Awful company. I can’t believe this is even a legitimate insurance company. We never even needed to use their coverage and it was still the worst experience with an insurance provider our business has ever dealt with. Our audit came back with a President listed that we have absolutely no association with and didn’t know who it was. Then they keep sending us bills that aren’t accurate at all. We dispute the bills but that does t stop them from deducting the money and then sending the bills to collections. They literally owe us money for underexposure but they continue to try to collect these illegitimate bills. Absolute scam of a company.

I would rate ZERO stars if I could.
2 years after my audit they debited my account and didn't acknowledge my methods of contact until a month after my account was debited. Be aware - they keep your banking information and will randomly cash in on an audit they "forgot" about. I will be getting a new account number so these unethical wastes of time can't randomly charge me again just because they feel like it. Easy as pie...? HAH. They'll take your money easy as pie.

Awful company. Had insurance. Cancelled one auto. It was like pulling teeth to get my credit back. I will be using a new company come renewal time.

Terrible! We have several properties with policies. When we go to pay online, their system is so antiquated that it insists on only 1 account for email address, We are quickly changing to more user friendly companies.

I started this coverage through Paychex and it was terrible all the way through. Both companies played a MAJOR role is my poor experience and I wouldn't recommend either company, but this review is about PIE, so let me get started. I worked with an agent that I quite liked at Paychex. As it turns out, she was probably incompetent. It took a little while to get things going with PIE, eventually, I reached out to them and said when are you going to start charging me? To which they eventually responded (weeks later) that my payment would automatically start being pulled out with my payroll. The problem that NO ONE discussed was I was not a Paychex Payroll customer (despite asking my agent for more information about it from the beginning). SO, they never started coverage and then started to send me messages threatening to cancel my coverage. Mind you they never sent me a bill, not one time, and I asked for a bill to pay. So, I dug around on the cancellation notice and found the bill. It was 50% higher than I was quoted. I asked my agent and she said that PIE decided that if they were going to cover me, they wanted to increase the rates. Again, no one notified me of any of this and if they had my bank account info, they would have just started taking my money without ever getting approval. Now, I am one month into thinking I had workers comp coverage and I just have a much larger than anticipated bill. After reading other reviews, I have decided to just not pay the bill and let the coverage lapse. As they don't communicate with me, I am not going to communicate with them, just let it go. I am sure this will bite me later, but I feel like if I gave them any of my information, they would charge me to kingdom come. Search for another carrier before signing on with this lot. Not worth your energy.

I applied for workers comp insurance through my payroll software, they must have subcontracted it to pie insurrance.
Theybsent an audit notice after I cancelled the policy, I complied with the audit and paid the increased premium, although they never responded to any of my emails or calls asking for the reasons for the increase.
Since paying the bill, I have not stopped receiving additional invoices for the same bill I paid. It went to collection, and I still can't get a hold of anyone.
I got an email from Leviton Law firm saying they were handling the debt. I sent confirmation of my payment, just like I did to pie, they haven't replied, but did send a letter saying I haven't responded to their and pie's many attempts to resolve it.
I would be sure this was a scam, but both pie and Leviton Law ltd appear to be legitimate companies.
Wish I had a choice in choosing them, but if they become your insurer, make sure you run!!
I've been dealing with this for 6 months, I would definitely just pay it again if I thought they would stop harassing me and my business.

We had a genuinely frustrating experience with Pie Insurance over a workers' comp audit dispute that I want future small business owners to be aware of.

Our policy auto-renewed without clear consent, and when we tried to cancel it, the process was dragged out for two weeks by Pie's own requirements: they wouldn't process our cancellation request from a business partner because she wasn't a "listed contact," then required us to submit proof of replacement coverage and a signed cancellation form before they would proceed. Only after all of that did they finally confirm the cancellation.

Then came the real bait-and-switch: Pie tried to charge us $906 for that 17-day gap period, caused by their own delays, and justified it three separate ways over the course of one email thread. First it was framed as an additional annual premium. When we pushed back on the math, it became a "minimum premium" required regardless of how short the coverage period was. When we pushed back on that too, it suddenly became a short-rate cancellation penalty that supposedly can't be prorated at all. Three different explanations for the same charge, each one introduced only after we'd shown the previous one didn't hold up.

We offered in writing to return a refund check they'd already issued in exchange for dropping the remaining balance, and they refused. Be cautious with this company, especially around cancellations and audits — get everything in writing and expect inconsistent answers if you push back.

