Me and my friend had an unforgettable adventure trip in Nepal, especially around Pokhara, thanks to the excellent service from Above The Himalaya Trekking.

When I was planning my trip to Nepal, one of my friends recommended this tour agency because she had previously solo trekked with them to Annapurna Base Camp. From the very first contact, Mr. Puru, who manages the company, communicated promptly and clearly (he replied quickly via WhatsApp), which made the planning process easy and stress-free.

We completed a 3-day soft trek from Pokhara to Ghandruk and Dhampus, along with city tours around Pokhara and Kathmandu. Our guides, porter, and drivers were friendly, patient, and always ready to help. They made sure we were comfortable and able to fully enjoy every moment of this adventure trip. The itinerary was flexible, and the team quickly assisted whenever we had requests or needed adjustments.

This trip helped me complete several bucket-list experiences, including unforgettable memories from the World’s 2nd Highest Bungy Jump and the World’s Highest & Longest Sky Cycle and Mega Troll at The Cliff Nepal, as well as Paragliding. It became one of the most memorable journeys I’ve ever had.

I could not have had a better trekking experience, thanks to Above The Himalaya. Mr Puru made the entire booking process extremely easy and straight forward via WhatsApp communication. He helped me decide on which trek to do, and enabled me to customise it to fit in with my travel plans. He also understood my financial situation well, and gave me an extremely good price! Special thanks to my guide, Sitaram, and my porter, Chhring, who went above and beyond for me during the entire trek. Sitaram gave me many options to customise the trek to reiterate that it was “my holiday” which I appreciated. He also made sure to find me the best accomodation with the best room possible at every teahouse. This often meant I had my own ensuite at most places where available! He was very comforting and made me feel extremely supported and cared for.

This was my first long trek, and having done it as a solo female traveller I can say that I cannot recommend this company enough. Initially, I was a little nervous but Puru reassured me many times that it is perfectly safe for me to be doing solo. I felt safe the whole time and I was never concerned for my safety. Furthermore, if I needed anything, Puru made sure that I knew I could message him at any time.

If you’re looking for a company to do your trekking whilst in Nepal, you won’t regret Above The Himalaya! I did Langtang Valley Trek, and I would be keen to use this company for future treks!

This was my 3rd trip with Above the Himalaya and Puru. Each trip with Puru has exceeded expectation with the quality of the guides, porters and attention to detail. We were a team of 5 trekker and our ages were all above 67 years of age with the oldest being 73. We are all experienced hikers and trekker and our plan was to trek up the Khumbu Valley to the Cho La pass to Gokyo to the Renjo La pass to return to Lukla. However, the weather altered our plans as Cyclone Montha blanketed the country in rain at lower elevation and significant snowfall at the upper elevations. Due to the weather, no one was not trekking and everyone was staying put in their current location during the storm. All the passes were closed due to the deep snow. We were in Namche when the storm was blanketing the country.

This is where Above the Himalaya really shines is in the ability to adapt to the changing conditions. In conversation with our lead guide, we decided to alter our route to trek through the Gokyo valley to reach Gokyo and then do the Renjo La pass and we aborted the Cho La pass due to the dangerous and snowy conditions. We trekked through cold, rain, snow, ice and mud and had a wonderful experience. Sitaram our lead guide and Dhurba our assistant guide was both attentive to the changing conditions and always kept a keen eye for how we were doing and feeling on the trek. The pacing was excellent as none of us had any hint of altitude sickness as we reached a maximum elevation of 5,365m.

Having trekked and hiked all over the world with different tour companies, Puru’s company is simply the best. The communications, focus on safety, the guides and staff, the accommodations, the food are all amazing. All you have to do is focus on the beauty of the mountains, enjoy the joyfulness of the Nepali people and have fun exploring the trails. I am planning my next trip with Puru for 2027 as there is no other trekking company to match Puru’s level of service.

This agency is truly exceptional. Communication via WhatsApp is incredibly fast — messages are answered within minutes. The agency is extremely helpful with everything: from flight arrangements to organizing activities and treks. You always feel well advised and supported.

What I especially appreciated is how flexible and caring the agency is. Even when I spontaneously decided to change my trekking route, everything was handled smoothly and with full understanding. The agency is not only highly professional but also genuinely kind and personal.

My wife and I were on a very tight schedule and we still were able to see Annapurna, Everest, and Kathmandu thanks to Puru! We were very pleased with all of the guides and services he arranged for us. There was a misunderstanding on my part at one point and Puru was able to make a last minute change of plans to accomodate my wife and I. The trip would not have been able to go so well without his help, and we very much appreciate it! We plan to work woth him again when we are able to return to Nepal.

The company's director Puru is very helpful and attentive. He provided excellent service and support even during the unforeseen events including the snowstorm in the mountains, flooding and landslides, allowing us the best and safest journey.

Above the Himalaya was an awesome tour agency. Their communication was super fast and they worked with me and my wife to created a perfect itinerary for my 2 weeks in Nepal. They answered my questions right away (I had a lot of questions) and we kept changing the plan until it was perfect. Met us right away at airport and we didn't worry about a thing for 2 weeks. We did Katmandu, Pokaharu, ABC trek and Chitwan. We were always put up in great hotels and had great guides. Best thing it was great working with a local company based in Nepal and having always local guides. Also constant contact while in Nepal if we had any questions or changes. I recommend Above the Himalaya with 5 stars!

Went on a three day trek to Ghandruk with my 9 year old children and husband. Trek was amazing. Hard at times but the guide and all porters were absolutely wonderful and adapted the route when needed. Fantastic views and experience. The tour company even changed the day for us last minute when my little boy ill.

