Paid $290.82 on Contra — No Work, No Refund, and No Real Support
I made a payment of $290.82 through Contra to a verified freelancer named Oluwatimilehin Komolafe (Timi) on October 5, 2025.
The freelancer delivered no work, refused to refund my payment, and even created his own rules after taking the money. The situation became worse when he began manipulating communication, gaslighting, and even threatening me after being asked for updates.
I have shared complete chat and payment evidence with Contra multiple times — including clear proof of misconduct — yet no resolution or refund has been provided to date. The support replies have been slow and repetitive, and there has been no meaningful action taken against the freelancer.
What’s most concerning is that I was forced to use Contra as the only payment method, which now feels unsafe given the lack of protection or accountability. Losing $290.82 (around ₹25,000) is a significant financial and professional setback for me.
I am posting this review so that others are aware — always verify freelancers independently and do not trust Contra’s so-called “trust-based” system without strong safeguards.
I sincerely hope the Contra team reads this and finally acts to refund my payment and investigate this case seriously.

Thank you for sharing your experience here. I have just taken a look at your case and since there was no contract associated with your payment we are unable to offer dispute assistance. I understand that this is not the answer you were looking for but without a contract we are unable to assist since these funds. They have already been released and withdrawn by the independent.
For future reference, if you do sign a contract you can always initiate a dispute to get our team involved. We also offer payments via escrow funds where we hold on to the funds until the work is delivered and approved. This is definitely the most secure way when working with an independent for the first time, I would always recommend this.
I also wanted to assure you that we are investigating the independent that you worked with to ensure that this does not happen again on our platform.
