Drew, since you chose to share this publicly, I think it’s fair to provide some additional context around the three months we worked together.
When we first connected, the business was already under significant pressure. Historically, the company had been heavily reliant on retail, and you were trying to make a much stronger push into direct-to-consumer. Before you hired us, we completed an audit at no cost and identified several areas across the account that needed to be rebuilt or improved. Those issues were also a major reason you decided to leave your previous agency and engage our team.
From the beginning, I was very transparent that rebuilding the foundation and improving performance would take time, and I specifically cautioned against putting unrealistic short-term pressure on the account while that work was being completed.
During roughly the first two months, we rebuilt and improved several areas of the business. Meta performance improved, email performance improved, and the overall direction was beginning to move positively. However, because the business was under financial pressure, the strategy and priorities began changing quickly, including shifting focus between customer acquisition, product categories, and generating additional revenue from the existing customer base.
I also want to address the criticism directly: we were not perfect.
When teams are moving quickly and priorities are changing rapidly, mistakes can happen. There were instances where things should have been caught before reaching you, and you should not have felt like you needed to proofread our work. That is something we take responsibility for, and I apologize that your experience did not meet the standard we expect from ourselves.
What I disagree with is the characterization that there was no strategy, no work performed, no reporting, or that everything we promised went undone. A significant amount of work was completed during the relationship, including rebuilding areas we inherited and implementing the strategy we had discussed. Emails were always responded to, including on weekends and after hours.
When you ultimately decided to end the relationship, we also chose to waive our contractual termination requirements and prorate a refund in good faith because, regardless of the circumstances, we understood you were unhappy with the experience.
I respect anyone’s right to leave a review, including a negative one. I simply believe anyone reading it should have the full context.
We will absolutely take the legitimate criticism from this relationship and use it to improve. At the same time, I stand behind the effort our team put into the account and the work that was completed during our short time together.
