Beware of additional fees
⭐️ Review for Anyplace
Unfortunately, our experience with Anyplace at move-out was extremely disappointing.
We rented an apartment for 4 months and paid a very high rental price, in addition to a $350 cleaning fee. We left the apartment very, very clean. Realistically, only normal turnover cleaning was required: mopping the floors once and washing the bedding — exactly the kind of tasks that a $350 cleaning fee should cover.
After moving out, we were shocked to receive a demand for an additional $100 cleaning charge. The reasons given were crumbs and pillow feathers under the sofa cushions, a broken dog toy under the bed, and the fact that the floor needed to be wiped.
Seriously? Is this meant to be a joke?
In the move-out email, Anyplace clearly states that tenants should remove trash and personal belongings. There is no mention that the apartment must be left in a condition where one could “eat off the floor.” If that is the expectation, then what exactly is the $350 cleaning fee for?
This feels like an attempt to nickel-and-dime tenants after an already expensive stay. We fully understand reasonable wear and normal cleaning after a 4-month stay — that’s exactly why we paid the cleaning fee in the first place.
Very disappointing and not transparent. I would strongly advise future tenants to be extremely cautious about move-out charges.
