Taxation query
I needed help regarding the double taxation agreement between UK and Panama. Agroup's response was very quick and they also set up a one hour video call with a tax accountant in Panama. The call actually lasted around twenty minutes and my query answered in the first five minutes. Then the gentlemen proceeded to tell my wife and I that as we had been in Panama for twelve months we must get a tax number and complete a tax return every year even though we had Cedula's! Two days later I was sent the costs involved in these two activities.
Following the call I contacted a highly reputable, well known company in Panama who deal in immigration and tax. They replied to my query that as we were retired and had Cedula's there was no requirement. I also contacted my own lawyer who had aided us in getting permanent residency and is a tax specialist and she said exactly the same information as the company. As a result I contacted Agroup Consulting to tell them the result and confirm I would no longer use their services. There has been no sign of a refund for the unused time allocated for the call.
