DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

If I could have given this company no stars I would. I had a fault with my boiler, an engineer came out. He asked me to provide a ladder, he has a couple of screws drivers and was googling on his phone he didn't look like he knew what he was doing. He said he couldn't do a repair there and then and would send a report to my insurer and I would hear something by the end of the day. (Wednesday) Thursday I asked for an update on the app, it said next update 13th March (Friday). I didn't realize that they had sent me an email asking me to ring them. When I rang them they said they couldn't do a repair and I wasn't covered and to get my own gas engineer to repair boiler. Because it was Friday afternoon the earliest I could get an engineer it was the following Tuesday so nearly a week without hearing or hot water. My gas fitter repaired it in less than an hour and a half and that included leaving to go and get a part. I got a letter today said that my complaint had been decided that the engineer did everything he was supposed to do and that I wasn't covered because my boiler was beyond reasonable repair. There was corrosion and rust. How plastic parts can rust and corrode is beyond me. This company is useless, I am do glad I stayed with family rather than booking into a hotel they said I was covered to do but had to pay myself and reclaim.

Absolutely useless I rang them to say I had a leak and I actually had rats. . At the time I never knew that you aren’t covered for vermin control. However, I expected them to sort out the blocked drain 2 to 3 weeks later I heard from them saying they had the wrong phone number for Me Me but they didn’t think to email me to doublecheck. In the meantime, I had to pay a private person to come and unblock the drain. They said they would cover that course, but of course I played someone cash and it’s not easy to prove that as it was an emergency but the thing is they left me with a block drain since then communication has been absolutely useless. The compensation they gave me was absolutely insulting.

I got this cover free with my insurance company but to be honest it’s completely useless anyway unless you pay for the plus service which I wouldn’t pay for anyway I’d rather go with a private contractor in the future

It’s taken two months to sort this problem out and I’m still money down

Amazing service

Amazing service an engineer was called under my emergency cover through policy expert home insurance for leaky damaged pipes arrived within an hour and quickly repaired by adding a new pipe and whatever else was needed thank you 😊

Phoned this company when our boiler…

Phoned this company when our boiler stopped working.. seemed quite efficient when they sent a plumber the same day… he was miserable … here for 15 minutes and said there was no power going to the boiler so it was an electrical problem… l phoned later that day to see when a electrician might come out to be told they were waiting for the plumber’s report and would contact us.. didn’t get a phone call so l called again the next day and was told it took 24 hours for the report to come back then they could take further action… 48 hours later still no contact from them so l called a plumber out who sorted it in 15 minutes… it was a isolated trip switch to the boiler caused by a surge of power which the previous plumber should have known… l have a disabled husband who relies on the heating and hot water… will not be renewing my insurance policy with policy expert who use Sedgwick

Awful. A home emergency will turn into having your week ruined with sedwick.

Awful. Had a boiler leak, Admiral home emergency insurance put me through to sedgwick. They sent out an engineer who said I needed a new valve, another engineer turns up a couple of days later. When we turn the heating on in the eve, the boiler says 'connection error', there is no hot water, no heating and it is STILL dripping! So the engineer has made it significantly worse and more of an emergency.

I call sedgwick. They say the problem is fixed so I must make a new claim through Admiral.

I call Admiral, after many hours being passed around and being on hold, they say it's within 30 days of the original problem (yes, it's a few hours after the engineer left) so it's the same claim and I need to speak to sedgwick.

At this point I've been on the phone getting passed around for 4 hours. It's late at night, there is no heating or hot water and the boiler is dripping onto the gas stove so I can't make any food. This is how I spent my valentine's day, crying and yelling with frustration at these knuckledragging morons.

Eventually sedwick say it IS the same claim BUT I'm only covered for 500 gbp of repairs and they've already spent most of that on the engineer who caused even worse boiler problems so no one will take the job and I'll have to pay for it myself.

