They don’t help at all don’t waste ur money

Called to speak about reclaiming unneeded holidays, was greeted by an unnecessarily rude woman who told me that it was pointless trying to get the holidays back because I won't need them for the rest of the year anyway and that I should just "buy some paint and get on with it". Defending the company because in difficult times they don't need pressure from staff, how about defending the staff who have risen to unrealistic levels of pressure from management and head office?. I would appreciate a polite "no" but this woman was just plain rude about the situation. Save your money and don't fall into this trap.

Save your money and don’t join USDAW, Morrison’s Kirkcaldy rep is worse than useless, he works night shift but more often than not is off sick (still posts on Facebook down the pub though), fed up trying to get hold of him even when he isn’t off, we have a Union Rep who leaves well before his official leaving time at 6 in the morning, not any good for us who normally start at 7, if by some miracle you can get hold of him about a H&S issue then he will do absolute zero which is what I wish I could give USDAW, the worst Union in Britain, biggest mistake I ever made was joining, USDW recommended we accept the 20p an hour pay rise! The Union is totally in the pocket of the Company. 20p an hour! By all accounts from the guys on night shift the rep is just as useless on night shift, useless, lazy and hopeless are the main words used to describe. DO NOT JOIN this union, save your money.

I am a rep but it did not stop me being discriminated against. Usdaw provided me with area support and all the knowledge I needed to make sure that I remained safe and secure in my job.
On another note, they are also (via the free legal service) handling a case for me. No matter what the outcome, I have the chance to tell my side of the story in a legal and concise manner with no costs to myself.

My partner is a manager at a Morrisons supermarket which is in the process of restructuring management roles within its stores, these workers are being treated appallingly by Morrisons who are trying to force managers out of the roles on the cheap leaving many loyal workers worse off with a large reduction in hours and pay, Usdaw appear to be sat on their hands over this one, cannot understand why they have not orchestrated a media campaign to highlight the plight of the workers they represent, my partner has had zero help from this union, neither has anyone else and zero communication about what they are doing to help. Don't waste money with this lot they are ineffective as a Union.

After 20 years membership am leaving this USELESS ineffective union. They are there totally to protect Tesco, and their interests. Have given away all the benefits we used to have at Tesco, without a murmer. No more bonuses, free shares, double time on Sundays, time and a half overtime, fixed hour contracts, full time contracts, I can go on....
Am leaving before they fine me and throw me out for taking Tesco on. Reps totally pro Tesco, area organisers, pro Tesco...it would be joke, if it was funny.
Have always been pro unions, but this crowd is a special kind of special!

In process of cancelling membership. Union rep absolutely no help, practically threw me under a bus. I should have listened to work colleagues before I joined who advised me not to waste my money as they are in the company's pockets... Found this out the hard way. Horrible experience having to sit there and get ridiculed and shouted at by vile biased woman in HR as rep just sat there and said nothing at all. Workplace is an awful place, breeding den for bullies and liars and they are aware of this but I was made to feel in the wrong when I reported it. My mental health as well as my physical health is suffering because of all the problems. When I went to see union rep she was champing at the bit to be involved but when the meeting took place she was like a sheep and afraid to butt in even when I was being spoken to with contempt, completely useless. Thinking of writing an article on social media and local media to make others aware not to join this useless union. If you're being cajoled into joining USDAW by any rep at your work with promises of help and support... DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY! Every review on here is scarily the same as mine so please take heed. USDAW is pointless. 😒

About seven months ago I was in a disciplinary at work so I phoned up my union when the union rep turned up at my work place everything was going good until the time I needed her the must and she was not much use even the legal advice wasn’t much help

I was with this union for 2 years. When I faced a disciplinary, I contacted the London regional office, The Rep was extremely rude. I was very scarred to Talked to him.
They are advertising they will represent in any investigation. but he said they have no time, or enough staff for that. they can help only after 1 month. and he said he will give me points to me, to tell in the meeting.and shouting at me. If i asked anything he said " listen to me" . He even told me i might loose my Job. but nothing serious happened to me.They did not do any help.
My advice is don't pay any money to these unions. they are waste.
They don't even bother to take customer feedback. when I called Head office they said If I complain they will investigate.

Filled in forms with sensitive info. recorded delivery when off work for over 6 months for a membership benefit. Given the run around, one time admitting to signing for receipt most recently denying any knowledge of it. One time Gloria not in office, redoing the office, next time Gloria off sick but others can deal with it, next time Gloria has now left. Louise at WalthamX offered to send out forms again. I don't think so, she tried to pull up everything you said ie. I mentioned refurbishment but said that wasn't done in the office just some new wall, said I was told it had been signed for previous she asked who said that her tone being dismissive. The reality is what we deep down know, Unions on an individual basis are woeful. Their in-house magazine is a booklet of propaganda. I will make a complaint to the ICO, I recommend all to do that.

This is a money scam!!
The union rep in my work environment sent threatening text and when I had spoken to the usdaw office they made so many promises and didn't even turn up!!! Do not use this company total waste of money!!!

I was a member of Usdaw Union for 7 years. It was a total waste of my money. One of the Reps was the rudest and most arogant person in warehouse. Hes looking out for only his own benefits and ironically acting against workers. Absolutely terrible experience. Usdaw Rep was my worst collegue during 12 years in this warehouse. Tesco managers have a much better attidude towards workers than Usdaw Rep. That's ridiculous.

Unfortunately my experience was rather poor, spoken to rather rudely over the telephone by a union rep, was asking for some help and guidance over some major changes over a work issue, wasn't at all helpful.

Having rung my local rep only to be talked down to in an aggresive manner like I am a petulant child I am leaving. My local rep had no care for me or what I had to say and simply shut me down everytime I asked a simple question and seemed very annoyed a colleague of mine had also spoken about the same issue, how would I know ? yet I was spoken to very rudely as if it was my fault, I will be leaving USDAW as soon as I can as they seem to me to be full of career union people, like career politicians with little or no concern for their members and do not want to know problems workers face whether real or percieved, they should listen NOT dicate and dominate.

I work for Tesco I have been a member of usdaw for 5 years what a waste of money I used to be rep for them which I enjoyed . I am no longer a rep as rep meetings in store are all about bad mouthing managers or people who have a job to do and if the reps don’t like them they stand no chance at all you get no support from them they just take your money each month and run !!!!! The useless asdaw .My wife works for tesco Glasgow silerburn tesco extra and my self too,my wife had a problem with one of the managers , my wife called the asdaw union in glasgow she spoke with the asdaw representative she was checked by his answer he told her your problem is like a storm in tea cup let it go , from his answer to her I realised that he wasn't bothered to deal with the issue, it is so sad we are contributing ,is because of us you are getting payed shame on you if you call your self a union.

Absolutely useless, going through redundancy process and after making multiple contact with office to get a representative involved to ensure the process is being followed correctly by my employer, I have been left to my own devices, being constantly told that the rep who should cover my area is on holiday, always 'out of the office'. When going through such a serious matter as redundancy and pointlessly paying my fees for many years now, the support needed is not there when required. If I could take them to trading standards to reclaim my payments over the years I absolutely would!

Disgustingly bad Milan at the Bristol office didn’t want to help me wasn’t interested in my issues Pav lied to me about what the outcome of my appeal would be like if they refused to reinstate me a ACAS contacted milan on numerous accasions to discuss my case and he refused to reply.. I’ve wasted hundreds of pound out of my wages on this union and felt completely let down.
