Etsy ruining a global artisan market

Like many online platforms, the local governments NEED to regulate, prosecute. Etsy's own T&C said they will resolve the seller issue, refund...drags out seller buyer resolution to only tell me to go deal with my bank?! Issue, pricing shown in message center doesn't reflect what's discussed. Etsy doesn't clarify if the message center link will be transacted within THEIR intranet. Etsy, if the price isn't what you saw, you can request the difference from the seller?!
Unscrupulous Etsy complaint/ escalation process : can only respond online where the seller can read, NO transcript for ANY messaging method used - convenient.

Despite seeing the messages.Etsy's drawn out process allowed the seller to ship the item with a sketchy pricing change link.

WHERE is Etsy's support located in relation to their buyers? They are poorly trained or the ineptitude 's intentional.

Fourty pages of Etsy escalation screenshots,with all parties email evidence was sent to my bank. Etsy will not receive the funds.

There are excellent sellers I have dealt with. After reading HOW (good)sellers can be poorly treated, their profitability impacted by not advertising... I can better understand why I can't repurchase from ones I have previously bought from. It's unlikely I will use Etsy again after this ordeal.

ARAG (former DAS)increasing risk

ARAG former DAS appears useful for doing administrative legal paperwork. Positive reviews on trusts, wills, issuing a lawyer's letter to have a business honor a basic* agreement. However,if you have a contested legal issue. This is where the wheels fall off since the in network lawyer answers to ARAG who retains them for the insured. This arrangement will use your claim's legal expense coverage limit without you knowing how often,where the lawyer 's fees run up quickly. As the issue dragged out, these costs were shockingly available once a 'regulator ' was brought in to have ARAG honor the coverage as described. The 'regulator' needed to act and did nothing** The legal expense coverage was used mostly by ARAG,about 60% of the limit! Essentially, it appears this legal claim was 'dismissed'by ARAG more for the coverage being exceeded not the invalidity of the claim since their lawyer accepted it based on the evidence. This retained lawyer is a subject matter expert* as demonstrated in the documentation. The claim dismissal left the claimant legally exposed and paying: deductible to ARAG ,an unlawful fee demand to the other side's lawyers, about 1 year left on the statute of limitation for an active* legal matter. The tight deadlines,and required efficiency requires tactical file management. Judicious use of the funds within the claim. If not addressed where ARAG offers their legal expense 'coverage' will hurt a claimant's legal rights when ARAG controls THEIR assigned lawyer and the funding of the same. Creating a conflict of interest that cannot exist when litigation is already problematic for the claimant. Result of an ARAG managed legal claim going sideways due to their questionable actions. The claimant was not made whole on hundreds of thousands of dollars ,and left further compromised to date.

Buy Canadian - requires ROI

Canadian Tire buys out of business HBC can't be more symbolic of its potential demise. Clueless meet incompetence. HBC was resold and still couldn't compete. Franchisees crashing out of business under this license business model will impact CTC. It has required them to spend to update their stores while profits may not transpire. CTC doesn't maintain
franchise consistency,and CS clearly has no value. Christmas 2024, sold a defective and broken LED tree RESOLD as new. CTC is clearly inconsistent in their operations. Their infamous sketchy return policy when their franchisees appear to prefer to refuse returns. Yet some franchisees will accept and resell a resealed box as new. Isn't this fraud? CTC has been known also as crappy tire, the shoe fits.
It's 2025. Consumers have options , they can and do shop online,with items delivering in hours, within days. Incoming drones. AI will continue to delete human employees, benefit to the consumer, lose the poor customer service. B2C can be a detached transaction, Canadian Tire. Add CTC appears to be taking advantage of Federal incentives to hire subsidized Indian workers before Canadians. CTC can fade away with growing support of those who will exercise their consumer choice👍

Great CTC sold Helly Hansen,a historically good brand will not be tarnished or held back by inferior standards.

Decade later, the cable modem service suffered,and tech.support along with customer service lost that culture that made TS unique.Tek Savvy resells services from the major providers. CRTC has never granted Tek Savvy carrier status so it could buy spectrum ... ROBELUS prefer to keep tier A status. Tek Savvy in their earlier years resold services at much better prices,where they would offer the most data possible. CRTC allowed the oligarchy to change this,deny iOT competition. ROBELUS owns many of those alternative mobile providers. Freedom Mobile is likely the only other 'independent' like TekSavvy in Canada offering an option to the former🇨🇦 monopolies. Consumers need to complain, demand change

PoPtox no connection

Needed an interim solution to an outage with one of my numbers. The description of this "free" service appeared legit.since I think I read about it on a site like WiRED (?). Tried using the dialing from an android,got the mic denied error, changed the app.setting to allow mic. Did NOT get the option to turn on a mic. I tried again, fourth try. Like others, I got the "connecting"then "you've reached your daily limit"when I haven't connected to a call. PopTox website claims they will respond in TWO hours, well it's 72 hours now, nothing. info for poptox email listed ,send to it, "failure notice unable to deliver." This is the email they list for tech.support, and Trustpilot is using.

