Kansas City pet owners should know that Missouri and Kansas have almost no regulations governing pet aftercare services, and there is generally no independent process available to verify the identity of cremated or aquamated remains. This place of business should be SHUT DOWN.
I purchased her highest-tier package, the Legacy Package, for approximately $600 because I believed the five-star reviews and the compassionate image she presents online.
Before leaving my beloved dog in her care, I made two very clear requests. First, if he could not be cremated within seven days, I wanted to be notified before the cremation took place. Second, I specifically wanted his full name and the spots on his nose included on the engraved urn. She agreed to both.
According to her website and our conversations, everything was supposed to be completed within two weeks.
Two week mark, I heard nothing.
When I reached out, she informed me that my dog had already been cremated on June 13. The one thing I specifically asked to be notified about had already happened without a single message, call, or update.
I remained patient and waited for the urn mock-up, it was clear it was rushed. It was missing my dog's full name and the spots on his nose--the very details I specifically paid for and discussed with her.
When I asked her about the lack of communication, she cried and told me she normally doesn't communicate updates throughout the process. She also told me she didn't understand my culture. This was never about culture. It was about honoring a simple request from a grieving pet owner.
She ultimately refunded approximately $400 of the roughly $600 I paid and kept the rest.
When I picked up my baby's remains, they were handed to me in a brown paper bag along with his tuxedo and his red rose that I had with him. There was no in person apology, no documentation and no discussion of offering what the fur clippings or any of the things she has probably discarded by now. When I asked for the aquamation paperwork, she told me she did not have to provide it.
When I finally had the courage to open the black velvet pouch containing my baby's ashes, I discovered they were inside two thin plastic dog waste bags. HORRIFIC!

I understand that new businesses make mistakes. But instead of making this professionally right. She cried and asked her friends and family to bulk up her reviews. It's pretty clear.
I chose this business because I wanted to support a newly established woman-owned company as well as the 5 stars. Instead, I learned why established providers have systems, procedures, documentation, and accountability in place. These 5 stars are false advertisement. She has had my reviews removed and crocodile tears to have her friends and family write these five star reviews. Read between the lines. To provide remains in doggy poop bags is who she really is behind closed doors.

Keep sakes are over priced and cheap quality. Exploitative of grieving families. I was quoted $35 for the fur keychain and an additional $35 to engrave. You’ll find this same keychain on Etsy for $8.75 fully engraved.
