by citing that they are "too busy")

4) I have yet not gotten a release which can be termed as complete. The team might even emphasise that "at least you are given 50% of the feature" "aisa toh nahi ki humne kuch bhi nahi diya". (As if I should be happy in getting an incomplete feature despite various extensions.)

Highly disappointing experience, and I shall change by rating from 5 stars to a 1 star.

Shall update this review, when the development completes.

Update: 8.01.2022 Hi everyone. The app is still in development. Guess what, I did request for a PM change in 2021 but that didn't happen. Please answer the following questions for me and for your own self:

1) Do you want tested releases?
2) Do you want your PM to convey the feedbacks to the developers in time?
2) Do you want to be informed about any delay prior to the delay instead on the day of the release of the build?
3) Do you want an alternative contact in case your PM goes on leave?
4) Do you want the data which you fill to be secure?
5) Do you atleast want a reply from your PM?

Well if your answer to the above questions is "yes" then do some yagya or proper prayers of your beliefs before engaging builder.ai services. Just pray that you don't get a team which I got.

I have got untested release, the feedbacks were not communicated to the developers, I was never informed about delay prior to the delay, got incomplete releases, and the PM used to go on leave without informing the point of contact. Further, my data which was filled got vanished and I am not even informed that I will not get a release on a pre decided date. Alas! I have to just keep sitting for the release.

I have already lost an investor because of the build which they sent me which didn't work during the presentation. Guess what? The build was scheduled at a particular time. The PM went offline before it, (I had told her how important the build is for me) and I was left in a lurge in front of the investors for hours.

I would have loved to attach screenshots of my messages being ignored, being left unanswered, and emails not even getting acknowledged. Would've loved to show how I as a client is left begging for a response from my own team and how I am compelled to run around to get a single response.

Let me narrate another incident. I was scheduled to receive my final build by this week. The build was scheduled for Wednesday. Then Wednesday became Thursday and on Thursday I was told that I will be getting my build on Friday.

On Friday, I categorically messaged the team that I am expecting the build by EOD today and please specially cater to the following so and so feedbacks. I even specifically told the PM to tell me if there are any obstacles. Do you know what response I got from the team? None. Niet. Nothing. Shunya. Did I get the build? Nope. It seems that there is no ETA of the build.

Most basic professional etiquette calls for you to atleast respond to the client.
However, unfortunately, lack of basic etiquette from the PM has been the biggest obstacle in getting my dream of getting an app fulfilled.

I don't blame the whole of builder.ai. The ceo (Sachin) and the head of delivery (Kushank) has been responsive. But I believe that they are far away from reality on ground and hence are not quite grasping the gravity of the situation.

Because of the lack of most basic thing such as communication with client and Devs (the primary work of the PM), my dream is yet to be fulfilled.

I just want my build and basic communication.

Builder.ai was the right fit for us, and we were happy with the quality of the product and their services.

We have created CRM systems and Mobile Apps for our Vending machine enterprise with Builder.AI. Also they setup our cloud for ease server operations.

The approach is quite unique and easy when it comes to work in environment and process setup by them even if you are not from technical background.

There PM team representative takes responsibility of development and implementing what you want to build in a software.

We have build with them

CRM: To manage Inventory, Staff management and generate report.

Operator app: Android App to manage inventory per vending machine and get alerts on cash collections and low inventory.

Consumer app: Consumer app to implement snacks, cookies, chocolate and beverages ordering.

The agile method to release build to client first, discuss feedback on regular basis, implement required changes and then release next built until the client
is completely satisfied is commendable and keeps you at ease.

I came across few companies while researching for web designing and app development and builder.ai was one such agency that was quick in connecting with me to understand my needs and assist in getting connected with the technical team to start the project.
The team at Builder.ai was able to take up my project very professionally and gave me several options to choose upon to start the project. The project is currently under development and looking forward to having the mobile app and web page released soon. So far, I am really happy with the progress though there are few delays due to several changes in the requirement and on top with the current lockdown and work from home situation it’s not always the same result one can expect. However, I am expecting the project to speed up and see results quickly.
The experience so far with builder.ai is quite satisfactory and the focal point and project managers are quite attentive and reachable. This is truly a sign of good customer service.

Builder.ai is a group of people who would help you achieve the things which arent possible to the common people who do not have knowledge about programming. More over they make sure they break down all the points and make them understandable to common people.

I came across builder.ai while researching about agencies who can help me build my ecommerce website and android/ios application.
The first thing that impressed me was their ability to break down a piece of software no matter how complex, in small understandable and measurable entities. Web/app development is a very fuzzy space where you can get completely different quotes for the same development from different agencies. Having the ability to break it down in terms of feature list is a big relief for customers like us.

