The Book Guild Anmeldelser

An absolute pleasure to work with. As an author who only wants to write, I see The Book Guild as an experienced partner, taking the lead on formatting, cover design, publication and distribution. Marketing is a joint effort and it’s been great to work with a publisher that knows the ropes and has the contacts. The best thing about this experience has been their responsiveness. Any question I have, I get an answer straightaway, always helpful, and understanding. Even when I had a panic and decided I wanted late changes, I got an instant phone call and we found a way forward. A huge thank you to the team, I’d recommend them to anyone wanting a transparent and responsive partner in their publishing journey. They really care.

This time last year I had almost finished my first novel. Two weeks ago my advance copies were delivered! The whole process was explained well at the start, and at each step of the publishing journey. I found the whole team to be friendly and responsive. It's a scary thing to do for a first-timer, but the team were incredibly helpful. Each department from editing right through to marketing, have the knowledge and experience of the industry, and made it so much simpler for me than I could have hoped for. I'm part way through my second novel, and will definitely be approaching The Book Guild again when I'm ready to submit.

I've been working with The Book Guild on a partnership publishing project for the past 12 months. Without exception, I've found Book Guild staff to be professional, open, knowledgeable, and forgiving of a published author who is new to partnership publishing. No hidden costs, no unwelcome surprises. Prompt and clear in their communications, they let you know what is happening and when, then stick to it. I'd have no hesitation in recommending their services to other authors.

A very professional team at The Book Guild, hugely experienced in book publishing. Friendly and helpful.

Friendly staff, terrrific efficiency and attention to detail. The Book Guild has published four of my 55 published titles and they compare very favourably with everyone else I´ve worked with.

I couldn’t praise them more highly. Delightful people with a solid degree of knowledge and professionalism. I have published twelve books with them so far with another two on the way, which hopefully says it all.

Publishing a book is not easy and I couldn’t have done it without the Book Guild!!!
The process takes approximately six months, and The Book Guild have honoured their side of the partnership deal with fairness and professionalism at every step.
The publishing trade is a highly competitive, low margin environment, and yet the pressures that I’m sure this brings has never affected The Book Guild’s care of me as an author. Along the journey they have always responded to my needs and questions, (often clumsy ones) with patience and understanding.
With the release date fast approaching, the marketing stage has begun, and I am glad the Book Guild team are onboard to help me promote my book as best I can.

PS - Today I have received an advanced copy, and it looks Amazing!!!

Very prompt responses to draft submissions as well as all subsequent correspondence, all with friendly courtesy and professional expertise. The Book Guild team could not be more helpful and encouraging.

We connected the Book Guild by email in reg to a publishing book that is due to be launches at the end of May. We were brushed off with an email telling us to go to the author, the book is another vanity chasing author happy to expose all of our families closes moments without any discussion with family members. The family issue is there I agree, we wanted to ensure you were aware of the incorrect items within the book that are both factually incorrect and were never experienced by the author.

I am currently in the process of having my third book published by The Book Guild and couldn’t be happier. Although this process is still underway, I have no doubt that it will proceed as smoothly as the production of my first two books. This involved efficient commissioning, helpful editing, designing eye-catching covers, expert typesetting, timely printing and, last but not least, ensuring that the finished books looked superb. Moreover, post-production marketing was thorough and the despatch of the printed books prompt. It doesn’t get much better than that! And what has spurred me to write this review now – after the completion of the copy edit of my third book – is my gratitude to the Copy Editor, who made some excellent suggestions for improvement. Having followed these suggestions to the letter, I can see that my book has greatly benefitted and am very grateful. What is more, since the start of my involvement with The Book Guild, all its staff with whom I have had dealings have been courteous, prompt, responsive, accommodating and helpful – in short, a delight to work with. I am overjoyed to have found my dream publisher!

From start to finish the whole team at The Book Guild were helpful, professional and supportive, always providing feedback along the way. I appreciated how patient they were with me during the editing process, nothing was too much for them.

