Sport City Toyota -Warning
I have been a 20+ year customer with Sport City Toyota. My wife and I decided to go in to see about getting her a new (used) car. Went to check on one they had advertised on their website at $24,500.
After making an appointment and taking a test drive, we got down to negotiations. That’s when our sales person informed us. The price of the car would be $27,000 instead of the advertised price.
After questioning the increase in price with her, and being told it was the charge for the Toyota certification, I asked to speak to the used car sales manager. Someone named Jesus Alcala came to explain the difference and I was told they ALWAYS charge this extra $2500 charge for the Toyota certification??
When I explained to him, it said nothing about this on the ad or website, he told me this is what “all dealerships are doing nowadays, so we’re doing the same thing”. I told him that is false advertising, to advertise at one price, only to show up and find out it’s a lot more expensive?
He proceeded to tell me this is what they did on “ALL their cars”!
If this is how they treat someone who’s been buying cars, and having all their maintenance done with this company for 20+ years… just imagine how they’re going to treat you if you just happen to show up to try and buy a car??
So long, Sport City Toyota, you guys really are ridiculous to lose all my car sales, and maintenance business, over something as insignificant as this!