Answer the phone

The customer service phone number,no one picks up. Nobis the fashionable, athletic option to Canada Goose. Tried buying one of their sub zero friendly long coats,but they didn't fit for an athletic build. The fur around the collar with the shipped coat looked tattered,tried allowing it to 'fluff'up overnight. No go, returned. Enter Nobis. Never heard of this brand considering it was founded in 2007? Long coat remained the mission,and I located one without fur, windproof, a puffer on one side, reverse to waterproof on the other. Fjallraven doesn't offer any waterproofing in a long style that is -30C with the same function, aesthics. It's been 3 seasons of wear when the temperatures dove into -10 and less with a windchill. The puffer side can handle some flurries. I think its been only worn on the waterproof side a handfull of times. It is great knowing I can be warm wearing my Nobis long down in a t-shirt, and pants in sub zero temperatures. I also have their light beanie from donating to their no cold shoulder campaign,wear it even though it's not a natural material like wool* Experience was winter 2022

Tilley is UK not Canadian

Christmas 2023. Buy their jackets. These are really well made, down and wool. Emailed customer service to check on an item. It is now April 2024,and their customer service hasn't bothered to reply. The items were returned in December within the Christmas time limit.It is sad because I had to scramble,and buy other gifts. Replacement gifts,stuck with a Canadian company, the other, US, both loved by the recipients. Mountain Warehouse,also U.K.owned has terrible customer service,along with inferior product quality as a bonus in MW case. Hilco Capital doesnn't retain the Tilley in Tilley.

Yeti" If you need anything else, please let us know." Yeti and their disingenuous form replies. Reflected in similar ,or with the same issues re-occuring. Specifically with customer service?!

Yeti doesn't appear to understand,or care customers contribute to their existence. When business clients are complaining about messed up custom orders to which Yeti literally throws up a middle finger salute. Bizarre reading these reviews given Yeti's founding principles,excellence in outdoor products. IF I ever need to order custom as a Fortune 500,or buy for similarly sized or larger clients. Yeti is not receiving that P.O. Cannot deal with a partner who isn't organized to provide B2B support when events involving swag are budgeted at about $10k per person,or more. Including maintaining swag on a run rate basis for meetings, etc.

Personal Yeti drama. As a first time customer. I bought a few hundred dollars of their lowballs to not only try for potential corporate,but ADA related needs. These lowballs are not that great thermal wise compared with what I own in double walled SS cups. Shocker wasn't just this realization. EVERY one of the lowball interiors turned BLACK after using them with caffeine and water ,plus dishwasher cleaning over a few months of ownership. My other SS cups used in the same manner over years of use do not have these issues, turning black. Non Yeti,there might be some light visible caffeine staining IF any. These Yeti lowball interiors look like they were used with a flame🔥 Where some also have rainbow like discoloration/ corrosion. My concern, toxicity,how can this be food grade stainless steel?! This is a Yeti direct purchase , not AliExpress, or TEMU .


FF to the warranty. Yeti thinks its customers are illiterate. Their insertion of warranty parameters that don't exist is a further indication of a culture that disregards customers. Declined being disinformed into a resolution.

Like others, I SHOULD have READ the reviews.

NOT again

Read as many as I could since it's triggering to see Hamilton Beach be so brutal to loyal customers,any customer who simply thought they are a tier A brand. NOPE. Since 2018(?) Hamilton Beach cannot build a functioning website where customers can COMMUNICATE with them. Try using their site's webform, type out your message,it goes NOWHERE,errors. Try phoning ,it either hangs up after ...rings,or the bot babbles,and the system hangs up. Ordeal began in the summer of 2023, trying to reach customer service.

I was a supporter of Hamilton Beach post ordering a counter grill from a points program that was sooooo good! Tried an electric kettle when it came time to replace a plastic one was Salton I think due to age,and not wanting plastic. Hamilton Beach kettle lasted about a year? The warranty replacement lasted about 1.5 years. YES, they honored the warranty! Issue now, trying to tell them the dangers of the replacement. Shock risk,and hot steam leakage from where it should be SEALED to prevent scalding. Actually WAS willing to have a replacement under warranty again. Quality issues given the other reviews is clear. Also NEVER buying this brand, ANYTHING else they make* OMG,Hamilton Beach international appears to be in Mexico - explains culture ? It has a licensing arrangement with SubZero who owns Wolf for its Wolf line. I own a Wolf oven. Re-evaluating this situation considering the price point!!


