Requires a New Chief
Let's start with the positive aspect. The ambiance - Romantic low light, lovely white linen tablecloths. The staff - attentive and pleasant. All appeared encouraging, especially when the two of us got to hear about their ‘Bring your own booze’ policy.
Now the minuses. The stuffing within the bench seat was rather thin, I felt like a midget when sitting at the table. The food - My friend ordered a mixed meat Madras - the Chichen part of it, which I sampled, wasn't as soft as one would expect, in fact his meal was nothing to get excited about (lamb not included).
I ordered a Lamb Tikka Biryani - Tough as old boots, sitting in soggy rice, I'm not one to make a fuss, so ate quite slowly as much of the rice as I dared before I mentioned the problem, to who I presumed was the head man, he probably noticed that I had a bit of sour look on my face and asked how things were, I gently shook my head in distaste, he then offered me a Lamb replacement with a softer texture, I was rather hesitant but accepted his offer, I was not able to finish it as my appetite had wained, but what I sampled was better than the previous, so why wasn't I given it in the first place?! Puzzling.
It's a shame, because what appeared to be the start of a good evening went rapidly down hill, on the eve of my Birthday to cap it all :-(