I am really happy with the way they have understood my requirements and helped me scope my project. That truly shows that they do care for their customers.

My project is currently under development and looking forward to having an awesome product really soon.

I have worked with quite a few development agencies and i would recommend builder very high for their quality and customer support.

Builder.ai started off strong with an eager team and great concept. Then the team changed... several times... falling behind schedule in the process. When the final payment had been made they were only half done. They immediately removed the project manager leaving me to deal directly with an overseas programmer who had been given inadequate spending approval. The project is currently more than a year behind schedule and, based on the programmers schedule, will be done more than 2 years late once complete.

The promised outreach in the company response never happened, still awaiting any contact from Builder.ai.

From just making the enquiry, I was in contact with a great guy called Graeme. Spoke with him a few times and made me feel extremely positive and reassuring about working with Builder.ai. Apps are not cheap but assured me the vision I want would be completed. Then was allocated a project manager called Kushank. He was extremely helpful in the development of my app, he even brought some great ideas which enhanced my app. Ive had a great experience from start to finish.

(good points)
- We were able to build an application that could achieve the initial UX without the need for detailed screen design, application structure and database design.
- As we had no experience in building smartphone applications, it was very helpful to have suggestions on screen design and screen transitions.
(Points to be improved)
- I thought I would be able to see the project progress in BuilderStudio every week, but that's not what I experienced in this case. We didn't ask them to make any changes because we had set the project management unit too large, and it was a short-term project. We would like to experience it next time.
(What we want to try)
- The agile way to proceed is to release it to users first. Can we use builder.ai to develop the app while fixing bugs and adding and improving features after release? If it's available, will it be supported by builderCare or within the scope of normal PJs? We had imagined here that it would be an agile way to proceed again, and we would like to refer to it in the future.

I had very high hopes to start a brand and establish my company on an e-commerce platform by October 2019 .

I planned to go with builder.ai to develop my website and expected the best results for my website .. The truth is guys “ IT WAS THE WORST DECISION I EVER MADE IN MY LIFE “

According to the company claims , I was supposed to get my website ready by March 2020 , but guess what , I got the website by mid June . That took only 50 % ..
I had ordered the designing , and various back end features , which was promised to get delivered , but I got only the front end ready by mid June 2020 . When I asked about the backend on the day they delivered front end , they said we will start the work now . It’s the end of august and still I have no clue .

Thanks to some of my friend , I completely dropped this project Abd started my site on shopify .

Guys , these are the problems I faced

1 ) Builder will call you twice or thrice a week , before the deposit amount is wired , after that , it’s your duty .

2 ) The team here , usually will blame the issues on you .. If you don’t have a programming knowledge , good luck to get screwed .

3 ) It’s been almost 5 months now , I have completed my payment , but still didn’t receive my deposit . Even after reminding them 10-20 times .

4 ) To get an access to my front end , I asked the builder team to give me a temporary solution for server , and then I went with builder cloud ( partners of AWS ) . Now when I asked them to give me the source code and shift it to other server , they tell me that it’s against their policy ..previously they agreed to place the website in any server.
They say we have included in the terms and condition . I have fallen victim to it . Whoever is reading this , guys builder cloud is very expensive , and it will empty your pockets before you know it.. just for testing the bugs in my site . It costed me nearly 8000/- per month , just image what will happen if you have traffic ,.

Guys I can go on and on , but I think you must have got my point ..

I would suggest to go with magneto , shopify or hire a in a house full stack developer to get a custom site , it will cost you far less than what builder would charge , with an added benefit of having full control on your site ..

Please choose wisely .

We are just getting going with our QA phade of the project and i would like to commend the team for a job well done, we had a complex project with a lot of contraints and the team have been both flexible and fast, working long hours to ensure we recover time. The assigned project manager for the 'yellow' build was particularly knowledgable and brought new insight into our discussions enabling us get the best outcomes out of our design discussions, they had practical tips to add to our own thinking. we've always debated the value of outsourcing development and this team has demonstrated that thought through well, this model can work, extending your capabilities as an organization. i would recommend them any day.

I am nearing my completion of the project and I must say the team associated with me has done a great job , I am happy so far with the development and outcome as I envisioned.. They contribute in your ideas and also provide solutions foreseeing Future possibilities..
The best part is that we can successfully implement by sitting completely in different locations.. the platforms used for communication and coordination are really easy to use for non tech guys as well.
I would recommend them as they provide a great and prompt service!
