Fully documented case (booking #179388; all emails plus a screen recording of the complete booking process):

We booked an airport transfer (Bad Hofgastein → Salzburg Airport, pickup 23 August) on 30 July at 05:54 and cancelled it 26 minutes later, at 06:20, through the company's own confirmation link. The company confirmed the cancellation the same morning. Pickup was 24 days away — and by the company's own process, driver contact details are only sent shortly before a transfer; none had been issued.

The company refuses to refund a single euro of the €189.95 paid. Their justification: we did not select "Cancellation Protection". Our screen recording of all four booking steps shows that no such option exists anywhere in the booking process — the extras page offers ski equipment, child seats, an extra stop, a bicycle and a wheelchair; the payment page shows only the price. Their refusal email also cites a "cancellation fee" that appears nowhere in their own published terms. Those terms instead state that without the (never offered) protection, 100% of the payment is retained — no matter when you cancel.

What consumers should know before booking: "austria-taxi.at" displays a London phone number (+44), but the operator is Connecto Mare d.o.o., seated in Split, Croatia, which describes itself in its own terms as a mere intermediary — not the carrier — and prescribes Croatian law and the courts of Split. In our assessment, a clause keeping 100% of the price after a cancellation made 26 minutes post-booking is precisely the type of term listed as unfair in Annex 1(d) of EU Directive 93/13 and invalid under German consumer law (§ 648, §§ 307, 309 BGB).

We are now recovering the amount via credit-card chargeback and have involved the European Consumer Centre (ECC-Net). Our advice: check who you are actually contracting with and where that company is seated before you book — and pay by credit card only, as it is the only realistic way to get your money back.

Update 12. August:
Unfortunately, this response does not address the issue at all.

Austria Taxi’s actual position communicated to us was that there will be no refund because we did not purchase “Cancellation Protection.”

That is precisely the problem: there was no Cancellation Protection available to purchase.

We have a screen recording of the entire booking process, from the first page through payment. It shows every option presented to the customer. The extras offered were ski equipment, child seats, an additional stop, a bicycle and a wheelchair. No cancellation protection or cancellation package was offered at any stage.

So simply stating here that the matter has been “resolved” does not answer the central question:

How could we have purchased a cancellation option that your own booking system never offered us?

For context, the booking was cancelled through Austria Taxi’s own cancellation link only 26 minutes after it was made, with the transfer still 24 days away. The cancellation was confirmed by the company that same morning. Nevertheless, Austria Taxi / Connecto Mare d.o.o. is retaining 100% of the €189.95 payment.

Nothing has therefore been “fixed” or “resolved” from our perspective. No refund has been issued.

We have preserved the complete booking process and correspondence as evidence. A link to the unedited screen recording of the booking process will follow, together with a dedicated page documenting the case and the correspondence.

We would still welcome Austria Taxi / Connecto Mare d.o.o. reconsidering its position and issuing the refund. If the company does so, we will of course update this review accordingly.

Until then, their public response unfortunately does not address the substance of the complaint.

I do not recommend using Austria Taxi for airport transfers. Their customer service culture is exceptionally poor.

I had booked a Premium-class vehicle for 6 people, but at the airport we were picked up without any prior notice by a dirty Opel van, which is clearly what you would expect from an economy-class option, not a premium service.
For the return transfer from the hotel to the airport, the situation got even worse. The driver called me shortly before pickup and said there had been “changes” and that he could not pick us up at the agreed time. When I contacted Austria Taxi directly, they told me they could either cancel the booking or make us wait for another car with a delay.
The overall service quality is very poor. They do not respond to emails properly (I received only one reply stating that the complaint case was closed), and in the end I was not even given permission to publish our email correspondence.
To be honest, this company appears untrustworthy. It turns out they are not even registered in Austria, and the platform name itself is misleading and gives customers a false impression.
Avoid if you value reliability and honest service.

Have used this company a few times and they were great. Until this time. Ordered a premium van for 8 people and 5 sets of skis, they sent an old van which didn’t really fit us all in and so I had skis coming through from the boot to where my head should be, and spent 2 hours bent double. The suspension was also totally broken.

After we got a nicer larger van on the way back, I complained and they said it was a premium van. Bit of a joke really given I was in pain and bent over like a hunchback for a few hours I got out.

So yeah best to use someone else if you have the choice. Shame as they used to be decent.

The car stank of cigarettes. The driver drove like a maniac on the trip down from Obergurgl to Innsbruck, frequently breaking the speed limits (over 100kph in a 60 zone) while carrying a family in the car on icy roads when we were in no rush to get there at all. I will never use this company again and would advise anyone that is considering them to find an alternative. Also, I think they are trying to game trustpilot because they sent me a review link for a different page to this one.

Ich bin selbst Unternehmer und erhalte Anfragen von Austria Taxi. Der Kundenservice ist auch für die/den Unternehmer schrecklich! Der Support ist nach Kroatien ausgelagert, womöglich um die Lohnkosten niedrig zu halten. Die Preise sind exorbitant hoch und definitiv Wucher. Mich wundert es, dass Leute überhaupt über diese Seite buchen. Abgesehen davon kassiert Austria Taxi 20% Provision des Fahrpreises!

ACHTUNG! Vor dieser Firma kann nur gewarnt werden! Nicht nur das beim Customer Service NIEMAND Deutsch spricht. Es werden auch kurzfristige Fahrten gecancelt und sie sind nicht bereit Schadensersatz zu leisten. Finger weg, von dieser unseriösen Firma!!!

I had to cancel my taxi reservation as I would not be making my trip unfortunately. To my amazement they were not willing to return the deposit I paid, referring to their terms and conditions. This is ridiculous as no service was provided whatsoever. This is very customer unfriendly attitude and I would not recommend to book with them

Schlecht, langsam, nicht empfehlenswert

I generally don't leave reviews but felt compelled now after being treated very badly by Austria-taxi. I booked a transport for 12 colleagues. The night before the transport was booked I received and email that there was no more taxi available and Austria-taxi could not facilitate my transport anymore. I eventually managed to get someone on the phone who apologized but was not willing to help me arrange alternative transport. It caused a lot of stress and money. I strongly recommend not booking with this company.
