The owner matija babic is a tax evader, the person who stole the singer's private work and got rich off of it. He fled from the Croatia because he owed money to loan sharks. A disgusting guy with a pit bull face.
Written by tasteless backpackers in Bali, so you know what the results are going to be like, i.e., biased towards food scene there + Indonesian food.
Love it, so useful and user friendly. I use it regularly on my travels! Keep up with good work 👍
I bought the European Iconic Dishes Map Poster on 25 January 2024 and did not receive it until 11 September 2025. Almost 20 months for an 8x10 poster. Insanity.
Information is very skewed and has downright no credibility.
List of "Best Gourmet Producers" and "Best Food" for my country contains a list of things I've never even heard of or seen on shelves in our country. They also consisted of just the same 5-7 brands but different items.
Clearly, they never meant to do due dilligence and just went with whoever they thought was "best"
In the world of global cuisine, accuracy, fairness, and cultural respect are essential pillars in evaluating and celebrating traditional dishes. Unfortunately, TasteAtlas — a platform that claims to rank and map the world’s best foods — has repeatedly demonstrated a lack of credibility and objectivity. Rather than serving as a reliable reference for food lovers, chefs, or culinary researchers, TasteAtlas has become synonymous with biased rankings, cultural misrepresentation, and selective favoritism.
One of the most glaring issues with TasteAtlas is its tendency to attribute iconic dishes to countries that have little to no historical connection with them. These claims are not backed by verifiable sources, culinary experts, or historical documentation. Instead, they often appear to be based on user votes or vague popular opinion — a deeply flawed methodology that opens the door for cultural appropriation and misinformation.
This selective bias serves certain nations at the expense of others, promoting a distorted image of culinary heritage. Many of the countries ranked at the top are overrepresented in the platform’s ratings, even when their cuisines do not have the global recognition or depth found in more diverse and historically rich culinary traditions. Ironically, the countries that receive exaggerated praise on TasteAtlas rarely appear in reputable global rankings curated by world-class chefs, Michelin star institutions, or prestigious culinary bodies such as The World’s 50 Best Restaurants.
What is most concerning is the misleading influence the platform has on the general public. Casual users may take these rankings at face value, unaware that the platform does not rely on expert panels, peer-reviewed research, or authentic culinary histories. The result is a skewed perception of global cuisine that diminishes the value of true culinary art.
If only it were possible to award 0 stars. TasteAtlas is an utterly worthless site based of a slanted cherry-picking of pronouncements from bribed critics. Its pernicious spread to those media of the world who are only looking for sensationalist headlines must be stopped.
Biased and fake. Bribery kills its credibility.
I saw their reviews and they do not make any sense at all
The worst food review website i ever seen!
Not a reliable website, their ranking is biased
Taste atlas, is a Croatian company who seems to believe they are using experts of gastronomy and cultures to rate “countries”.
The first thing is, it is really hard to rate gastronomy / culture as it is pretty subjective do I would argue that some cultures do not equal others, but the thing is, those so-called experts are professionals are never cited, the only ones who would be able to rate cuisine would be actual renowned chefs but then again it is subjective, a French chef will say it’s the best because he is French and there is some pride and bias in reviewing foods or wines cheeses etc. Though some chefs like Gordon Ramsay would say, for instance that Greek cuisine is better than Italian cuisine. I don’t think he’s biased, and he has cooked a lot of Italian food as well.
So I would assume that these “rankings” are basically based on popularity? But it is like asking people where they prefer to eat. Most people would say McDonald’s or Italian food because it’s more popular due to the American influence and has nothing to do with quality or actual truth (again pretty hard to determine on food).
So what are those drinking and how can we actually find a middle ground to determine : What is quality? I would say labels like AOC would be a good start, if we look at this then France would take the top of the list, but then it would be unfair to undermine Switzerland as a great country for cheese or The UK which has some hidden gems.
This site does not provide its sources and seems to be an attempt at attacking some countries or some cultures they prefer or despise, when you see that the US Is the 4th best gastronomy in the world in this ranking, above France, India, Japan,… It’s quite laughable
This is a company from convicted Croatian tax evasion criminal Matija Babic. He is also owner of propaganda driven website index.hr where he is receiving donations from "dodgy" people with agenda.
Just to place a reference so that it is not only my personal opinion:
Google this:
"Matiju Babića iz Indexa traže u Zagrebu zbog bankrota dok on skiće po Vijetnamu i EU"
"Pokretač Indexa Matija Babić, pravomoćno osuđen zbog utaje poreza – moralizira Zdravku Mamiću"
"Utajivač poreza i Index blate Direktno, portal koji je pisao o Lalovcu dok su drugi šutjeli"
I would be very cautious to have anything to do with him or his company!
