Amazing authentic tour that I will never forget! Had the best time as a single female travelling to Rio for the first time, was nervous about being in the city alone but after this tour have a completely different view of Rio and am nervous no longer. Lauren and Val opened my eyes to the beauty and warmth of the city with the samba party tour. Spent time with the coolest people and really got to take a deep dive into what it is to be “cairioca” (sp)? They helped me secure a taxi back to my hotel at the end of the night (and I even met the best taxi driver he was so lovely)! Recommend the tour with all my heart - just do it!! Rio is incredible and the tour made it even more so.

Thanks for a great day Lauren, we enjoyed being able to get out to see historical sights, some off the beaten track that tourists wouldn't find. We are so grateful we booked our Brazil trip through Bromelia Rio...Lauren is such a wonderful person and we felt we were in good hands before and during our visit. Right from the initial contact, she was fast in getting back to us and took away the stress and anxiety of visiting a foreign country where we don't speak the language. We (a UK 60 something couple) did the Back Street Samba Party Excursion back in early December 2017. we (I) managed to get the time wrong and we turned up a little late and somewhat flustered. Lauren put us at ease, gave us a few drinks , taught us a few dance moves and we were ready to go!
We joined another (30 Something) couple and after a few drinks we were all best friends and off we went.
We had a lovely , fun and memorable night out. As we were late we had to grab some Brazilian street food on the run and being pretty much vegetarian we thought this was going to be impossible. In fact we had some tremendous food on the tour , in fact amongst the best of the entire trip. and by no means the most expensive!
Lauren was a charming and gracious host and we would recommend this tour to anyone passing through Rio.

Lauren and Val were amazing! We did a few of their excursions and both were perfect. Our hike up to Dois Iramos was incredible, with perfect views. It was tiring, but well worth it when we made it to the top. The local tour to the bloco party was fun too. Not an experience you would get if you didn't go with a local since it can be very overwhelming going on your own, so go with Lauren! The VIP Camarote parade was also perfect. When I searched on my own for tickets, it was overwhelming with too much information, Lauren was well informed of what to chose from and had her own package for us which made it 100% easier than us doing it on our own.

Thank you Lauren and Val and can't wait to come back to Rio!

We went to Rio last December/January and booked two tours with bromelia. A helicopter tour which was really special for us and a tour at botanical gardens and parque lage. Lauren is such a enchanting person and we enjoyed spending time with her so much! She truly looked after our every need and was such a perfect local guide! Our number one in Rio de Janeiro! I know Lauren personally, and I trusted her to take care of my parents on their first trip outside the United States! The trip went without a hitch, and my parents had the best of time. They can't stop talking about the tours and the stay and the ways that Lauren made them feel at home even though they were far away from home. Thanks! Bromelia Rio Travel and Tour are the best way to introduce yourself to Rio and fall in love with it. I was amazed by how each experience I had with Lauren and Val led me to want to do another tour with them. Each one I did was unique and amazing.

First I decided to stay at Casa Bromelia. This B&B is ran by Lauren and Val. I found this option on their tour site. I stayed 3 nights and am positive I will return for more. Casa Bromelia is a block from Ipanema beach. You cannot beat this location. It has so much historical charm on the outside and the interior decor Lauren selected is beautiful! It has 3 bedrooms that could potential be booked. The beds are super comfortable and the sound proof windows make you forget the outdoor world is even there. Trust me this is bliss after long adventures all day in Rio. You share a bathroom with the other guests, but I often felt like it was my own. Never had issues waiting for it. Besides the amazing comfort of the rooms having Lauren and Val there to give advice on your stay made the trip. They could point you in the right direction for whatever you are in the mood for that day. You could join in on one of their tours, they will give you advice on restaurant to try, and the best beach stand to visit. Lauren and Val are so genuine and you can tell love Rio. They want you to love it too. I highly recommend staying at Casa Bromelia for your accommodation for your stay.

Second, I did the Rainforest Hiking Tour to Dois Irmãos. The view for this is the best I have seen. Better then Christ or Sugar Loaf in my opinion. You can see a 360 view of Rio. I joined in last minute for this tour. I heard about it from a guest who was staying in a different room the afternoon before. Staying at Casa Bromelia made it easy for this last minute addition. A couple staying at a different location joined our group too. We met at Casa Bromelia and headed to the mountain. Val guided this tour and you can tell he has a love for the environment. He was picking up any little piece of trash as we hiked. I appreciate this gesture. In this tour we started at the bottom of the Vidigal Favela. We each took a separate motor bike taxi to get to the start of the hike at the top of the Favela. This was very safe and a great way to see the favela briefly. The hike was great for beginners. I am 35 years old and in average shape. There are some steep parts, but nothing you can't do. Val guided us at our pace and made sure we all were doing okay. The group talked the entire way up. Trust me the view is worth it!!! We walked down through the favela on the way back. It felt safe and interesting to see close up.