Irony. If many here bought from Amazon,Sam's Club,or Costco, you may at MINIMAL receive a (pro rated)credit* on a case by case basis. NOT suggesting Amazon is perfect. They are reachable,and attempt to have functional staff* Hoping retailers tabulate the complaints, returns,and reduce their Hailton Beach orders!

ski jacket beginnings

As an outdoors person who happens to have a history of being a varsity athlete. When I am looking for outdoors oriented gear, I am disinterested in fashion,prioritizing function as well as aesthetics.

Helly Hansen may be better known within the athletic,and recreation community,especially in Europe. HH is gaining fans elsewhere. As I shopped at an outdoor mall during black friday, I over heard some shoppers begin to understand why HH quality is better in most categories it has products in.

My first HH piece was a ski jacket at a sporting goods store having their Christmas sale. It was something like an ODIN INFINITY INSULATED JACKET, or Alphelia Infinity Ski Jacket. The features were exactly what someone who spends time in arctic like conditions would want: water proof,pockets,Helmet compatible hood, Ski pass pocket,snow skirt/drop hem. I have now moved onto layers,and use a water proof shell,and mid layer, with base layer.These include merino from HH,one HH rain jacket, a HH wool lined sailing jacket as a mid layer. Retail store staff were great on visits,along with Nate,and Cesar in customer service helped me out.

Sporting Life is owned by Fairfax

Sporting Life is owned by Fairfax. Their own company description clarifies the poor rating for Sporting Life, personal encounter. Its focus is on property and insurance,investment management. Customer service as part of Fairfax "investment management" couldn't be a core part given the reviews. "Founded in 1985, Fairfax Financial Holdings Limited is a holding company which, through its subsidiaries, is primarily engaged in property and casualty insurance and reinsurance and the associated investment management."

The success of Sporting Life was likely built on a "local feel" where they were an informed source for items the "big retailer" may not carry. If they did, the experience was lacking, something Sporting Life delivered.

With retail competitor online options that include brands they sell who do direct B2C. Some with their own branded stores. Sporting Life is redundant. Add sub par customer service, risk of bankruptcy can be a real event. On street locations replaced by a condo development won't be a surprise.

Fairfax owns Golf Town who faced financial problems at one point.

With COVID,consumers became further acquainted with e-commerce. I bought a bike online in August from the OEM, about $600 CAD discount. Riding, highly visible to consumers, word of mouth (SEO, social platforms). October, spent directly with up market OEMs Sporting Life sells, about $500 CAD in discounts.

Despite wanting to support local. Sporting Life underscores why you wouldn't want to support them. They add zero value when consumers can buy while in the USA. Or in another continent where items aren't available locally.

Speaking with a long time customer who grew up in Toronto. It appears Sporting Life founders appear hands off. A culture shift where a consumer can hear from their lawyers in response to their consumer inquiry. Typical of insurance ,and clarifies my own impressions of "something isn't the same. " Conglomerates ( $B revenue) don't send their legal to respond to consumer inquiries until the latter initiates.

Cannondale quality missing

I am torn in writing this review because Cannondale customer service stepped up. Their phone number is mostly a miss . Where being able to reach someone may have been pivotal in the reasonable conclusion of my situation.

Why the Cannondale.I decided to look for an ebike where throttle wasn't a huge criteria. What I chose was an "entry" level priced ebike from Cannondale. On "paper" (few bike blogs) this bike appeared to meet the need. With limited reviews, literally nothing on YouTube from influencers.
Within the first week of owning the ebike , I found build quality issues. Being an ebike, one of the problems could lead to an unwanted fire. Perhaps this aided in a resolution other consumers didn't receive. The ebike was not going to be a primary bike. My use case required it to still be reliable, and safe,eg.not go up in flames, and burn my place down.

The good, this Cannondale had a design that turned heads in a major urban center filled with ebikes,and non ebikes. The aesthetics were as expected from a company such as theirs.

Cannondale quality, customer service process leaves me not wanting another bike from the brand Pon Holdings.

Lisa Lisson needs to fire staff,look at her CX reports, or resign. Front line is: rude , incompetent. August order never left the Woodbridge FedEx warehouse. It was returned to sender without a delivery attempt to the shipping address. Customer service phone system is 1990's where it isn't programmed to understand "customer service" means transfer to a representative.

ask for a check instead

Sketchy as anything when this product hosts the money you're being awarded through whatever program. Issue, their reps.don't seem to understand much,emailing them is like emailing your cement post. There was a reverse charge situation,and the customer service has no idea what this is.I had to dig around to located their paperwork,where you can ONLY fax it to this other department. This other department when phoned will do the following: answer without a clue as to why you reached them, redirect you to prepaid solutions who can't do anything, or hangup. Chargeback/reverse department response requires 45 days,thus you risk having your request age out. Even more ridiculous, the intellects at "Swift" Prepaid Solutions will tell you "no error occurred" to warrant a reversal. This is literally cash,and Prepaid isn't protecting the consumer's money,similar to a bank credit card.

