US Mobile offers unlimited hotspot on their Dark Star plan, but will not allow you to use the sim in an actual hotspot device. My account was active for a whole ten minutes before the sim recognized that the imei of my device was a hotspot. My account was then immediately suspended. Before I had even tried to use it.

This restriction is never spelled out in their terms and conditions. Customer Service told me that only phones could be allowed for hotspot usage. They also repeatedly told me that this was to combat "excessive or abusive usage that negatively impacts network performance" but nowhere in the T&C does it say that hotspot devices are not allowed. There is one spot in #7 of the T&C that says "please see hotspot policy below", but there is not hotspot policy below, or above, or anywhere within the entire website.

I paid for service. I was not allowed a kilobyte of data even though I was completely within the terms of use.

I have filed an FCC complaint and expect to be ignored, but this is a horrible bait and switch.

The Customer Service did work with me to get a refund quickly and did cancel my service when I asked them to do so. This is the only way they gained that second star.