From Day One up until delivering advance copies of my book, The Book Guild have quickly and scrupulously answered my queries. Throughout the entire process of getting my first book printed I have mainly liaised with the same person, Carolina Santos (taking Holly’s place after she left the company), and she has provided not only continuity but has been an absolute pleasure. All the staff have been uniformly excellent. I’m full of admiration for the company. Their attention to detail is to be admired and the process of copy-editing, proof-reading and typesetting my manuscript was an excellent example of this as (alongside all the usual cross-checking) it had some 15 pages of unconventional text layout and we worked hard together to get this right. I’m very happy with the end result. The book was beautifully laid out, with good quality paper and the cover’s sumptuous colours and debossing (embossing in reverse) made it a very impressive object in its own right. As someone who is very pernickety about book production this had been an ongoing concern: what if it looked a bit cheap or naff? Well it didn’t, I’m very happy to report. So kudos to The Book Guild, my publisher.

Very clear communication, and very friendly.
The copy edit process was a bit tedious, otherwise everything was spot-on,

Star Quest Academy is my debut middle-grade novel, and The Book Guild has been exemplary as its publisher. I am a member of the Society of Authors, whose legal team checked the contract, and it passed with flying colours after only a couple of queries that were answered immediately to their complete satisfaction.
I felt supported and involved throughout the process by professionals who are experts in their fields. In fact, high levels of professionalism, expertise, efficiency and friendliness were consistent throughout the company. Whenever I had a query, no matter how trivial, or needed support, someone was always readily available to help.
I always felt respected as the author and a part of the team.
The quality of the final product is of the highest standard, and much of the feedback from readers and reviewers has been complimentary about the cover design, which is so important to a debut author trying to establish a following.
The manuscript for my second novel is near completion, and I hope it will be published by The Book Guild.
So, if you’re looking for a publisher to produce, distribute and market your book to the highest standard, I highly recommend The Book Guild; you’ll be in safe hands.

The Book Guild has published my two novels. On both occasions the various departments worked cohesively to produced a beautiful book and were very easy to deal with. All of their communication was clear and prompt, and their friendly and courteous service meant the whole process was enjoyable and stress-free. Obviously I would prefer a deal involving a huge advance with a big publishing house, but I'm realistic and will very happily turn to The Book Guild again when I have completed my next novel.

I made the right decision publishing with The Book Guild. My novel The Loneliness Trap had a beautiful look, with a stylish cover and page design. I was also happy to have media coverage on the BBC. My book has sold better than I expected. I would be happy to publish my next book with them.

This company is a Vanity Press. It makes it's money from authors not from selling their books. I know someone who submitted a manuscript to them. The flattery was layed on with a trowel, and they were assured that by working with them 'in partnership' the book had a good chance of being a commercial success. It went nowhere.

When my previous publisher decided to stop publishing fiction I was in real despair! But then I made contact with the Book Guild and my experience of publishing with them has been all I could wish for. Everyone I have dealt with at the Book Guild has been responsive friendly and supportive, and also very patient. I needed my second novel, Fortune’s Price, closely to resemble my first and the cover designer at the Book Guild really did a great job in achieving this. The editorial process went as smoothly as possible for a historical novel with lots of strange names, titles etc. and marketing support has been consistent. I have much appreciated the transparency of the process, and I would have no hesitation in recommending The Book Guild to other writers. I hope to be able to work with them again.

From the very beginning, when my book Sword Brethren was taken on, The Book Guild have been delightful to work with. Throughout the process of editing, cover design, typesetting, marketing, etc, they have been friendly, professional and always willing to help steer me through the uncertain world of publishing. I could not be happier with the service they provided and I hope to continue working closely with them in the future.

I had a fantastic experience publishing my book, 'A Night with Damien Spur,' with The Book Guild. From the beginning, I felt supported and valued. The entire team, including my editor, Fern, and my project manager, Rosie, were incredibly communicative and helpful throughout the process. I was particularly impressed with the speed and efficiency of the production team, led by Holly. The cover design by Chelsea is absolutely stunning and perfectly captures the essence of my book. I'm also grateful to Megan for her promptness in uploading the digital files and addressing any corrections quickly.

The Book Guild not only provides high-quality production but also offers valuable guidance and support to authors. I highly recommend them to anyone considering self-publishing. I'm confident that other authors will have a similarly positive experience.
