Consider Alternative Project Management Tools
My office has used this app for almost a decade, and it's been a pain from the very beginning. If you manage dozens of clients, locating a specific project can feel like an assignment all on its own.

Basecamp 5 updates have made it unusable
Our business has used Basecamp for many years now. We've loved how easy it was to invite clients to and was a straightforward and easy-to-use project management platform. The new updates rolled out with Basecamp 5 have made it essentially unusable. All of our clients are needing to use redundant communication (emails, chats, etc) because no one can find anything. It's actually really disappointing because Basecamp has been so essential to our process to this point.

Basecamp 5: What a disappointment!
We've been using Basecamp since the Basecamp Classic and this rollout has been a disaster for our clients and our team. We manage three different Basecamp accounts and all the users are frustrated. Here's a short list of problems.
1. The new block-only calendar format is a total distraction. Where is the list view?
2. The new layout completely changes the workflow and is not intuitive.
3. Hiding the ability to quickly switch between accounts (why is it under my photo???) was just dumb.
4. The search feature doesn't work as well as the last version.
5. Oh...and we didn't even get a warning that this was happening...and I'm the owner of one of the three accounts we manage. Bad form Basecamp!!! Truly disappointed!

Basecamp 5 is terrible
Basecamp 5 is terrible. We have been using Basecamp since 2.0. The new interface looks like a step back. It was nice being able to see a preview of items in folders, now it looks like something out of DOS. The home screen looks like I'm viewing the mobile version on my monitor, so much useless info crammed onto the screen. I have a lot of projects, that's what I want to see. I would be surprised if they used any user input into the UI before making the changes. The rollout was also disastrous: just a "Bascamp 5.0 is coming, watch this 20 min video," followed by damage-control webinars after the fact. This may end up being an example that is used for "disastrous decisions brands make".
Basecamp 5 Disappointment
Basecamp 5 is difficult to navigate, with everything that was once easily accessible on the top bar now hidden in a drop down menu, pings and notifications squished away in another dropdown menu, and activity page difficult to track with no more timecodes of when things were posted.
The UI is a significant step down and very frustrating. I wish I could toggle the updated UI off.

Basecamp 5 update: terrible
Basecamp 5 update: total car crash. They completely changed the layout of the whole thing, resulting in a lot of confusion, along with a lot of features now seemingly broken, other URLs not working or redirected. It’s the worst software update I’ve ever seen.
There are other problems with Basecamp too. Simple things that should be addressed, are probably very easy to address, but they don’t, as they don’t seem to put themselves in the shoes of their actual end users (nor listen to their feedback when they send it). Really not a great experience at all and we will move away when we have the time to migrate to something better.

Basecamp was a great easy to use app and then came the update!
Basecamp was a great easy to use app. Then came the update. The recent Basecamp update made what used to be a simple and efficient platform much more difficult to use. Navigation feels more complicated, common tasks now take extra clicks, and the overall layout is less intuitive than before. Instead of improving workflow, the update has slowed things down and created unnecessary frustration for users who relied on the previous version’s simplicity. No one in my office has said anything positive about it.

What a terrible update
What a terrible update. The layout now feels overwhelmingly text-based, making navigation and locating specific projects more cumbersome than it should be. Moreover, the use of white space on the desktop version is truly awful and looks like it might work better on mobile than desktop.

Terrible Update!
The new update is absolutely terrible!!! Why would the home page look like a phone version. It’s now very difficult to keep up with tasks, mentions, documents etc! Please give us an option to revert to Basecamp 4! This is absolutely atrocious and I hope you are taking into consideration customers reviews! We hate it!

Basecamp has until now been a solid project management software but the new update (basecamp 5.0) is terribly designed and looks awful - awful use of negative space, hidden icons, and it crams your important stuff into a tiny column whilst wasting 2/3rds of the screen. It looks like something a teenager designed in 2007.

Doesnt allow VPN; doesnt care about customer grievances
Basecamp blocks your access when you use VPN. They would like you to access their platform unprotected.
I contacted their customer service and explained how Im not able to access their platform with VPN, and they just gave me the run around.
In the end they didnt do anything. They just dont care about customer grievances.
Save yourself the trouble and just use other workspace platforms.
Edit: Basecamp’s response is a lie. There were no fixes made. VPN IP remains blocked. Dont trust these people.
