FAKE "The Denizen’s ultimate guide to the best places to get caviar in Auckland" is a poorly disguised advertising of a few Auckland's eateries
Unfortunately, such nicely illustrated media platform as The Denizen New Zealand, claiming to provide expert opinions and "ultimate guides" on a wide range of topics, misleads people on popular topics exploiting high public interest. Here is a fresh example: "The Denizen’s ultimate guide to the best places to get caviar in Auckland" published on 5 Dec 2025, author: Molly Codyre.
Being a practicing Expert-Caviarologist in Auckland, NZ, I thoroughly read this article, and my conclusion is that both the author and the editor have shown a very superficial approach to such interesting topic and exploited high public interest to Caviar to simply publish a poorly disguised advertising, promoting a handful of eateries in Auckland, passing it for the "Ultimate Guide".
In my, expert's opinion, an ultimate guide on anything, should provide a full picture of a topic (Sturgeon Caviar in Auckland currently available to the public). This article does not. The only true fact mentioned in this article is that Sturgeon Caviar is "wildly misunderstood", which is totally true about the article's author. The author evidently does not understand the difference between Sturgeon Caviar, salted roe of Salmon (Ikura) and Kina roe. Therefore, "The Denizen’s ultimate guide to the best places to get caviar in Auckland" is a poorly disguised advertising of a few Auckland's eateries. I see this a tool of dishonest competition for the benefit of a few venues in Auckland regardless of whether they actually provide quality Caviar and Caviar service .
