Terms - An awful company which dislikes its customers
Terma - This should be zero stars. Anyhow:
Bought a small bathroom electric towel radiator for our place in France, via a company called WarmRooms (highly recommended - please see my review of Warmrooms elsewhere).
We have had the house in France for 17 years and I have wired points and lights, repaired washing machines and dishwashers... I have a high level of competence with electrical wiring and cabling in the UK as well as France.
I mounted the heater as instructed, but it did not work out of the box. Brought it back to the UK and called Warmrooms. They sent me a Terma questionnaire (that's right - a questionnaire) required by the company. Took me 4 hours to gather the required info and sent it off with photos.
A week later called Terma. John, apparently their go-to-guy, explained that the warranty was void because:
In France (where I was installing the radiator) they do not have a three wire system, only two wire”. Yes. it is true they do have a two wire system - but for lighting, rated at 5 Amps; they also have a three wire system rated at 15 Amps. I wired it according to the three wire system. FYI - I have rewired several houses in the UK as well as the house in France. Every single piece of electrical equipment I have taken from the UK in the last 17 years of owning the French house and wired in or plugged in has worked - so why not their stuff? France is rated at 220-240 volts - the same as across Europe. Anything that works here works there.
This was utter nonsense – they wouldn’t even consider that I was right and that an admin guy might know less than me. Called Warmrooms and they said they would send a replacement element at their cost and from their stock – cost about £20. I have never come across a more convoluted, alienating, customer unfriendly returns policy in my life - and I’m getting on bit. (Maybe I should charge them an hourly rate for the time I ultimately wasted)
I recommend that anyone considering using the company do not. That level of incompetence is astounding. Someone who works with electronic products should be informed and helpful.
An awful company. Cannot say whether the products are are any good, as I haven’t got one as yet that works.
