Absolutely useless virtually work for Tesco and not it’s Staff do deals on our behalf without even consulting all staff members must be the worst Union ever while they get there nice Tesco bungs

Absolutely useless. I joined them paying money every month then they could not help out with getting me holiday money my previous company owed me. I have heard other unions got things done..

I was a member for 10 years and you helped me when vindictive management singled me out for nothing other than doing my job.
My son started working at Marks and Spencer's in 2016 and,on advice, from myself joined USDAW.
When the problems hit the fan, he called you for advice and you couldn't get rid of him quickly enough.
And when he cancelled his subscription, you were so rapid in wondering why he did so.
More energy looking for his money rather than doing something to help with the abuse by the disreputable employer.

Pretend to know what they are doing.

Asked them not to phone me, the phone me exclusively and do not respond to emails.

Say they are happy to be copied in on emails
"Oh but I just have an ipad so it might not save it"
Laughable.

Keep telling me I will receive legal advice, still haven't received any in 3 months.

Waste of space and money. They should be shut down.

If I could give 0 stars I would completely waste of time and money, they don't do anything for you and they're only protected tesco , but that's is was happening when they're all work for tesco , how can we expect them to be independent???

Was a member for many years as part of my job. Complete waste of time. No help with any problems myself or other colleagues had. Basically always went with the employer when things were supposedly put to vote. Save your money instead👍🏻

I would rate it in negative if i had the option. I used to work for tesco where i had an issue . I decoded to call usdaw . I was transferred to c zone where the woman who answered my called sounded like she didn’t bother at all. Very rude With zero empathy and treated me like nothing . Later inwas given a call by zay or jay and the advice i was given was basic . No content . Even a kid could give me that quality of advice . Wasted 10 pounds every month for pathetic service . Would advise everyone to go for united .

pop quids down the drain every time you get paid. Usdaw. If you can't defend yourself or screw up regally then by all means pay Usdaw money. They prey on people in induction days, come into the room acting all friendly. Screw Usdaw, Read the fine print people.

Had to give 1 star but should have the option of none I was let down by this union on many occasions and for years. It came to a point where I caught them out a few times with backtracking and untruths and so obviously in the back pocket of my employer. They totally mislead me many times, no-one admitted to any wrongdoing even when I had proof , in writing or emails they would all group together and keep tight lipped. They made me feel like I was mad and ran me in circles. I had put my trust in them and they ruined my life. I had to leave work due to the collaboration of this union and my ex employer. I will never join a union again as they have damaged me too much. They took away my rights, reps and higher broke ethical rules, I was victimized bullied and stopped doing a role which was democratically mine and Usdaw allowed it to happen. They are as much to blame for my demise or even more so due to the half hearted and conniving representation which they delivered instead of the full backing and correct advice I paid for. I can no longer work, cannot leave my house on my own, don't live my life to its full potential and prob never will. Spent 3 years in my home unable to even stand on my doorstep and after lots of therapy I am still not even half the woman I was. Not just a slight wrong doing by Usdaw but a total life changer .... and they couldn't care less,I can never forgive them.. They have made me feel I cannot trust anyone and I'm not worthy of being treated fairly

crap do not join. I had trouble at work and needed their help, haven't heard back for weeks and keep getting passed around

Bullying Distribution workers at Tesco into Industrial action. Loss of pay to employees and bonus. I paid into this union for 32 years, they did nothing for me. All issues I had during that time were resolved by myself and my manager.

No help!! Waste of membership money

My husband worked for Sainsbury’s for 14 years and was deducted a union fee for UDSAW monthly. Dispute having an accident at work, the union did nothing. This was 5 years ago. Since then I have contacted them many times in an attempt to get him out of the union, asked that his fees be refunded and still they continued to take the money but no action!!! Please do not join as they are no help at all!!!

Usdaw reps try to make membership worthwhile, but thats not what I think. I work for a major company in the uk that were not only breaching my contract but their management actions broke the law and did not care! This was ar a time when the UK Goverment charged to to take a case to tribunal which has now being deamed unlawful. Citizens advice looked at my case and told me what I already knew and declared that I would win my case easily but it could cost me more than £1000 if I remember correctly I think it was £1250 and the judge did not have to award costs or give me my job back. I saw a women in the staff room sitting away from everyone not speaking to anyone in the staffroom. Someone who knew who she was asked me to speak to her as she knew she was from usdaw. I did and was disgusted to to hear the women say she did not say anything because she did not want to upset the management!

That tells me a lot. I was offered a free will as well as other offers if I joined the union. I did join but the will that was offered was not worth the paper it was written on because it id all done oneline and no signature are witnessed. that may be ok for some if you have family/friends but I have neither. I took it to a high street solicitor who refused to witness my signature because they had not drafted the will in the first place. The law on fees being paid for tribunals has now being recinded and for me at least the will was useless joining I consider was a waste of money. I think I was better off just saving the union dues that would have being paid in a savings account. Usdaw phoned me a number of times whist I was a member to to sell me other products, and they never did help me with my original problem!

Please don’t join them if your thinking of working for Tesco they won’t help you one bit I’ve experienced it myself they knew all about my issues before I even spoke to the union usdaw they are always on the managements side be warned!! 😡

After over 20 years of membership I have left it! The one time I needed help from them after being scapegoated by my managers at Sainsbury's, they did nothing. Our UNION rep was worse than useless and spent more time creeping up to the management that she was supposed to be helping defend me against!!! Even the area rep (Eastern Region) did nothing but say, not much we can do really. Seeing as USDAW did nothing, I've wasted my subs for the past 20 years!!! Even when I emailed them to tell them I wanted to cancel my membership, they didn't even ask why!!! They don't care about their members and are a complete joke. No wonder these big companies walk all over their workforce with next to know representation. To anyone thinking of joining, don't bother because you'll be on your own when push comes too shove!!! Worst union ever!!!!

They have no interest in helping workers. They left me a week before my court case because I rejected half of the money I'm really owed as a settlement. Stay away from them!! They will switch you from one person to another, nobody will deal with your case for good sake. Avoid avoid avoid!

Horrible. I have dealt with harassment from management at my place of work due to my disability. Not once, in 5 years, could I get our union officer to come help. They are a lot of hot air. No action. When I did have to contact the union officer, he was short and rude and made it clear he had no interest in helping. I used the legal help after suffering an injury at work that required surgery to fix. After 3 years of waiting for the legal team to pull their finger out, the decided they can’t help me. Completely useless and incompetent, the lot of them. They only care about taking your money. I’ll be speaking to a solicitor about getting my money back.

Totally incompetent, only interested in you joining up so they get money from you. If you need to join a union, make sure it’s not Usdaw. Even the general secretary “Paddy Lillis” does not respond to you when you appeal a decision.

Waste of time and money,made to feel like your the problem,it seems that they work in the best interest of Tesco instead of for you. Frustrated as haven't been able to get any further with a manger breaking my grievance. I just have to deal with my creepy manger or leave. Been made to feel like I'm just being difficult or blowing this out of proportion was hung up on phone by the rep and kinda told off because my husband called head office to complain about this whole situation. It was basically told have to comply or I'll be isolating myself seems as though they can't do much next best thing is take it outside of store. I have no trust in usdaw reps the staff in my store have no trust in the reps there as they all know that they are very biased as they are very chummy with management. I was told by colleague that usdaw are a waste of time and work for Tesco best interest. I now realise having been through my very serious matter that they were right this is definitely the case. I do not recommend them I don't and didn't feel protected throughout my whole situation. Usdaw at Tesco are a complete shambles. I'm leaving and joining the GMB as I have been told by colleagues and my husband that they are better.