If you end up with a balance that isn't going to cover a transaction while at a bricks and mortar. You will need human intervention. One that will be WILLING to go through the effort to punch in the card's numbers,and another key or so to allow you to FINISH paying the remaining balance using some other method. This is the worse part about the card, trying to FINISH using the remaining total.

Walmart location visited, I suspect was just being dishonest,and said they cannot use the card via manual input. SO, if a giant like Walmart doesn't "accept" the prepaid card, you can imagine the hassle.

As others have noted, this type of pre paid card is NOT ACCEPTED everywhere you may want to shop.

It's almost like prepaid digital, or the companies giving you a pre paid card want you to LEAVE money on the table because you give up from the frustration trying to use it.

There needs to be laws in how these cards are required to be cashed out in their ENTIRE sum. Recognized as a debit/credit transaction by all retail with debit/credit services. Where a customer can use the remaining amount against the total transaction. Online for example, prompted to use another payment for the remaining total. Gift cards can be used in this manner.

File a CFPB [The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau ] complaint.

Twitter has gone from deplatforming, shadow banning opposing opinions to banning , suspending , locking users in its current iteration. To "appeal," is the respondent another algorithm? Users reinstated claim one day turn around of their suspension while others appear to have no interaction to reverse the block. While Twitter rules appear quite simplistic in its effort to achieve "public conversation"... " Our rules are to ensure all people can participate in the public conversation freely and safely."The algorithm is doing something entirely different than the original Twitter by outright removal via multiple "complaints"potentially. No appearance of verification for a rule contravention takes place,and users who oppose a user's tweet are doing the removal of "free"speech. It is troublesome to see users lose their ability to engage with those who can hide behind regulations,or laws that can negatively impact citizens.

Make Grandma Boyle proud

They own Prana and Sorel . I have always liked the artic rated,huge Sorel boots. Prana, I like the quality of their clothing since buying a pair of tight style pants;amazing fit and comfortable. Columbia has an odd customer service model where they sometimes probably cost themseleves money. They tried to repair a high fill power, (pricey) down jacket I loved. It was unrepairable. I asked to simply have them replace my jacket with a comparable one,no was their response. Instead they over refunded me?! While the result makes me happy. The reviews on TrustPilot reflects the weird standards. Despise UK's
Mountain Warehouse. Columbia's Mountain Hardware very close in name causes a double take.

good luck - biom

About a year ago I bought leather casual biom lace shoes after owning a slip on pair that lasted about 4 years where the bottom soles wore down. Switched out laces with compression ones so I don't need to tie before wearing.


Left Biom shoe did tear my heel area. I kept them due to COVID. Wore a bandaid for
for about 4 wears. The shoe stopped scraping.


I also like the leather (sport) shoe inserts. Sockless feet. I buy their inserts for non ECCO shoes.

Like others reviewing, I don't usually wear one pair of shoes frequently. I am seasonal,and occasion. For me, I have been lucky with my in store ECCO shoe buys.

It is terrible when companies disregard their customers. Hope to remain an ECCO customer for a few more pairs.


No online ECCO purchaes yet,waited for stores to re-open during COVID. Glad I did.

Incompetent :
1.November 2020,drive to store,about 1.5 hour return trip.Rep.wouldn't refund 2 defective ice grips purchased online. It's COVID19,with lockdowns,not conducive to just wander around
2.used for the first time, winter 2020 snow fall,November .Item is dangerous to safety of elderly wearer gifted with a pair if it unravels,drops off boots for me
3.ice grips purchased for stability on snow,ice were a fail
4.November,contact customer service via web form over ordeal
5.customer service refuses to refund despite pictures provided
6. Customer service, without checking, informs me I am past return period; not true
7.customer service replies take so long,return period has lapsed
8. Customer service can't refund the item to credit card,option:PayPal /provide bank account
9.inform them I don't have PayPal.Will NOT provide access to a cash account via email,or phone they deem "secure." Google data breaches explains why
10. December,post Christmas,no solution. Call,ask to be given email with: store manager, authorized for cash refund
11. January 2021, no refund

Point of the above originally. Mountain Warehouse would take the defective grips to their vendor explain why an outdoor item for safety would rust, fall off boots after ONE use.

I am on my second pair of YakTrax. First pair lasted about 6 years easily before the steel, spring like grips broke.Used casually since I drive. Keep another pair in the vehicle in case of emergency, or I want to go on a walk.

I was happy before this fiasco with Mountain Warehouse. As an outdoors,athleisure fan.Sadly, I told friends, strangers about their products.
