The lodge was on a lovely, conveniently located site. Unfortunately we weren’t informed that next to our lodge would be construction vehicles, machinery and a lodge used by the workers to build/install new lodges. This ruined the view and tranquility which we guess would have otherwise been offered on this site. We feel this should have been mentioned before we booked a lodge with a hot tub. Hence not very private.
The lodge itself is like a caravan style layout. The bedrooms are small, especially the one with 2 singles which has hardly any room to move between the beds and would only be suitable for children really. Our child said the mattress was uncomfortable due to springs. The double bed we found also very uncomfortable. When we arrived the shower control was taped up with silver electrical tape. No note and no mention in our welcome email. We didn’t think this would be safe to use without speaking to someone. It was the third day of our four night stay when a gentleman came around and told us previous guests had pulled the shower and sink unit off the walls. He had glued these back on and the tape was to hold it secure whilst it dried. Although he was lovely and chatted to us about the area and things to do and showed us how to work the hot tub, which was great; we did feel that not being let know what had happened with regards this till the third day of our stay was unacceptable. The lodge looked tired and could do with a deep clean. There were stains and hairs on the pillows (I actually went to buy some from the nearest supermarket) and the microwave had dried on food inside. I gave the kitchen and appliances/utensils a good clean prior to use. It’s a shame as the lodges were just not cleaned to a high enough standard to say we couldn’t check in till 3 so it was ready for us. We made the best of our stay, enjoyed the hot tub on an evening when the builders weren’t there and we were out most days exploring Whitby, Scarborough, Robin Hoods Bay which were all in decent proximity to the site. The best thing about the lodges is most definitely the location!

I stayed here in April and although a lovely break, the lodge looked a bit tired and was missing glasses etc
Roll on July and the same lodge, cupboards bursting with all glasses etc you could need, new sofa new table, outdoor table was a welcome sight.
I was missing towels but within 10 mins of me enquiring I’d had 2 deliveries of extra towels. Beautiful location for a nice quiet break. I look forward to returning again

DO NOT use this company.
I have had a bad experience with them, they refused a refund and instead offered me a ‘gesture of goodwill’ in form of a replacement stay within 12 months.
Because I had posted an HONEST review, the goodwill gesture has been revoked. They took my money, provided HORRIFIC service and withdrawn an offer of a replacement due to me exposing them?!
I will now be contacting Trading Standards and perusing the complaint further.
Be careful IF you must use this company, they will take not accept fault for their mistakes.

They will move you resorts without telling you until the day before you are due to arrive, they will provide 4 different excuses as to why they have to move you. The hot tub was dirty, it had to be cleaned, the water wasn’t hot, the cabin was full of dead flies.

Customer service here is non existent

Amazing place to stay

We stayed in Applegrove holiday park. Our lodge was ok, however outdated. Also, we weren't notified about the works right outside our lodge. So our view for the weekend was a dug up field with 2 big machines. But the worst was a hot tube that wasn't checked before our arrival. One of the jet was broken and broken piece was on the bottom of the hot tube. My friend stood on it, slipped and cut her foot. There wasn't a first aid kit at the lodge, so we had to drive around village to find a pharmacy to buy antiseptic spray and plasters. Due to her injury she couldn't go back to the tub for the rest of our stay.
When I called site manager and asked her if she could come to the lodge, she said she's not on site but she will send someone over. Two maintenance workers came and one was actually very nice and apologetic. However, the other worker was rude and arrogant. He made comments about our nationality and basically called us liers as he didn't believe she could injured ber foot so badly with plastic jet. The other gentlemen apologised for him and said it's his colleague fault as he was meant to check the tub before we arrive and clearly he didn't. This put us off using the tub again. Knowing that the tub wasn't cleaned we didn't want to risk getting infection.
Due to my friend's injury, she wasn't able to go to work for a week and therefore lost her weekly wage. Therefore I emailed staycation team and requested a refund to partially cover her loss. I explained everything in details and expressed how disappointed about the lodge, view and tub we were and how disrespectful was the site maintenance to us. I asked for the refund and they offered us a 20% next visit and a bottle of prosecco! We will never book through them again.

Pros
Nice small site.
Good size lodge and bedrooms.
Nice to have 2 bathrooms.
Hot Tub was clean and a lovely temperature.
Nice to have a welcome pack.

Cons
Dishwasher not working, no communication about this prior to our visit.
Lodge needs a refurb, including repainting in the main area. Tiles were cracked in the bathroom and radiators were rusty.
Decking needs cleaning and re-staining as it was very green.
Some windows needed new glass.
Both Dining Table and Coffee Table need replacing or re-staining.
Unsure where to park - no designated parking space?
Frying pans need replacing.

Overall, this lodge could be really nice but it feels very unloved and needs some TLC to bring it back up to standard.

I stayed with my children. Various ages and we all had a brilliant time. So good in fact that I will be biking again!

