I thought I'd be okay, this will at least be a good start to my van design. I was wrong.
The software download and install is painful. Reminds me of Windows 3.1
The navigation tool and logic applied is backward.
The furniture and cabinet options are woeful.
The autosave constantly nags. The file naming convention is 1980's. The export feature for gif doesn't work.
Reloading the van I found the mirror feature had stuffed up, some items had moved, and cannot see windows on the van when the sides are enabled.
All up. Save your money. Find an old etcha-sketch and thank yourself for having the wisdom others (including myself) have not.

I have been able to locate an account in the name of Stephen Watt however, unfortunately, I have not been able to locate any correspondence with our Support Team at all.
That really is a shame as there are a few things that we could have helped with.
Downloading should take minutes only, It is a straightforward download and unzip. Any issues that you may have had, we can help.
I am not sure what you may mean regarding the navigation tool, and as someone who uses it daily, I have not experienced this at all and would like to know exactly what is happening there for you.
We have over 100 pre-made objects that you can use in your layout (with another 200+ being added in V3) however, we will never be able to provide variations of all to suit everyone, that is why we supply 3D shapes so that you can create your own (or adapt existing ones)
You will very rarely use standard-sized objects in van conversion so these are going to be invaluable to you. You can read more about this here https://support.vanspace3d.co/hc/en-us/articles/360020670197-Using-the-3D-Shapes-to-create-what-ever-you-need
AutoSave is only to be used as a safety net, the user selects the time interval that this flashes up. Personally, I set it as every 30 mins and save it manually after placing a new object.
The files are vandata files. Specific to vanspace and stored locally on your device.
Finally, yes, there is a recognised bug in the mirror feature, the update is imminent however, we also have a fix that you can use. Bugs are normal in all software and we jump on them quickly.

this software is genuinely painful to use, it doesn't feel like its finished and really should not be sold to the public. the process of getting refunded is ongoing and has been almost as bad as the program itself.

I am a little confused by this review as I have been speaking with you myself.
You had contacted us requesting a refund however, you stated that you had been charged twice.
We had to respond to ask for the correct email address of your account as the wrong one had been provided, once received we were unable to locate any double charges.
We then responded asking you to provide some further information to help us locate this, to which this morning we have received a response stating that the fault lay with your banking app and that you had not been double charged.
I had already responded prior to reading this review with a satisfactory resolution for you.
I think a 1-star review for dealing with your query exactly how you wanted us to is very unfounded.
With regard to your comments on our software, we are always improving with every single update and appreciate all of the feedback that we receive, however, we must be doing something right for our customers to be able to create layouts such as these

Avoid awful
Awful, what the advertise vs what you get leaves a lot to be desired, I couldn’t get it to install at first then when I eventually did it was so in user friendly and looked nothing like the advert and when I tried to get a refund I was denied it because I had downloaded the software! Luckily paid through PayPal so eventually got a refund through them.. honestly buy some graph paper a pencil, rubber and ruler and save your money!

Our advert is an animation giving multiple design ideas, and does not show any interaction at all
Clicking on more info ( you have to do this to purchase so you can not miss it ) will show you the software in action and being used.

Terrible, not worth the money and their customer service is even worse. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY.
Get the free version of Sketchup, go to YouTube and you'll find loads of vids on how to use it, it took me a day of learning and now I recommend Sketchup over VanSpace3D every time.

Warning! I strongly recommend do NOT bother buying Vanspace 3d. Useless software and you will never get a refund. Their customer service is atrocious and even after answering their forced extensive surveys they will not grant it, instead they'd rather argue with 10 paragraphs an email.
This company is nothing but a money grab with a very low quality product. Don't waste your money.
Edit: In reply to your comment. Trust you to respond with that. Fact is, your customer service and ethics are atrocious, you are in no position to act like you are on any high horse whatsoever. There shouldn't have even been a discussion and it is the biggest crap I've heard that you love all your customers because the your communication says otherwise. You love the money they give you which is why you are so ridiculously stubborn about holding on to a mere $19 despite a plethora of legitimate issues raised and a customer that had your software for an hour before raising issues and asking for a refund.
I haven't dealt with such poor service in a long time. The extent of your emails trying desperately to justify your money grab, the fact that you have to mention my consumer rights and know laws so in depth is a key sign you deal with angry customers regularly. My review stays here. As a warning. I said in my very first email that I was happy to take a refund and leave it at that despite my concern with the quality of your product. I'm glad you've seen Trust Pilot and the shear amount of dislike you get here. I think a 2.1 rating is generous. Learn good service and basic decency first.