So what they've done is cause me days of stress and phone calls, they made the problem worse and more expensive then told me I'll have to pay extra to
fix this.

Additionally they told me when I filed the claim I would be reimbursed up to 50gbp on a portable heater, so I bought one. When I tried to claim the reimbursement, sedwick said I have to speak to Admiral, Admiral said it was sedwick and round and round in circles again and for another few hours of being put on hold and passed around. Eventually they said they'd only pay the reimbursement of 42 pounds if I paid them a thousand pound excess. Again. Wtaf.

This service is absolutely the worst thing that can happen to you when you have a home repair. It's a disgrace.

Poor Service.

Our experience is with Sedgwick Home Emergency, as part of our Policy Expert Home Insurance Policy. Called to report a pest issue in the loft, likely rats or some other rodents. No return call or contractor call as promised over the phone, just a text message to inform us of a date for their contractor in two weeks time! Sadly we have had similar experiences in the past with this company, including no-shows from contractors, and poor communications from everyone involved. They offer for you to seek your "own trades," with wording that doesn't fill the reader with confidence about reimbursement. This company could save their customers much hassle/time in telling them to arrange their own emergency contractors from the outset, rather than misleading promises. Our advice is to record all your phone conversations (as they do), and document every bit of correspondence, so that you can complain in full when necessary, and raise concerns to the ombudsman. Reading other reviews it is unacceptable that a company can go on for so long treating customers like this.

Excellent service from Sedgwick Home…

Excellent service from Sedgwick Home Emergency Network. The company they sent out, Strathclyde Heating &Utilities were excellent. They were fast, efficient and arrived on time. The repair was carried out to a very high standard. The communication from Strathclyde Heating Utilities was first class before, during and after the job.

Reporting an emergency after 49 hours invalidates the claim

Having realised I had cover for an issue that started 2 days ago, I made a claim to be told that I'm not covered due to it being outside a 48 hour period. The time I put was less than 49 hours! Very disappointing and I will not renew my home insurance that uses this company for emergency cover.

FAO ADMIRAL CUSTOMERS Admiral Complaints number I found is : 0333 220 2003

~ The Admiral Complaints number I found is : 0333 220 2003 (pls google it for surety). Now I will not bore you with the detail in full of the misery we (2 Vulnerable adults) have experienced not having an emergency boiler repair being able to be appointed for 6 days by Sedgwick , during sub zero amber and yellow alert Met office warnings. This has meant no Heating/ Hot Water or consequently bathing facilities !! As the Housing Complaints Officer for a large Housing provider I recommend calling Admiral Complaints team directly ( as opposed to calling Sedgwick who answer the phones as Admiral but who are in fact Sedgwick ). I found satisfaction by : CALLING ADMIRAL COMPLAINTS DIRECT ON 0333 220 2003 AND 1) REQUEST A FORMAL COMPLAINT 2) MAKE THEM GIVE YOU THE COMPLAINT REFERENCE NUMBER 3) IF THEY FAIL TO RESOLVE THE SERVICE FAIL , then refer them to the Financial Ombudsman Service on 0800 023 4567 (FOS Helpline number ). I found this makes Admiral take accountability to the service failures so many of us experience/suffer.

Break my Boiler

Break my Boiler

My boiler was working ok but there was small leak from inside the boiler. I called Admiral, they have reffered to Sedgwick and Sedgwick send a contractor named( heatcraft). The guy came and break my boilder and my boiler stopped working. I was out of hot water and heating for 1 day. After two days they ask me to hire the local contractor. This is how they work. This company os world worst company with unprofessional engineers. its complete waist of time.