Mr. Puru provides a quality experience. He adapts to specific needs. He is honest and responsive. His guides were top notch. The hotels he chose enhanced our experience. He's an excellent choice for an exotic atea.

Above the Himalayas provided exceptional service for our trip to Nepal. Purushotam Timalsena (Puru), the owner, is professional, responsive, and caring. During the planning phase of our trip, Puru created two different but overlapping trip itineraries for our group of 12. Eight of us wanted the Everest Base Camp trek and the 4 other members wanted the Base Camp and the Three High pass trek. Puru arranged for the guides, porters, and flights. He met with us over zoom to answer all of questions and ally our concerns about our trip. The trip was organized, and communication was clear.

Above the Himalayas really shined when we were in-country. Puru arranged side trips in Katmandu on a moment’s notice. The guides on the trek (Sitaram, Suresh, and Paladin) were knowledgeable, friendly, and adaptable. The ratio of porters to trekkers allowed us to make some necessary adaptations to our itineraries due to needs of our group—which allowed all of us to have our best trek. This is so rare. Some of our group requested easier routes and their requests were supported by the guides and porters. Puru and the guides also quickly arranged for two of our party to be airlifted off the mountain—one from AMS and the other from exhaustion. Above the Himalayas made this a trip of lifetime for me. If I am lucky enough to go back to that area of the world again, I will call Above the Himalayas first.

Mr Puru owns & operates this company like a proper professional, and can be trusted to deliver excellent services that I consider best value for money. I joined my mates from USA to do the EBC Trek from 21 Oct to 3 Nov, and we enjoyed a safe, comfortable and memorable experience in beautiful Nepal. Mr Puru not only met but exceeded our expectations throughout this trek, whether it required him to flexibly adapt to change of plans, respond to requests for urgent helicopter evacuations, hospital admissions, and coordinate with his highly capable & reliable team of guides & porters. I consider Mr Puru's standards of service to be outstanding, whether it was the quality of accommodation & meals on the trek, or his access to a network of resources for arranging local tours, exchanging foreign currency at best rates, or providing sufficient time for acclimatization at high altitudes. Puru organised a 9-day EBC private tour/trek for a group of 2; and you couldn't ask for more. We booked last minute, we really needed someone to explain it to us, show us the ropes, make sure we had the kit, the guide, the knowledge, the plan etc ... and all you want when you book one of these things is someone you can trust, and someone who does the exact thing they say they're going to do on the day etc ... and Puru was faultless. He collected us at the airport, arranged the hotels in Kathmandu, the choppers up the valley, got a friend of his to open his kit store out of hours, sorted the best kit (sleeping bags for rent etc) and arrange for a marvellous guide and porter to meet us at Lukla - the choppers down the valley worked a treat, the entire experience was phenomenal. He understands his customers, he knows the valley, the good bits, the bits to skip, he can build an itinerary to suit any timeframe, and he can deliver on the trickier logistics, ie a helicopter where you need it/a night in a nice hotel when done and everything in between.

I don't write many reviews, but this one is entirely justified - if you're looking for someone to help you with a once in a lifetime Nepal trekking trip, look no further than Puru.

Puru and his team were fabulous! Puru is so talented and excellent at what he does. He made sure every detail was taken care of during our trip. He is very well established in the community and was able to take care of things quickly for us. I would highly recommend him!

Puru organised an alternative trip to Annapurna so we wouldn’t lose and days .

Way back in 2019 we first looked at the possibility of trekking.EBC. After alot of research and reading of reviews ,we decided to get in touch with Above the Himalayas Trekking because of the excellent reviews this company got online..From our first contact with Puru we had a feeling this was the company to book with. After a number of emails which were always answered promptly we decided to book with Puru and we paid our deposit for our EBC trek which was to start in early April 2020
However as we know the whole world went into lock down in March 2020.
Puru assured us that our deposit was secure and we could rebook later on when restrictions were lifted. Little did anyone know back then how long Covid 19 would drag on.
Fast forward today .After a couple of false starts in 2022 .We finally got everyone on board again for March 2023.bar one.
Having booked flights from Europe and Australia and our deposit holding good we tweaked the last few details with Puru via What's App..We have to say that from this point it was all over to Puru and everything went without a hitch.Everyone was met by taxi at the Airport and dropped to the hotel.
We had two nights in Kathmandu before the trek and Puru got us direct flights from Kathmandu to Lukla which is alot handier than a 4 hour drive to Ramechappe.We had previously met our guide Sitram at the airport 2 days previously and we then met our porter Buddha in Lukla. Both Sitram and Buddha were fantastic .They did everything possible to make the whole trek enjoyable and as easy as possible..We have to say that the teahouses picked were great and the food was good but a little repetitive after awhile. Great if you like Dal Bhat
To reach basecamp was a great thrill and we were even greeted with 2 days of snow on the way back down which added to the already fantastic views .
We had mentioned to Sitram in conversation that our hotel room in Kathmandu was a little noisy due to a night club nearby Sitram passed this onto to Puru without our knowledge and Puru said he would change hotel for us.As we liked the hotel and location we decided to stay on our return but we were moved to a quieter area of the hotel. This just goes to show the efforts Puru and his staff go to behind the scene so that you can have the experience of a lifetime.
If you are thinking about trekking EBC or any other trip we can't recommend Puru and Above the Himalayas Trekking enough.All you have to do if get yourself to Kathmandu Airport and Puru and his team will look after you from there.