If you are only looking to drag and drop things around in a van this might be great for you.
PROS
- Simple/Easy to use
- Nice selection of vans to choose from
CONS
- Limited number of items
- NO Snap to wall features
- NO section Views
- NO way to export your ideas to drawings with dimensions
- NO refund if you are not happy with what you paid for.
If you are on the fence or possibly looking for something with dimensions (like I am) to aid you in the van build process. This product is NOT for you!
This is merely a visualization tool and should be advertised as such. This is NOT a Design tool!
You would not use this to build anything. Might as well get out some graph paper and draw out what you want.
COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY!!!

It is really good that you feel our software is easy to use, and that you also appreciate the selection of templates that we offer.
We do value all feedback and so I can confirm that the following features are being added in our next update very shortly.
200+ new pre-made objects - all suggested by our users
Layering so that grouped objects can be hidden to allow for section viewing
Snap to wall is not possible with a van shaped template. The outside area of the template must remain interactive so that objects such as vents are visible both externally and internally.
Snapping to wall would mean that this would not be possible. It would also cause objects to slant to the shape of the van template which, when for example you are placing wall cabinets, would not be helpful to your layout.
By exporting to drawings, you mean blueprints, which will be found in software that cost hundreds/thousands. We offer dedicated software for van converters for $19 per year.
Finally, our refund policy is very clear and transparent and displayed prior to and during the purchase process. This really should be read in full.
We always refund in full if there is a technical issue with our software that we can not resolve.
I am sorry that you feel that this would not be helpful when creating your layout however due to the vast amount of users that feel differently, we know we are doing something right.

Its cheap so i guess you get what you pay for.
Good things is the library of vans.
Bad thing is there is very limited content to fill your van with. You cant produce drawing with it.
So i guess if you just wanted to play around with very basic van designs or already had a design and just want to see it in 3d then this might be for you.
Its $19 so that is why its 2 star, if i paid more for this it would of been 1 star.

You are quite right as $19 for one years access for the only software dedicated to van conversion, it is incredible.
We do have a great library of vans and with the new features coming in V3, it will be pretty much unlimited.
The reason for this is that every single pre-made van template will be totally adjustable so if we don't have your correct year, it will not matter.
The new custom template generator means that you will be able to create just about every kind of template, OK you are not going to be able to create boats and helicopters but then we would not be called vanspace.
We are adding 200+ more pre made objects in V3, all requested by our users however, the 3D shapes that we also offer are invaluable for creating your own.

They advertise no design experience required, unless you are an expect CAD designer this is not the software for you.
Incredibly clunky and non user friendly.
Their customer service is an absolute joke. There's a reason they don't offer a trial version, no one would actually convert.

If you want to check out our Instagram, you can actually see some great layouts shared with us by our users.
We are not a CAD software, and so you really do not need any experience at all.
Even if you have no experience with living design software, we have walkthroughs, tutorials and guides that cover everything.
It does matter to us that you think our software is not user friendly; however, it is essential also to understand that you are not dealing with square shapes rooms and straight walls, but sloped and curved shapes of very different sizes.
I have reviewed your communication with our Teams and put the swearing to one side they have received; they really have tried to help you.
You have mentioned that you are finding the software slow on your system, which we can help with very easily once we have received some information about your system.
I can see that we responded within 24 hours to your original email; however, you mentioned that you had deleted and not read it. Once you informed us of this, we resent it.
All we need now is to get this information to advise if we can resolve it.
If we can not, we will refund you in full, but we are going to try.

Here is my honest experience as an experienced van converter, overlander and designer.
I found the advertised claims to be very appealing. In particular, I found the claim that they featured dozens of different standard components that you could place in your van layout - in 3D no less - as well as the promise of detailed plans you can actually build from. Important this - they say you can build from these plans. That is not the case.
The product is a brutal kludge. It is something you would typically see on Steam as a sort of indy attempt at a sim or game built on unity by a small team and priced at under $3. In no way do they approach value for the money.
Now that I have exchanged about a dozen emails with vanspace trying to get a refund which I applied for on the same day I purchased the app, I can tell you what I've learned.
In actuality what this company is doing is 90% marketing and 5% product and 5% astroturfing/customer service/social media management. They will say VOLUMES about their product and overwhelm you with long-winded emails explaining how they provide value. These emails are just using canned responses. Their refund policy is to make you answer a list of questions to rationalize why you just don't want their software on day one. You can tell that a LOT of people want a refund after seeing the app in person. There is a reason they don't offer a trial.
Regarding the promises for V3 - I did not buy V3. I'm reviewing the product I bought.
Regarding the claim of "good faith", well its clear they have no good faith by not considering a refund within 24hrs. That's not good faith at all. They are trying to get around honoring the consumer protection guidelines.
The sad thing is that they make promises that mean they understand the market, but they do not deliver on any of them. But the reason why I warn you away is that they do not honor the transaction and will take your money and run. DO NOT BUY this and expect an easy refund if it doesn't suit your needs. It's a trap.