A total waste of time and money

Have home emergency cover with Sedgwick through Admiral insurance. Contacted them as hot tap in only bathroom will not turn on or off and having to turn off at stopcock to prevent flow of water but turn on again to bathe, flush toilet etc. First person I spoke to was polite and very apologetic when they explained it wasn’t covered. I called a few hours later to provide further information, including the realisation that I also have no hot water in my only kitchen when stopcock is closed. Spoke to a different person. She said she had taken all the details and then put me on hold for a few minutes before coming back to say that they would reconsider the claim and call me back. Specifically asked me when I would be available to take their call. Heard nothing so called back the following afternoon to be told by a third person that there were no notes about my second call on their system, they had not and would not reconsider my claim and that they were never going to call me back. Either incompetent or lying. Or both.

Accept that the tap issue may not be covered but appalled by their customer service. Asked for an email address to put formal complaint in writing - said they can only take details of complaints over the phone, which they clearly cannot be trusted to do, never mind act upon the complaint. Said I will contact Admiral to complain about them using such a shoddy company. Will certainly not be renewing with Admiral while they have a contract with Sedgwick.

No show.

Takes ages to answer phone. We were told they would send someone to restore the power in 93 year old parents bungalow and we're given a date if 4 days away originally. When we complained they gave a window of between 3-8,pm. We first called late morning. They did not arrive; 93 year old couple, one with dementia. !!!!!!!!!

No wonder the reviews are poor, shocking service

No wonder the reviews are poor! No hot water, that started on Friday, although the heating was on and the hot water did fire up, so I thought I'd leave it for a day or so. I rang this morning, twice (first time no response), to be told that it wasn't covered because I had 48 hours to report it and because the problem started on Saturday, It wasn't covered. No shades of grey here, with an ill wife, and no hot water for 3 days. If I'd have lied, I'd be covered. Pathetic. First time claiming having had the policy for a few years. I won't be renewing. There was no empathy on the other end of the line. Appalling service

APPALLING COMPANY

I first contacted Sedgwick International (UK) Limited in May this year re a problem with a continuously refilling toilet cistern.

An engineer came and sorted out the cistern but in the process dislodged a water pipe resulting in a leak which caused damage to the ceiling and wall in the kitchen below, a second engineer then came out as one of the pipes had not been sealed correctly.

Apparently this is a separate issue and they were not liable for the damage due to get out clauses in their Policy. The attitude of the company was appalling and in the end I took my claim to the Financial Ombudsman who agreed that the service I received was not up to standard.

Miserable and terrible company

I sent an email requesting a refund under my policy on 29.10, not even an answer I have received untill now. This is the worst home service provider ever, they will let you without support. The lack of respect with the customer is unlimited.

Appalling communications from a company…

Appalling communications from a company that proudly state on their web site that they are a caring
organisation. My insurers Admiral appointed them to deal with a boiler issue. They appointed a third party to attend (Service Plus Home Care ltd). The engineer who came clearly was not versant with my boiler and had to keep referring to his I phone finally announcing that he needed to order a printed circuit board and a gas valve. Said he would place the order. Although he could see that we are both in our late 80's and that my wife is disabled he was unable to show any compassion or arrange for alternative heating (it is November). As I had heard nothing about the repair going forward I chased Sedgwick to be told that they were not going ahead as they had deemed the 9 year old boiler as unrepairable but I could seek another opinion. My advice is steer well clear.

Do not use this company

Do not use this company. They are useless and tell you a pack of lies. 7 weeks I have been waiting for a tap replacement and they still haven’t done it. Stay away as clueless and useless.

Avoid Sedgwick. Just awful.

I had cover as an addition to my home insurance. Yet when I had a blocked toilet over a long weekend, they failed to send anybody out. When I complained they said I could arrange my own contractor and get reimbursed. However now, months later they are still quibbling and demanding the invoice be reissued

'we will need a fully paid itemised invoice submitted. Please note any permanent works or trace and access is not covered under your home emergency policy, as home emergency will only cover for temporary repairs until a permanent repair can be arranged. The invoice will need to show,

Callout charge/s (individually priced)
Labour costs (individually priced)
Parts/Materials used (individually priced)
A Complete report of works carried out and outcome'

I don't think the contractor will issue a fresh invoice.

Avoid Sedgwick. Just awful.
