Kingston Park showroom…don't bother.

We visited the Kingston Park showroom today, and were very, very disappointed.
We had driven over 60 miles in the hope of looking at options for a new separates hifi system, with a spend of around £6000. We thought that this wasn't an insignificant amount of cash, but clearly it was insufficient to generate any interest from staff at this branch of Tysons.
The manager was polite and pleasant, but clearly sees this branch as showcasing very,very hi end options of speakers and kit.(think footballer spends -££££!) With virtually no mainstream hi fi options on show here, "that's for Carlisle" the manager here advised.
We did explain that we currently had Bang &Olufsen ( no response), and that we were considering the Naim Unity Star, as we had other Naim products. He had one on display, but it was on a shelf, around 3metres off the ground, and although we stood in front of it, discussing it, there was no offer to get it down, or to demo it. Perhaps there wasn't enough value in this sale? Anyway, he told us he was not a fan of the Star, as "CD quality is no where near streaming quality". Despite my wife saying she had many CD's she still likes to play, he was really quite dismissive.
We left after 10 minutes, cross and pretty disappointed with Peter Tyson.
A 10 minute drive into Newcastle and a visit to another HiFi specialist, and our experience couldn't have been more different- engaging, enthusiastic, knowledgeable and nothing was too much trouble, and all without any expectation of a sale. Even the offer to get a Naim in from another branch within a week so we could listen to it, without any commitment! PeterTyson, look and learn.
Based on our 2 experiences of Tysons at Kingston Park, we really can't see how it survives ( unless the mark up on hi end speakers and kit is so huge, one sale can cover all their costs) and we certainly won't waste another 120 mile, 160 minute round trip journey.
If you want to view, listen to, and discuss quality main stream hifi equipment, then don't waste your time travelling to this branch- pop into Newcastle itself.
P.S. Just to add, we were the only customers in the store throughout this time, so it wasn't as if they were so busy they were stretched.

Perfect customer experience Great choice.

We have been looking for a new sofa, dining table and chairs for weeks and weeks, visiting pretty much every main stream furniture store on TV, and several smaller independents, before we got up to Stockton and Barker and Stonehouse's Teesside Park showroom. What a find!
We found what we were looking for pretty much straight away, but decided to call back a few days later rather than just rush in.
On our second visit, we confirmed our sofa choice straight away, but on looking around the huge showroom we then found a dining table we liked and a separate set of 4 chairs presented with another table.
A quick chat with Carole, the sales consultant who answered all of our questions easily, and she spoke to her manager and a deal was done. Sofa (English Heritage), 6 seater dining table and 4 chairs. Perfect!
Carol was so helpful. Discreet, no pressure sales chat, just simply answered questions and gave help or clarified things when we needed help. So much nicer than being pressured for a sale, and so much more comfortable for customers. A perfect experience. Can't wait for delivery in a few weeks...hurry up English Heritage!!

Avoid, avoid, avoid.

I still can't work out if this site is an elaborate scam, taking money but never delivering any items? When you delve into the reviews (not the glitzy positive ones) there are just too many customer reviews from people who have paid for goods, but have never received anything- nothing, to be able to put this down to just bad luck or coincidence.
The site has a ..."co.uk..." website address, but please note, it is not in the uk, it is in China and all goods are "supposedly" sent from China..or not?
Our dogs coat and leader supposedly left China over 3 weeks ago, and arrived in the UK 7 days later. But it didn't and despite daily updates that it would be delivered that day, it never was, and still, never has been.
I contacted their customer service through their website. Absolutely nothing! Dozens of other customers report being totally ignored too.
We are fortunate in that we paid for our order via PayPal. We raised a dispute with PayPal this afternoon and received a full refund within 5 minutes! It does make you wonder if DoggyKings have previous form? We have heard some say that the company keeps closing and reopening under a similar name. Very suspicious.
We would strongly recommend avoiding this company. There are just too many similar questions from too many customers who didn't receive their order or lost their money. And the company NEVER responds.

Great service from Matt.

Matt, at the Middlesbrough Outlet store, was so helpful and went beyond to help us with our purchase of dining chairs, wrapping them carefully and carrying them to our car.
The kind of service not many retail stores seem to value these days.
Well done!

Disappointing Rib Eyes

We took advantage of an on line offer from Campbells Steaks, and so based on reviews, we thought we would give this on line butcher a try. Sadly, we found them very disappointing.

We buy and cook rib eye steaks regularly, from farm shops, independent butchers and some supermarkets, so we know a good rib eye. Ours from Campbells, were not good rib eyes.

On unpacking the chiller box, which arrived promptly by DPD and was suitably chilly, the steaks looked unattractive and "squashed" as they had been vacuum packed.

They did regain some depth once unpacked and allowed to rest, but they were still thinner than we would normally purchase when we choose the cut.

We cooked them exactly as we would every other rib eye, allowing for tge slightly thinner depth, and although they looked good once cooked, we both found they had no flavour. None at all. We could have been eating any type of steak and certainly not a prime cut rib eye steak, selling at a premium price.

Despite subsequent discount offers from Campbells, we will not be placing any more orders.

Dreadful on line customer service.

Contacted customer services using their own on line complaints form concerning a delivery of 2x2.5l tins of timber oil- a heavy item.
Royal mail delivered 1 box with both tins in it and it was so flimsy and weak, that the bottom of the box had split wide open. There was no additional packing inside the box, so tge tins had been banging together and both were dented- really stupid and lazy packing.
I contacted customer services and sent them pictures of the damage. When they replied they said because of data protection (rubbish excuse) they could not comment unless I provided full details of my I.D. (which I had), the order number(which I had), details of tge product and the problem (again,which I had already provided. So I sent all of this AGAIN, only for them to respond a day later, saying they were sorry and would pass on my comments about the box!!! Oh and if I had any other issues, to go into my nearest store, (8 miles away, so 16 mile round trip!!!). Lazy and disgraceful. This will be the last time I use their online ordering and shipping option and read that I am not alone in my experience. How do these people ever get a job in customer service?

Fantastic engineer!

Peter, our engineer could not have been more helpful and patient.
He arrived in the middle of our house move to install our new broadband service and the house was in chaos.
He really went out of his way to help relieve our stress, cleaned up both inside and outside, and ensured we were happy with everything before he left.
A really great member of staff.

Our first and last visit.

Our first visit and we had assumed it was an upmarket chicken diner, sadly we were very disappointed. It was also expensive for what we ordered, £24.00 for 2 burger meals, 4 small chicken pieces. The food arrived quickly but wasn't piping hot and the fries had lots of black eyes we needed to remove. The ranch sauce was very sweet and added nothing to the chicken. The brioche buns were chilled which detracted from the overall experience. It's a new, bright, clean restaurant, but given its size, we were surprised it's been built with only one toilet! There was a constant que during our lunchtime visit!
So how does it compare with Macky D's and KFC? Not well, not well at all. We guess people will try it because it's a new offering in West Auckland, but probably, like us, will only visit once.

Excellent,helpful staff and great value!

Excellent,helpful staff. The branch didn't have my size 10's in (Karrimor walking shoes) so offerred to ring other branches to see if they had my size. They did and they put a pair aside for me to collect an hour later. Staff in both branches- Benton and Swalwell- were simply brilliant. And the Karrimors are great, very comfortable and durable. Great value too!
