I joined the RCN in college. They never told me they were a left wing protest group and would spend my money complaining about the government. If you try calling them, they don't answer. I wanted a Union who will answer employment issues and i got a political campaigning party. I'm going to have to phone ACAS since these people are too busy campaigning to see to their members needs.

After the recent pay review heralded as a triumph by the RCN , they failed to mention 1000s of temporary Staff employed by the NHS who will not get a payrise and will not get back pay.
Obviously the RCN blames the Govt but it was Pat Cullen of the RCN that agreed to that deal.
The RCN local reps are generally very good, but anything above that they are a waste of space.
Don't waste your money, they ain't gonna support you.
They call strikes while everyone in their Head Office in London gets paid.

I wish I could give them 0 stars but trust pilot don’t have that option. They behave like a set of pa k animals if challenged. Representing their paying customers I don’t think so. The knowledge that these are the best option nurse have is scary.
You pay your money monthly in the hope you will not need their support, but when you do they are nowhere to be seen, too busy alienating the general public by organising strikes.
No face to face appointments, the only option being a telephone appointment which was arranged in 5 days time and then cancelled with no explanation and no alternative offered.
Sadly this is not a one of scenario with members facing disciplinary hearings without support, too busy or indifference, it is not what members need.

Plainly a woman who hasn’t missed many meals, drunk on power, her ego dialled all the way up to 11, definitely off her meds and with a virtue-signalling agenda that is even more dangerously inflated than she is…..

….one could almost forget what this is all about, because it certainly doesn’t appear to be pay, working conditions or public health.

If RCN members don’t recognise this, then it is tragic that the sickness has spread so far and may no longer be treatable.

I put it to the RCN that the public no longer believe we have a viable NHS, that many hundreds of thousands have been dangerously, unfairly and carelessly let down by the Health service….. ………..and here the leadership of the RCN is grandstanding, posing for photographers and doing somersaults and victory laps while people are dying or having their lives shortened.

If nurses don’t care about the public, why should the public care about nurses?

The RCN haven’t understood the music has stopped and there’s nowhere to sit. You do NOT have public support and what little you do have is visibly ebbing away.

Awful union. I’m sure in the current pay dispute their motive is to increase union subscriptions. I needed help from them, which was completely inept. They dropped me like a hot potato when I handed in my resignation from my post. At that point I didn’t feel supported by them, and my rep was completely out of her depth. I challenge the RCN to respond despite their insistence that they will only look into cases within a stipulated period of time.

They are an awful union. Last time I had to use them was about a year ago. They were useless. I did it all myself in the end and won.
The best thing about joining is their library.
If you want representation for a work dispute, they usually side with the employer. They offer poor value for money and I don't ever bother using them anymore.
ACAS are far better and free.
Remember you can also always go through ACAS and apply to be heard at a tribunal. This normally gets employers jittery. I'm saving my union fee and put in a saving pot for when I need a bit of legal advice, then I use it on a good employment lawyer. This has served me well to date.
You good always take a university course in aw I suppose. A bit drastic, I know.

Nurses have lost around 20% pay since 2010. You went in to the negotiations with a starting figure of 19% and came out with 5%!! THIS PITTYFUL pay offer you took weeks to negotiate will not deter nurses from leaving the profession NOR will it encourage people into the profession!
I love the NHS but it is dying and you're doing nothing to help it!
I'll be voting against this "offer" then I'll be leaving the RCN. You've done over experienced nurses too many times. Pat Cullen you are almost as weak and pathetic in your negotiating abilities as this pay offer is to NHS nurses who have had enough of both you and the Tories!

Iv been a member of RCN since 2002, I cant fault them, they offer free face to face and online training.
Iv had a couple of employment issues over the years and the representatives know the answer without having to check which is very reassuring. Excellent legal team should the need arise, very professional and efficient. I highly recommend this union who are experts in the field of nursing.

I had a road traffic accident at M1 on 26- 01-2020 where a truck hit my car.it was a HIT AND RUN case. We were 3 passengers inside the car. We sustained injuries and the car was completely damaged and right-off. Following the accident I had to seek medical treatment.
I approached RCN LAW for my insurance and all the paper works were completed. Now it's been 1 YEAR AND 9 MONTHS.NO ACTION HAS BEEN TAKEN.
Several mails have been send but NOTHING HAPPENED UNTILL NOW.I am totally FRUSTRATED.
The other 2 passengers have already received their insurance claim 1 year back. It’s totally unacceptable. They are not able to provide appropriate reason regarding the delay. THEY HAVE A VERY POOR COMMUNICATION WITH THEIR CLIENTS. Now I feel there is no point continuing with RCN LAW. Terrible service. Thank you.

I would not recommend this union, I have had a very bad experience , I feel totally let down and financially abused as I have paid union dues faithfully for 20+ years . They have no conscience and are very unprofessional.

I've tried other unions and this one has the best Indemnity Insurance coverage! The communication and support are really good and I really enjoy going to their Congress!
