The service provided by Zenva is worth every penny I've paid, it has taught me more things and quicker than what I could've done on my own in the same amount of time without it.

I'm actually learning how to code and understanding the process, as well.

In short, I'm really glad that Zenvas' Godot courses exist, since they're one of the few sources that cover Godot programming beyond the "What is a Node, a Scene and a Resource" stage.
I don't think the courses are exceptional, but imo they don't need to be. If you have only a couple of months worth of experience with Godot, they fill in the role of a friend who has maybe one or two years of experience, who brings you up to speed on how to do simple things.
So, definitely a solid basis, if you're just starting out, but I really wish they'd cover advanced topics, like enemy/NPC AI, import systems for more content heavy games, terrain + level design, boss fights, maybe they could even make a whole course on how to do a more complex character/combat system that requires a lot of animations? Just to name a bunch of topics they don't cover.
My other point of criticism is the price point. Just my opinion, for a site this successful, they asking for too much money, for courses that aren't that long. If I didn't get them as a Humble Bundle, I propably wouldn't paid so much money for it.
(Also I don't like that they use Kenney assets for everything, for heavens sake, hire an actual 3D artist/animator with all the money you're raking in :P)

This teacher has a burning passion for teaching; they are very precise and on point. Very soothing voice and great course structure. I am learning a lot and I am very thankful! 5 Stars, Highly recommended!

The classes I've gone through have been great, easy to follow how to guides that can help give your ideas molds to fill.

I like the Godot course, but I’m having a big problem — even though I’ve watched several lessons, I still can’t make a simple game, like a choice-based story game. I want to expand on the projects and remake them in my own way, but the course feels too “planned out” without really explaining why you should do certain things instead of others.

I still can’t remember how to make anything on my own, and I even struggle with something as basic as making a top-down walking system. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong.

It would really help if there were more lessons on Blender, Godot multiplayer, and pixel art.

Still, I’ll keep trying my best — studying, practicing, and rewatching the courses until it clicks.

Pour peu que vous soyez à l'aise avec l'anglais (ils proposent des sous-titres français cela-dit), il y a de super cursus à suivre sur Zenva. J'apprends à faire des jeux sur Defold en LUA et l'intérêt principal pour moi c'est que je peux reprendre les cours autant de fois que je veux pour que ça rentre définitivement dans ma petite tête de réfractaire (involontaire) au coding !

I've been going through the Unity tutorials (specifically the procedural generation one most recently). I know that their instructors are probably just contracted out, but I wonder if they should vet them or have a higher standard. I'm getting the basics, and learning quite a bit, so I still gave it a 3 star. However, the instructor for these tutorials specifically, I wonder how much he actually understands. He'll give equations for parameters, but not explain why THAT equation. Some lines of code, if you pay attention, will actually CHANGE when he scrolls around, making me wonder if it's AI generated and he's doing small tweaks. The videos aren't "clean" either. He jumps all around the code rather than setting up parameters or functions first, in order to complete a thought. He also frequently makes mistakes, that he goes back and corrects, sometimes in an entirely different video. This last to me is inexcusable as it's a video... you can go back and edit it, or reshoot a small section, so that it's clean and you aren't confusing people.

The coding taught, as well, while I'm FAR from an expert, I have thought of improvements myself. Some of them aren't even done because I wanted a different result, some are what to me, seem like basic sense, such as making a field for a parameter in the Unity inspector rather than hardcoding in a static number, or fixing an error where I was NOT getting the same result he was showing on the screen, with the same code he supposedly was using. I've shared some code with friends who ARE professional software engineers and they seemed in awe at how "bad" the coding style was.

Really tempted to give it a 2 Star, but I know that not every tutor on Zenva is going to be the same, so I do still enjoy the service. The tutorial organization is nice, and there's a large variety that will hopefully help me make the game I'm envisioning. But they definitely need to have a lot higher standard for their instructors' videos.

I love the quality and ease of these courses.
Each lesson is bite-sized enough to follow without getting lost, but keep me progressing steadily.
The audio is clear and crisp.
It's always enjoyable to use Zenva courses.

Well structured, nicely explained, learned alot from this basic GD 4 course now I can move further.

Simple and easy explanations about complex things. I wouldn't be able to understand/learn Godot engine on my own, but with "Zenva: Introduction to Godot 4" I could understand it very easily very fast.

I've really enjoyed learning and following along the courses!
But I do wish for the addition of smaller individual topics that focuses on certain games features like "How to making a day night cycle in 2d topdown / sidescroller", "How to make a scene manager", "How to make your player move" "Creating stairs and slopes in sidescroller / Topdown" "How to make a save and load system" and topics similar to 'Explore Audio for Godot 4 Games'
As I believe it's a good idea to show that games are about breaking down it's sum of it's features into smaller manageable bits.

I'm 46 and started my gamedev journey a year ago.

I got some Zenva course of humble bundle and I was so impressed with the course I got a yearly subscription.

The courses are great and I'm learning a lot and using what I learned to work on my own games. No being stuck in tutorial hell . Every time there is a new course I'm taking it t brush up on some skills and learn new ways to do things. Highly recommend!

there are test after a couple of videos and answering it wrong wont highlight the right answer. Making me go back and forth/loading previous page and forward page just to take the test again(can be a lot of trial) so I could figure the right answer. would like more defold course content like simple rts, modules, color grading, lights and shadow, lau, luajit, and some c++. Adding shortcuts for captions and playback speeds would also be nice. But everything else is pretty Solid!

A variety of Godot tutorials I was looking for

Zenva is well worth the subscription. With AI Q&A help, written notes, and bite-sized video tutorials it's very easy to start learning coding. Some teachers are a little better than others but that's mainly due to whether or not English is their first language (ie: how easy it is to understand them). I love learning Godot from this company, and look forward to learning other things too!