I paid my policy premium using a debit card, which does not carry a transaction fee. However, I was still hit with an unauthorized 3% credit card processing fee.
When I contacted customer support to get this billing error corrected and requested a refund, they refused to fix it. Very disappointing billing practices and poor customer service. Watch out for unexpected fees on your payments!

This insurance company is a fraud. I don’t know how they still have a license. They took my deposit and didn’t issue a policy for 3 months. Required another deposit to issue a policy after my agent finally reached someone in underwriting. Took another 3 months to process the refund. Then 3 months later submitted wrong information to the state and increased my experience Mod by 100%. Till now no response from them, customer service is clueless contracted service center in India. They cannot transfer you to a supervisor because there’s probably no one to answer any questions. Avoid this fraud at all costs or pay dearly for it.

This company is horrible avoid at all costs. They deducted thousands of dollars from my account due to am error. It has been over a year and I still do not have a check. You cannot contact anyone in the company. They have third-party representatives and they can only contact them internally. They have no power to get anything done or escalate or talk to a supervisor. AVIOD AT ALL COST!!!

This company is awful. I cancelled my policy a month ago and they are still charging me. It is impossible to speak to anyone and get any answers. This company was fine when I went to them 3 years ago . It is awful now and there is no way to speak to anyone. It is the worst experience ever NO NOT use them.

We had a workers comp policy through Pie Insurance that we cancelled effective 7/1/2026. Our payments for the policy were automatically charged to a credit card. For 2 months, they have been continuing to charge us. The only thing I get from customer service is that they are working on getting us a refund.
That is one thing, but I can't understand why they will not shut off our automatic payments.

Horrible. Audits are never completed, overbilled and unauthorized charges to my credit card. Run don’t walk away from pie. Undeniably some of the worst service you could receive. Hated paying into workman’s comp as a business owner, hated pie insurance even more!

If I could give this 0 stars I would. This company is so crooked I don't understand how they are in business. I never had a single claim but they stole money from our bank accounts during an active workers compensation premium audit dispute. They claimed our payroll was twice as high as the numbers I sent and then stole our money. It has been 12 months and they have consistently made up new excuses and technicalities why they can't refund my $15,000 dollars that they illegally withdrew. You can't even talk to anyone with any decision making power when you call them. Zero support. Steals your money. Do yourself a favor and find a different insurerer.

Obtained workers comp for our small non-profit children's choir. They cancelled after two months claiming I misrepresented our business because every few years we go on tour. We use a licensed, bonded and insured travel company that specializes in music tours for choirs, bands & orchestras. We have travel insurance as well as the liability insurance. Our choristers are NOT employees. But they think our risk is too high. I've been in business since 1995 and have never made an insurance claim for anything for this non-profit. This is just insane.

Got them for workers' comp, however, the audit process is an absolute nightmare. They're not giving me any direction or helping me whatsoever. Now they're threatening me, saying if I don't get it done by July 30th, then I'm going to be non-compliant.

Worst ever. Very unorganized company. Audits were a nightmare. I would submit all requested paperwork, and they would loose it every time. Then they would deduct money from my checking account via ACH, even when I requested in writing not to do so. Then you file appeal. Sometimes you would get your money back, other times you wouldn't. Even after a cancelled they continued to deduct money out of my checking account.

Total scam classic bate and switch, they charge a reasonable fee up front but then “audit “ you and charge 10x . Dont fall for them customer service is out sourced amd just follow a script. worst experience i have ever had. AVOID!!!

During my premium audit, I was disputing said audit because they misclassified me (Owner) as an installer which carried a higher per dollar insurance cost. They charged me the $965 overage during the dispute which is incredibly improper. After realizing they owed me money (plus the $965 they charged me), they said they would apply it as a credit for my current policy. I don't want that, I want Pie Insurance to write me a check for the money I paid over, plus the money you stole from me during the audit dispute. They claim it's not possible. Well, they lost a customer and I would advise anyone to go with another agency. I will also be filing with the Florida Department of Financial Services Division of Consumer Services about this matter.

My husband got injured on the job in August of last year and reported his injury in a timely manner. Paper work after paper work has been submitted from everyone involved since day 1 and til this day he hasn't gotten a dime back for his lost wages. It's going to be almost a year next month and we had to get a lawyer involved. This company will take your money monthly for premium, but will NOT pay your workers when needed. AVOID AT ALL COST.