I have been communicating with you. It seems that you are unhappy with using 3D shapes occasionally to create your preferred particular objects, to fit in your specific van template.
Whilst we provide you with many pre-made objects ( and another 200+ being added in V3), these shapes will be needed as we can not possibly provide you with every single variation of every single object.
This is not a software limitation; it really is a personal preference with these shapes expected to be used in 3D design software.
You are quite right that we do not refund if we have provided our software in good faith, exactly as described and shown, it has been used and no technical issues are experienced.
That is pretty standard with software.

Awful software
Software is horrible and nor user friendly. Customer service team is non existent and will refuse any refund as soon as you log into your account. I was used the software for a few minutes and they still won't refund my transaction. Pretty much a fraudulent company. Don not belive the ads or customer reviews on their website.

Considering the thousands of users that we have, we do not have that many reviews; however, you will notice some below that state that our software is too basic.
When we receive such varying reviews, we then understand that we have to accommodate all users skill sets and ensure that we add the more complicated features for those who want more and provide more basic for others.
So we are making sure all are covered in our new V3 .
We aren't like any other software that you will have used previously, as these probably would have been limited to easy square/rectangular spaces and straight walls. vanspace3D is dedicated to van conversion, and so we need to accommodate all of the slopes and unusual shapes that every van or bus contains.
We also need to consider that in van conversion, it is not very likely that you will use standard-sized furniture. It would be a little bit like trying to fit a square peg into a round hole, and because of this, we make sure that we provide the features that will allow you to adjust everything manually.
I can see that our Support Team are in direct communication with you and have been providing a lot of support to get you up and running.
Regarding being cheaply made, this is not possible, not with a full Development Team working around the clock.
I personally recommend practising with the pre-made layouts in the Get Inspired section of your online account. These are great to download and play around with to get used to the features.

non-existent customer service
I purchased this to use immediately on a layout for my van, but I couldn't find my van's layout. I emailed customer service that same day asking for help, and got an automated response that they would reply within 24 hours. 2 days later and no response so I sent another email. Over a month later I still hadn't received a reply to either of my emails.
I ended up drawing the layout of my van by hand. I filed a charge back with my credit card company, and sent in my proof of email attempts, and my credit card company investigated and eventually reversed the charges.
So this review is for non-existent customer service.
Edited to add: my email service doesn't do full email boxes it passes on every single email received, and I am on facebook under the same name as my order, and chatting was not an option on their website then or I would have done that since I wanted immediate help.

This software does what it says
This software does what it says, and although it might not look like the latest unity/unreal engine game out there, its sole purpose is to layout your van in relatively short time, trying out different layouts quickly, and have a clear idea of what you will build. This is no automotive Unreal5 or 3dmax or cinema 4d. And paying a mere 20 eur for it is just supporting these fellas to go on with their great idea and to make it better. For all those who says this is from the 80’s - (its actually cool too! ) get sketchup2017 and do your build there and hopefully in 6 months we could see some designs!!

I don't recommend this purchase !!! When I saw the product, I regret immediately and ask for the cancellation and a refund.
They are insisting that if I have a technical problem I should make contact with the technical department.
Although I am insisting for more than 2 weeks that I just regret and want my money back, they refused.
This is the worst customer service ever. !!!!

Please let me explain our refund policy; we make it as simple as possible.
Once you have logged in, if you wish to request a refund, a refund incident case is opened, and our Service Team contact you directly.
They ask for information regarding why you wish to request a refund; this may be technical information if you have suggested a technical issue. At no time have you been told to contact another team; our Service Team has already contacted you, and this is who you have been communicating with.
Once received, we will always attempt to resolve it. if it is a technical issue that we can not, we refund in full.
I can see that you keep advising us that you do not want to give this information, and so after 2 weeks, you were informed that the case would close based on the limited info you had given so far, which was not a technical issue with our software.
If you would now like to provide the information requested, we are more than happy to re-open the case.

Really dreadful software. Looks like something from 20 years ago. Wish I'd read reviews before buying. It's very clunky, the graphics are pretty basic, it's not at all intuitive. Don't waste your time or money
The fact they don't provide any software demo in any way and have refund T&Cs that make it impossible to get your money back after the first login means you're buying it totally blind....... Probably a massive red flag as I can't see how any reasonable person would part with their own money for something that's as poor as this.

We don't offer a free trial and do make this clear. The reason? Because a layout can be created in under an hour if needed.
We are listening when we are told that some users find the design stage clunky/basic; however, we also get feedback that it is /hard/complicated.
Not forgetting those who just create their layouts, share them with us and then move onto their real-life build.
This makes us realise that we need to make sure that we develop a UI that allows for easy use or more detailed and technical at the users choice.
So we have, and you will receive the upgrade to V3 for free very shortly.