Third, I did the Back Street Samba Party Excursion. I scheduled this in advance when I booked the place. Lauren guided this tour and you can tell she truly enjoys Samba and the spirit it brings to the Rio culture. I did it with one other guest (31 years old) staying at Casa Bromelia and an older couple (70 years old) staying at a different location. The ages didn't matter. We all had such a fantastic time together. There is no way you can't in this particular tour. First, we all met at Casa Bromelia at 6pm and learned how to make a Caprinhina! We also had one too! Then we headed to the central part of Rio to a back street Samba gathering. The location was amazing to see. Something I would never have found on my own in Rio. We listened to music, drank a few more Caprinhinas, ate espichinos (meat on a stick) and danced the night away!! Lauren's enthusiasm for this amazing tour really made us all fall in love with Rio and Samba.

If I had more time I would have loved to do the cooking class tour, which Lauren doesn't run, but sets up for you or the City Walking Tour that Lauren does. Oh .... or the Photography Tour. The photos taken look amazing and how often do you have a beautiful background like Rio to do a personal photo shoot in. Lauren sets this up for you as well.

I have officially fallen in love with Rio AND Bromelia Rio Travel and Tour! I will be back!!

Lauren and her travel company are amazing. I did the Carnival Samba School and New Years 2018. Lauren herself is an incredible person and full of life. She personally takes you to different events and it definitely isn't a "travel company, logo wearing" bar crawl style outing. She actually immerses you in the culture so you feel part of the event vice just observing from the outside. After the event is over she ensures that you get home safely and stays in touch giving suggestions for food, bars, and other activities. You really do make a lifelong friend. I highly recommend anything from her company.

Seeing Rio with Lauren was an excellent experience. I travelled alone and couldn't have asked for a better companion. Not only I could see places maybe I wouldn't have visited on my own, visiting with locals is even better. 100% recommended.

It was a very fun experience! Lauren is an amazing host and shared with us her knowledge and experience of Brasil. We Had some great street food and drinks. We also met some amazing locals and the way they really live a Carioca night. Also, we felt safe the whole time! We recommend it 100%!

Lauren was an outstanding host. She helped me not only plan an amazing date night with my wife (for her birthday) in Rio (our first time ever) but coordinate purchasing concert tickets in a foreign country. As you can imagine preparing to have fun in an unknown country was daunting, but she helped every step of the way. She’s extremely knowledgeable, relational, and detailed - took care of us from beginning to end! Oh and taught us how to Samba!! Our stay at Bromelia Rio was awesome. We also booked tours there that allowed us to relax and experience the beauty--without having to stress over details of times, traffic, and language. We went to see the Christ and the Gardens.
Lauren is welcoming and gives attention to even the smallest needs and details. She is abounding in knowledge, inspiring, and eager to help. The balcony room is gorgeous and rich with history. I felt safe there, with close walking to beach, and wonderful food places.
As guests at Bromelia Rio, we felt more like friends or family---It's a top go-to place.

One of the best tour experiences you can get! Beyond the tours and adventures that they offer directly, they will go above and beyond, suggesting local bars, clubs, and restaurants that fit your style and interest. My trip would not have been the same without them.

Bromelia Rio is the most amazing travel concierge! My husband and I were treated like family, given recommendations for great restaurants that were not crowded with tourists, but friendly locals. Every suggestion made was exceptional: tropical gardens, museums, dance party, tiny beach bars - I felt it was all tailored to us. Can't wait to go back and experience the things we just didn't have enough time for!

If you're like me, you're probably reading this review to gauge whether or not it's "worth it" to hire Bromelia to be your local guide during your stay in Rio. Let me clear it up for you right off the bat: stop overthinking this; it is totally, unequivocally, 100% worth it!

You'll probably have a good time either way (it is Rio Freakin' de Janeiro, after all) but if you want to truly have a GREAT time, you'll do yourself a favor (and save a great deal of worry) by letting Lauren handle all the logistics for any of the experiences she offers. We did the Backstreet Samba Party on our last of ten nights in Brazil and it was one of the most memorable experiences of our lives! Amazing music, dancing, atmosphere, food, and people! Honestly, the only mistake we made was not contacting Lauren earlier in our trip. Thanks so much, Lauren!

Lauren was great to work with! She arranged a futból game as well as transport to and from. She was invaluable as well as Valdemir who personally came with us to the game and helped us with the language barrier. I wish I had found her and her agency earlier in our stay. I would highly recommend using her services in the future. Plus she is bilingual which is a huge help to English speakers!

We are so happy we found Lauren and Bromelia Rio! We needed help with a day tour of Rio for 6 people and luggage and preferred an English speaker for ease. Lauren was prompt, patient and accommodating with our multiple requests and changes. She set us up with Wanessa and a van for the day. Even with a few challenges that were outside of our control, Wanessa was calm when it came to shuffling our schedule and re-ticketing. She was able to drive us safely and confidently to each of our desired points and still have our guests at the airport on time!
