The instructions are clear and the product is excellent.I walked for a long distance in the park communicating clearly on the baofeng radio with my daughter.
The instructions are hard to follow, so having played around, I used the reset function to clear the radio. Unfortunately this does not take the radio back to the condition it is shipped in (as it should), but the radio is left with just two channels and is completely useless, until the channels are reprogrammed in (especially hard with the poor instructions supplied). I corresponded with Baofeng about this, but it is a painful process with one message per day and lots of language misunderstandings. They offered a 30% refund, but after a month of negotiations they changed their mind and reduced it to 20%. I'd steer clear of them, there are better radios around. Sadly, I'm sending mine back.

Was given a faulty radio , they refused to replace it and instead made me pay more money for a new one that I still haven’t received and every time I ask when it will arrive I get ignored , poor customer service and and absolute joke of a company

Ordered 5x UV-5R radios on 01 July 2024, received on 11 July without issue.
Package was received at roughly 4pm and by 8:30pm I had finished charging and testing all units to find that onc of the 5 radios, had a faulty accessory connection. I tried all 5 headsets the units came with and 2 others I had also purchased, none of which would work with this single unit, but all worked with every other.
I raised a case with customer services on 11 July at 8:34pm and spent the next 4 days going back and forth explaining the issue to be offered the resolution of them refunding me £5 and me taking it to be repaired somewhere locally? This would cost more than £5, but should not be down to me to have the unit repaired if it arrived faulty.
Then on 17 July, they responded by asking me to PAY them a FURTHER £10, for them to send me another radio. After refusing, I was then offered on 18 July, the alternative of PAYING them £5 for them to send me another radio.
I have on multiple occasions expressed my refusal to pay them any further monies in order to receive a suitable and working radio and they have yet to even arrange the return postage for the faulty unit, ELEVEN DAYS after I reported the issue!
I am going in circles, they will not honour the warranty and keep asking me to pay more money to replace the faulty unit that they have sent out to me!
AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
Warranty and customer service is absolutely apalling and they do not stick to UK consumer law.

Review updated from 1 Star to 5 Star, with the below additional feedback.
After leaving review Baofeng reached out with a resolution on 23/07/24. They offered a replacement unit at no additional cost to myself. Replacement was dispatched with tracking info on 25/07 and received on 31/07, fully tested and working. Still unsure as to the cause of the failure or if a repair would be possible of the original unit, but the issue is now resolved and I have 5 fully functional radios.

For my use case, I only needed a radio that is good enough for listening into UHF FM frequencies (for me, specifically in the 400MHz region), and so the UV-5R being the cheapest and really good quality option meant this was the radio I was going to buy.
Stumbled upon this website, and the price for the UV-5R was cheaper than anywhere else I saw so I decided to order. Admittingly, after ordering I had actually taken a proper look at the website and had my doubts as to if this was actually a legit website due to the spelling errors here and there and just the website layout and posters in general (I ordered on the mobile version of the website, the desktop version looks much cleaner and organised such that the occasional spelling mistakes can be ignored) however I'm happy to be proven wrong after receiving my item in just a week (which is the estimate the website said for shipments coming from China). Very neatly packaged, unit was pristine quality and came with everything that was required. It has been 3 or so months since first using my UV-5R (as of writing this review in July of 2024), and some programming later (bought a programming cable separately) I'm happy to say I've had zero issues and am very satisfied. Would 100% recommend this website!
A little slow on shipping, but there is no denying the superior Quality that is baofeng. After years of using standard walkie-talkies, our airsoft group decided to purchase a set of baofeng's.... There really is no comparison. And, honestly, its not even that expensive. So really, no doubt, it's good stuff
I tried to find information about their accessories for a particular radio. Despite a number of support enquiries and trying their on line chat which is never online, I have not received any response. If you need any customer service I doubt you will get any help. Extremely poor level of service and will not be recommended them.
Lovely product, but no activity on any channel here in Scotland that I can find!
I had an issue with programming the radio via software. Reached out to Baofeng. They did their utmost not to sort the problem. Kept asking questions then when I answere about that question, they asked another. I’ve sorted it now Poor customer service

I recently purchased a VHF radio UV-17M from Baofeng radio, enticed by their website's detailed descriptions and promises of modern features, including USB-C charging. However, upon receiving the product, I was sorely disappointed to find that it did not include USB-C charging capabilities as advertised.
When I reached out to their customer support to address this discrepancy, I was met with nothing but short, rude responses, brushing off my concerns without any attempt to resolve the issue. It was evident that they had no interest in satisfying their customers or acknowledging their misleading advertising practices.
In my subsequent attempt to rectify the situation, I stumbled upon a tiny, barely visible disclaimer buried in their website, stating that the product did not include USB charging. Way smaller and in fading color compared to the pictures and text describing multiple times, that the product has USB charging. This deliberate attempt to obscure crucial information only further highlights the company's unethical business practices.
I am deeply disappointed and frustrated by Baofeng radio's blatant disregard for honesty and transparency. Their deceptive advertising tactics and dismissive customer service are unacceptable. I strongly advise against purchasing anything from this company, as you may not receive what you were promised, and any attempts to seek resolution will be met with disdain.