The hot tub was amazing
The bed mattress was terrible I felt every spring on my body and tried all night not to move ,the couch at the table was to small for the height of the table and the two chairs In Front of the tv were low no cushioning and very uncomfortable .i would not stay In this place again. Unless they sorted the bed and chairs .the tvs were high up so constantly looking up instead of forward .the blinds on the bathroom fell off the wall when I tried to close them ,I enjoyed being away and enjoyed the hot tub ,very clean and extremely luxurious,but lots of other things made me happy to be going back home .

Just what we needed for a couple of nights . Lodge does need an update on some of the aspects and deffo need to think more about visitors with mobility issues especially when using the shower and not slipping . But loved the hot tub and overall a good experience 😊

We arrived and there were only 2 towels for 6 of us so I needed to request 4 more towels. Only 5 plates so had to request another plate, then we needed to request a baking tray, the man brought us a grill tray (which didn't fit)
The boiler kept turning itself off so they came to fix that. Whatever we asked they did do it but you start to feel like you are complaining and constantly asking for things after a few requests.

In the end we made do with 4 bowls between 6 of us, the bedding was torn. The lodge was dirty round the edges inside.
The decking moved (bounced) near the hot tub so I put a chair next to it as my sons foot went down with the board in the corner. We had to use our own plastic glasses we had taken as all of their glasses were cracked. The heating went off again on the last night but we still had hot water so just layered up as it was late on Saturday night. I had just had enough at this point so we got up the next morning and left.
We are usually happy and have a good time anywhere but this was a big let down for my mum's birthday present.

I wouldnt recommend going in a small car as it's down a tiny country road that is extremely long and awfully bumpy and miles from anywhere. Luckily we had a 4x4. We will definitely not be going back to the lodges Lincoln.

The management needs to put an inventory in place and check everything is there between guests.

Came away to celebrate with my partner for our anniversary, this place is beautiful with friendly staff, there is some issues that do need sorting to make it perfect but for what you pay is brilliant value for money. We stayed in lodge 38.

Positives:

- [ ] Greeted as soon as we got out of the car with a warm welcome.

- [ ] Lodge was clean and set up on arrival and is a very homey lodge.

- [ ] Hot tub was nice and clean and ready to go when we got there

- [ ] I was happy to discover there was a washer/dryer in the lodged which made me have some relief as our towels were still wet from the previous night. With having the issue with heating I worried they would never get dry.

- [ ] Beautiful scenery and although people moan about the road down me and my partner found it quite fun and found ourselves laughing the whole time! Definitely does need some more stopping spots as not every pot hole is filled yet but they’re getting there.

- [ ] Tea, coffee, sugar and milk sachets and a good amount, two dishwasher pods, some washing up liquid and new sponge.

- [ ] Staff are lovely the bar women, chef and the guy who does the hot tubs were welcoming ended up sitting in the pub from 8-10:30 pm having a lovely chat.

Negative points:

- [ ] There’s no mention of when reception is open and when leaving no one was in there so left our key with a note.

- [ ] Upon arrival was told our key would be in the door and the hot tub and heating was on the key wasn’t in the door but Gary quickly got it to us. It was still a little bit cold in the lodge but just assumed it was because the heating had just been turned on so would take a while.

- [ ] The hot tub isn’t completely private as you are exposed by the entrance to the lodge where people travel down to get to their lodges so would have to move your seating to make it private.

- [ ] after a dip in the hot tub we got out and noticed the radiator was freezing cold we didn’t think anything of it, I then went to shower, the shower was luke warm and took 5 minutes to heat up, it did a slow dribble. In the morning I sent Gary a message at 7 am letting him know the issue and asked if he had a heater instead, I didn’t receive a response until 8 after I had to contact the person I booked with and she rang him, Gary said he was on his way he didn’t arrive however he did send the onsite electrician over at 8:15 who stays in a lodge nearby and it turned out whoever did the hot tubs had filled the hot tub and chucked the hose over and didn’t turn the hose off so it was on all night, which was causing the radiator and water issues.

- [ ] The lodge was so cold during the night I woke up multiple times due to being freezing cold and avoided going to the toilet as the lounge was even colder, my feet actually hurt with how cold it was and that’s with socks on. This was just the first night and the first morning there
- [ ] One of the light switches was missing knob which is an easy cheap fix.

- [ ] The flooring could do with replacing as it not wood flooring and it has been ripped and stuck down again and is now having permanent marks in it.

- [ ] The remote in the double bedroom didn’t have any batteries in so I had to get the lounge areas remote and swap the batteries over, both TVs did need a restart to connect to the internet but after that worked fine, the bedroom tv is a little slow to response when using the remote. So if the tv doesn’t want to connect to the internet you just need to restart it and it’ll work.

- [ ] No microwave which would have been nice. As it does say a fully equipped kitchen. The oven didn’t work either.

- [ ] Says no smoking but there was cig ends where we parked and on the decking and some stones on the deck so could of done with sweeping not only that previous stayers had smashed a glass so there was shards of glass near the hot tub.

Things to improve: microwaves, make sure hose is turned off. Leave an updated menus for the pub. Have opening and close times for reception.

But all in all was a lovely stay and will be happy to return next year!
