I have applied for multiple roles through Brook Street plus emailing one of the local branches regarding vacancies. They do not bother to respond to their emails, nor do they communicate to you whether you are a successful or unsuccessful candidate. It is already gruelling being a job searcher in this job market. I’m not sure if they’re a front for something and actually have people working there but this is shambolic. It is not fair on potential candidates.

Im now receiving emails for a lad called Daniel.....I am Not this person....or it must be due to the "oh so qualified" people you have working for you....this is a DPA breach to send me things in regards to someone else

Really great communication on email & very friendly and helpful agency - going the extra mile to check that I have settled down in my new role with regular check-ins. I would like/prefer being able to have a direct number to call with payroll/timesheet assistance but when I called the general number, Brook St have always been very helpful. The offboarding was also made easier, again, personally, by knowing that I could call a number to speak to that person. There is nothing better than the human touch! Overall, really impressive and accommodating - thank you! Nadia

Very disappointing experience
I spoke to Charlie regarding a Facilities & Compliance Officer role. Having worked in recruitment at Hays for nearly four years, I called because I know applications can get lost in a sea of CVs. I simply wanted to introduce myself and check the vacancy was still available.
Unfortunately, I found Charlie very dismissive. My compliance and construction experience, along with my IOSH qualification, were relevant to the job description, which did not state that previous facilities experience was essential. I was told there were 174 applications and the client could “cherry pick” who they wanted, and that it “wouldn’t work out”.
I understand employers can choose their preferred candidate, but the conversation felt rushed, with no offer to keep my details on file for other suitable roles.
As someone who has worked in recruitment, I expected a more professional and courteous experience. I would encourage employers to consider how candidates are treated, particularly when their experience is relevant to the advertised role.

Absolutely abysmal communication, you get no feedback whether your applications for jobs have been passed to the relevant employers and if you are a Forces Veteran take what ever they say with a pinch of salt, they are not bothered about you, its all just a recruitment gimmick and sales pitch for them

My wife went a very long time without getting paid correctly, and this month (25th Sept 2026) she didn't get paid at all. It's almost impossible to get in contact with anyone to discuss the issues. Definitely would not recommend.

PLEASE READ. Started my application in June and had my interview which was cancelled and rescheduled. I then had to provide some details and complete a security check. My application got randomly cancelled due to the terrible communication of the agency which is constant. At the end of waiting around for 3 months I got told that a candidate in that position was no longer needed. Only took the company 3 months to tell me. Dont bother absolute time wasters with terrible communication.

I’ve had two poor experiences with Brook Street. I have found the whole on boarding to be really quite impersonal and cold. Fact how it goes fast to say that candidates are treated like cattle rather than being treated like valuable human beings.

Colleen was efficient and communicated perfectly with me to make the whole process easy. Would highly recommend to anyone.
Thanks Katie

