If I could I’d give 0.

I cancelled my direct debit as advised by the unison customer services as I was told they couldn’t cancel the subscription themselves.

This was later contradicted by several emails from customer services asking why I’d cancelled via my bank and needed confirmation from me if I wanted to cancel.

Unison then wouldn’t refund me the monthly payment and told me I’d left it too late despite having emails spanding over a month of trying to cancel it. Nobody ever gets back to you until you stop sending them money, then they bombard you!

Then received rude emails from a customer service member who clearly did not understand the situation or grasp what I was trying to explain.

My suggestion is would be find an alternative union. Avoid avoid avoid!

As others have said, if I could give zero stars if I could. I’m an Employee of 23 years and the one time I needed support it wasn’t forthcoming. Emails and phone calls unanswered and in the meantime found out union rep was speaking to HR on a regular basis but I hadn’t had email or callback! I have now found out through seeking alternative representation that because of delay my discrimination claim was 3 months minus 1 day! Has anyone else had sane experience?

They spent more effort ignoring and misrepresenting me than giving any kind of genuine help and advice. Probably colluding with employer and sabotaged my case.

I appealed to Christina McAnea, general secretary hoping to shame them into helping me. Christina didn't have the decency to reply. So its rotten from the top.

Frankly starting lack of interest. After having called and emailed several times and having never received a reply I gave up. I have some relevant and serious issues at work which I really need advice on and my local branch at the University of York seems incapable of any kind of reply apart from "what do you want?" Seemingly a waste of £20 per month.

Join someone else is my advice.

Apalling service. I asked for general advice and had to jump through hoops to even request it. Needed to fill a form in even to speak to someone. Have waited over two weeks with no response from my rep. I will be withdrawing my membership and asking for a refund on my fees. Don’t waste your money

They don’t write back to you nomatter how much you email them they are not helpful at all they completely ignore you.

You don’t know how bad they are till you need them . Everyone says this but if you need them to fight for you in court there is no chance at all they made a decision not to take my case up against the hospital for disability discrimination without even seeing my evidence and a outside solicitor said my case was that strong I could fight it myself without a solicitor I had to file for my own tribunal they wouldn’t even answer the phone to do it for me don’t waste your money hospital Domestic Londonderry Northern Ireland trade and standers should shut them down

Don't bother going with this union I have paid my cons for over 22 years and when I needed them they let me down big style

DONT GO NEAR THIS UNION, Paid contribution's for over Twenty years was sold the service would provide legal advice if needed, After twenty three years and first time of asking for support which needed legal intervention was told unison dont't have their own legal team and it would be referred to local solicitors who would not take on any case unless it has 80% plus chance of winning where mine was 50- 50, absolutely useless only good at taking your money, READ REVIEWS 90% + OF REVIEWS CANT BE WRONG

No starts!! My question is how many people have applied for legal assistance under the rulebook? How many people are being screened out in order to save money? Have people won any cases with this organisation? I t seem they say so much and the reality for members is not so great.

They take your money, but you get NOTHING in return. They occasionally answer the phone, give you another number to call, nobody answers.. and this is pretty much it! I'm going to see if I can report them to a regulator, if there is one..

Was a member for 6 years. Always on management side, impartial and not very pro active. Not supporting members at meetings etc. Going away with managers, at the end of meetings etc when they should be chatting to their own members. Amateurish at best.

It's only when you need to use unison for help that you realise how bad they are. I was given incorrect advice by oldham unison and when it was clear my rights had been breached I got silence until it was too late to do anything. Tried contacting the manager silence, head office passed me back to the manager who continued to be silent. I would never trust them or be a member again and I will always tell others of my negative experience.

STAY WELL CLEAR These people are totally rip offs they play upon your vulnerability they’re not there for you. They’re only there to take your money every month they do nothing at all. I am appalled

Worse than useless ... Uncaring, unconnected and utterly ineffective

Despicable service! 😡 My colleague had an issue at work and needed a member of the union. After delaying for about 3 weeks, he came and during the hearing, he left, saying he had something else to attend to. Really? What’s the whole essence of joining the union? I’m definitely terminating my membership!

Contacted them soon as a work issues came up and I have been emailing over documents and files and in that time, I had had a disciplinary hearing, an outcome. The appeal and appeal hearing and outcome and had nothing back from them. Before this point I recommended all my colleagues join a union and recommended unison. Now I have had to get legal advice elsewhere and get support elsewhere. Been consistently told they are busy and will contact me soon as a rep becomes available. I first spoke to them over a month ago! I will be cancelling my membership and finding a better union!

I am going to re-write the review I gave some time ago as disabled members need to know that Unison "have NOT got your back" I was victimized after I tried to expose fraud committed by one of their reps. As a disabled member I required "reasonable adjustments" which almost two years of pleading for fell on deaf ears. Management then took forward malicious allegations to force "supported improvement" on me. After initially attended one meeting they disappeared. I demanded full time representation which was "offered" by Julie Ballantyne the treasurer, who as an elected official, is not allowed to interfere in individual cases. She brushed me off with a meeting 15 minutes beforehand having arranged this "behind my back" with managers. I ended up dismissed because no NHS manager would employ me due to my disability - which I have on recordings yet I was told I failed to "constantly remind managers" I was disabled by other higher level managers. Was I to wear a star on my shirt? One star is one too many!

Id paid into Unison for over 10 years , paying my subscription on time and without fail.
On the last 2 occasions ive tried to contact my regional office for advice on serious work issues ive had no reply whatsoever !!!! Disguising service . Can i reclaim my subscription?
