Professional instalation worked in a clean and tidy manner.

David was on time, informative, clearly explained what tolerances he had to apply when carrying out the fitting survey, triple checked all his measurements and did all of this without being patronising to a lay person. Fitting date supplied.

We had a man visit our home to talk about installing shutters. He was friendly at first but we said we wanted tier-on-tier and wanted them all to be lockable, and he suddenly got agitated and started being really condescending. He said that's not possible, saying repeatedly that he's never even heard of anything like that, that nobody will do that, and doesn't know what we're talking about, that we weren't tall enough to reach locks at the top of the window anyway (not sure if he's heard of footstools). He talked to us like we were complete idiots and the most uncomfortable part was that he was very obviously trying to keep his cool.

We told him that we've had two other shutter companies visit us and they had absolutely no problem with our request. At that point he said that they obviously weren't the right company for us and left. We felt very relieved when he was gone.

We even left it a while to leave this review so he would've long forgotten where we live.

He doesn't belong in this job. He has a big anger problem, he also didn't know what his competition was doing. He was a fairly tall, fairly old guy, with his hair in a ponytail.

On top of that, the shutter samples from this company felt noticeably lower quality compared to the other ones who visited us and were not cheaper

David arrived on time and was really helpful and thorough. I would 100% recommend him.

Winston’s installation of our shutters today was exemplary. Efficient work and all the mess and packaging taken away. Will be having more of the same in the future.

This is to warn people thinking of purchasing electric blinds from Sanderson / Hillary’s blinds are only guaranteed for 5 years after that there is no after service rendering your blinds useless

I had rooflight blinds fitted in March to protect and insulate in the heat of summer. These very quickly ceased to function, as the rechargeable batteries failed. Despite these being replaced, the blinds will now only open and close when connected to the mains. I have repeatedly contacted customer service, but the issue remains unresolved.
I would not recommend using this company

The benefit is that you can speak to someone who promises to help.

Unfortunately deadlines pass and nothing happens.

There is something seriously wrong with this company.

Thomas Sanderson and Hilary’s are part of the same group owned by Hunter Douglas Limited based in Nottingham. We had some shutters installed in our cottage back in 2022. This year we decided to replace the timber windows with new double glazed units. Unfortunately, this involved removal of the shutters. The window fitters quite rightly said they could not refit the shutters so we contacted Thomas Sanderson to enquire as to whether they could assist. In short they cannot and will not. More importantly, they will make a point of telling you that your 5 year warranty is now invalidated. Such a shame for what appears a reasonable product but with this type of after sales service why would you use this company, their sister company Hilary’s or any company associated with Hunter Douglas Limited. Seems they may have new owners as the CEO was appointed in December 2024. I wonder if the management know how their Customer Services treat their customers.

Process very smooth, pleased with end product

Two parts, 1] product and fitting excellent. 2] customer service abysmal. blinds out of 5 years warranty and a cord on a concertina blind broke on one window. I asked where I could get a replacement and how to mend it. absolutely no help from customer services. Agents Debbie,Sandra, Jodie, Dan, Charlie responded over 3 months alleging that a replacement cord would be sent. Nothing arrived so this sappears to be a prolonged 'fobbing off' (I should have read the reviews first)

Complete bodge, messed up in the survey meaning we were left with a frame that hangs across the doorway.. to be told by the fitter that ‘he’ll put some high vis tape on it and we can duck to get into the garage’ (photo attached)

Manager came and chopped the frame down.. 3 weeks later the whole garage door frame collapsed (fortunately noone was standing under it)

Turns out it had been anchored into plaster board. A couple of screws in plaster holding the massive weight of the door. Customer service team are no help at all.. Not even an apology from anyone thus far.

Avoid at all costs.

Spent £3000 on three remote controlled blinds. Now three weeks out of warranty and one has stopped working. I asked Thomas Sanderson to send out an engineer at MY COST. Response “we don’t support these blinds any more, we can’t help you”. What a bunch of cowboys!!!

Steve Hind was super helpful. Problem fixed in 15 minutes! Delighted. We will be proactively charging our blinds now to avoid the batteries going flat and losing connection!

When purchasing this product (shutters) at a very expensive price, I was informed by the sales person that if new windows were fitted within the guaranteed period, they would refit. Without this promise we would not have purchased these from them. 3 years and still within guaranteed period they deny this was ever a feature. People need to be aware of false promises made by this company.