I would caution anyone considering working through Brook Street to think carefully.
The pre-employment checks were unnecessarily difficult and intrusive. They required both professional and personal references, which can be difficult depending on individual circumstances. Worse, the supposed "personal reference" was subsequently treated as a professional reference with questions about my previous employment. That is not what I understand a personal reference to be.
Unfortunately, the problems did not end once I started working.
During my employment, I experienced pay problems. I was aware of incorrect payments affecting myself and colleagues including errors involving wages, holiday pay and bank holiday payments.
When I secured alternative employment, obtaining confirmation of my employment dates was unnecessarily difficult. I had to chase Brook Street repeatedly, and my new employer also had to pursue them. Confirming employment dates should not require repeated intervention from both parties.
The problems continued after I left.
I was subsequently underpaid. Multiple attempts to resolve this received no response. I had to involve ACAS before I received a response and was paid what I was owed.
There was also an issue with backdated pay arising from a pay award. Brook Street stated that they needed additional time to calculate the backdated payment. As someone with more than three years of payroll experience, I find this particularly difficult to accept. Backdated pay is a routine payroll exercise. In my experience, it can be calculated and processed within a single pay period; it should not take more than six months.
Mistakes can happen. What matters is how they are dealt with. In my experience, recurring payment errors, difficulty obtaining basic employment information, poor communication and the need to involve ACAS before a pay dispute was addressed created an unnecessarily stressful experience.
I would also encourage anyone working for Brook Street to look into PCS Union, which is a recognised union for Brook Street. During my employment, I do not recall Brook Street making me aware that joining the union was an option. Employees should at least be aware of their right to seek union support.
If you are experiencing pay problems, put your concerns in writing, keep copies of all correspondence and contact Brook Street while copying in your local MP so there is an additional record of the matter and pressure for the issue to be addressed.
As someone who has a learning and development disability and somtimes requires the assistance of others I would never work for Brook Street again nor rely on their payroll services if I was a business which needed to outsource payroll responsibilities.
And finally, regarding the inevitable "please contact us privately" response...
I fully anticipate that Brook Street or its parent company ManpowerGroup Limited will respond with the wonderfully predictable corporate response: "We're sorry to hear about your experience. Please contact us at so that we can investigate this matter further."
Thank you, but I have already had the opportunity to contact Brook Street. I contacted them repeatedly when I was owed money and received no meaningful response until I escalated the matter to ACAS. Forgive me if I am not enthusiastic about volunteering for another round of corporate email tennis.
If Brook Street, ManpowerGroup, or anyone acting on its behalf genuinely requires further clarification, documentation or assistance regarding this review, I am happy to consider providing it.
My terms are simple:
An initial payment of £1,000 must be made to Sparkle Appeal, a registered UK charity which provides assistance and support to individuals with complex learning and developmental difficulties.
Any further consultation or discussion requested afterwards will be charged at £300 per hour, again payable to Sparkle Appeal.
These are the terms on which I am prepared to voluntarily provide further time and assistance.
So, if the proposed response is "Please contact us so we can discuss this further," my response is:
Please contact Sparkle Appeal first.
Once the £1,000 donation has been made and confirmation provided, I will consider whether I have anything further to add.
After all, my time is valuable. It just took Brook Street several pay disputes, repeated unanswered communications, an ACAS intervention and this review to discover that.
Shocking! Only had an initial call and I had to give up. How can a recruiter not know what right to work documents are acceptable. Apparently everyone is made to have a passport and you must have one. What a joke, need some re training
Not the best, I was banned from applying from MOJ jobs, because brook street would not listen to my version of events, they took the employer's side completely..
I am extremely disappointed with the way I have been treated by this recruitment agency.
On Wednesday, Sabrina called me and left a voicemail asking whether I was still interested in a job I had originally applied for around two months ago. As I was still interested, I immediately tried to return her call, but it went to voicemail.
The following day I called again and eventually spoke to one of her colleagues. The colleague emailed Sabrina to see if she was available and told me that she would ask Sabrina to call me back. I waited all day, and when I still hadn't heard anything, I called again before close of business, only to reach voicemail once more.
I then tried numerous times on Friday before eventually managing to speak to Sabrina. It was only at this point that I was told that all the CVs had already been sent forward for the position and that, if anything else came up in the future, she would contact me. I explained that I did not think it was fair or particularly professional to contact me about a vacancy and then, because I hadn't happened to answer the initial phone call, effectively leave me trying for two days to get hold of someone about an opportunity that had apparently already moved on.
I was told that they had a lot of applicants for every position. I explained that this did not change the fact that I had made repeated attempts to return their call, had spoken to a colleague who had specifically said Sabrina would call me back, and had spent two days trying to get through.
I found the whole experience very unprofessional. I told Sabrina that if this was the way they conducted their business, then I did not want to be contacted about future vacancies.

Over the past 6 months I have emailed Brook Street TW without response.
They are there to help people find work, yet that obviously doesn't apply to me.
The worst recruitment agency I have ever dealt with.

Waste of time
Was ghosted by this agency after my interview, never has a job offer. After 2 months I asked for feedback and I had no reply.

If I could give zero stars, I would. When a company just doesn't care if their own employees starve, you have to take action. A week ago, I was paid under half a normal wage for me, but only after I kicked up a fuss. I didn't receive any form of apology or anything to suggest the error was in anyway brook streets fault and my suggestion of compensation was ignored. Then yesterday, I received a mess of a payslip which was two pages long, referring to timesheets they won't even let me access! From April this year! I put an email in late morning (let's say 11am) and it was only escalated at the end of the day! Shambles of a company! I won't be using them again, I'd rather be on the dole. Less stress, much less stress!

I had a very disappointing experience with this agency.
The communication from Kirsty Pickering, who was handling the vacancy I applied for, was extremely poor. I was left chasing for updates and found it very difficult to get clear information about the role or the recruitment process. Good communication is one of the most important parts of recruitment, and unfortunately that was completely lacking.
To make matters worse, the person on reception was incredibly rude and dismissive. Instead of being polite and helpful, they came across as abrupt and made me feel like I was an inconvenience. It created a very poor first impression and reflected badly on the company as a whole.
Overall, the lack of communication, poor customer service, and unprofessional attitude made this a very frustrating experience. I hope this feedback encourages the agency to improve the way candidates are treated.

I was really happy with the recruitment service. Colleen assisted me at the start and quickly recognised that my skills would be better suited elsewhere. She placed me with Siobhan, and the process was incredibly fast. I ended up getting the role and I’m delighted with how smooth everything was.

I was scammed by Brook Street. I had 44+ holiday hours after my assignment for a job I had finished in Feb 25. They said they would only give it to me when I received my P45 for Brook Street. After sending several emails and phone calls they sent me a P45 some months later without me receiving any payment for my holiday hours… zero accountability or professionalism. And to top all of this off, they’ll post a generic copy & pasted response saying “most people have a positive experience (LIES) please contact this email address from which you’ll never get a response!” Absolute shambles.
The compliance part of the process was smooth and clear with Callum at the Liverpool office, however once this was completed the communication was sporadic and received from multiple people, this resulted in updates and difficulty getting any information regarding progress.
Once onboarding process was started and I had a specific point of contact the process was smooth and seemless again.
