I traveled from Maryland to Missouri
I traveled from Maryland to Missouri. Let that sink in.
I left my home state — my time, my money, my good faith — and crossed state lines based on an arrangement Spinnaker Resorts made and then had the audacity to silently unmake. They offered a discounted four-day resort upgrade in exchange for attending one of their sales presentations. I agreed. I traveled. I sat through their pitch. I honored every term of that agreement.
Spinnaker Resorts honored none of it.
My reservation had been canceled. Not delayed. Not rescheduled. Canceled — without a phone call, without an email, without so much as the basic professional courtesy of a warning. I found out the way you find out when a company has already decided you no longer matter to them.
And when I sought resolution? What I received was a masterclass in corporate stonewalling. Vague responses. Deflection. Practiced smiles wrapped around a complete and total unwillingness to make this right. They were not confused about what happened. They simply did not care.
This is not incompetence. Incompetence can be corrected. This is a business model — lure the guest in with an offer, extract the presentation attendance they actually wanted, and then quietly eliminate the obligation they never intended to fulfill. It is cynical. It is shameful. And it needs to be said plainly: it is fraud.
Let the record reflect what has followed:
— I have filed a formal dispute with my credit card company.
— I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.
— I am not finished.
I am a man who traveled in good faith from Maryland to Missouri and was met with deception at every turn. Spinnaker Resorts operates on the assumption that most people will absorb the loss, shake their heads, and move on.
I am not most people.
To anyone considering any package, any "exclusive offer," any "no-obligation presentation" from Spinnaker Resorts — know this: the only party with no obligations, in their minds, is them. You will be the one who traveled. You will be the one who paid. And you will be the one left standing there wondering what just happened.
Document everything. Record every call where your state permits. And save yourself the trip.
