I needed champagne to celebrate an upcoming wedding. The items ordered were to toast the special occasion. It is exceptional champagne and I can't fault any part of the service.

Upcharge for late delivery?!
Ordered a bottle for next day delivery to a DPD collection point (Wed order for Thurs delivery). Received a message from DPD saying they couldn't deliver and subsequently the parcel was redirected back to The Champagne Company. Called Friday asking for the bottle to be delivered for Saturday, 2 days past the original delivery date only to be told I need to pay an extra fee for the Saturday delivery?! The delivery is already 2 days later than I paid for and you want me to pay more?! Any company worth their salt would waive the fee considering it is already late but apparently it's not their problem. Avoid.
Edit:
In response to the reply, I did not "request" a Saturday Premium delivery service, I simply requested prompt delivery given the order was already late.
The next day happened to fall on a Saturday (the day I need the order). Your offer to send the order next working day, which would have been Monday, is 4 days after the original delivery date.
The fact you are unwilling to waive the "premium delivery" to make up for the fact the order was late in the first place speaks volumes.

Thank you for your feedback. We have taken a look into this order and can see that DPD attempted to deliver your parcel to your requested pick-up location and delivery date after the shop opening hours. We have enquired with DPD as to why this was not reattempted at the shop the next day instead of being sent back to us and are currently waiting for a response.
After your call today, Customer Services offered to redispatch your order on a next-working-day delivery directly to your home however, you then requested the Saturday Premium service which requires a premium additional charge. We were happy to assist with this and offered to reduce this charge to a much lower standard delivery charge.
You decided this was not agreeable and have now cancelled the order and requested a refund.
We are sorry that this has not gone to plan and that we have been unable to satisfy your order request for free Saturday delivery, however, we are looking into the reason why DPD did not reattempt in the first place.

Good personal advice from a well informed human - rather than an AI chatbot! Timely delivery of my wine, well protected with massive amounts of packaging. Reasonably priced. Proof of the pudding is in the eating of course (or of the wine is in the drinking I guess) which has yet to happen.
