I booked in to do the beginner course with Paul in the hope I would get a clearer understanding of the basics of photography and build on the research I’d already been doing. From the booking process of the course to leaving at the end I’m very glad I came across him as it was money well spent.
His approach to teaching, for me, definitely made me feel relaxed and confident in myself that I was capable and smarter than my camera.
I was able to leave feeling confident I had a clear understanding of everything we had covered and I can also look back over the images we took during the course and see a real difference between those that were taken weeks ago and those at the end of course which I had confidently taken in manual mode.
I’d be happy to recommend Paul to anyone looking to either start or progress in photography.

Snowdonia landscape photography course. Paul David Smith is an outstanding teacher. We were of such different abilities, and yet he managed to ensure that we all learnt so much, whether it was about composition, lenses, filters or setting it up to adjust later. He catered to all our needs, and took us to the best locations in Snowdonia for perfect pictures. Would be hard pushed to find such an enthusiastic and knowledgable coach.

I had a wedding photography workshop yesterday with Paul and found it absolutely brilliant and informative. Paul arranged the whole day to look like a real wedding, we had a bride and groom model and went to a hotel for prep shots, a church for the ceremony and final the beautiful grounds of Thorpe all for those all important portraits. As well as getting some incredible pictures he also taught me how to use manual mode and I will never go back to auto again! Paul was always on hand to answer any questions I may have but left it up to me to get the shots I wanted!
The whole day was totally with the money :)

I love taking photographs but for my 60th birthday party I wanted to entrust this important task to a professional. Paul didn't disappoint. His communication with me before the event was clear and prompt. He arrived at the venue with plenty of time to set up and catch the first guests to arrive. I loved the way he moved unobtrusively around the room capturing precious moments from a very special birthday. I had the finished photographs within 3 days of the party and am thrilled with the results. They are amazing and a lovely reminder of a fabulous evening. I have no hesitation in recommending Paul for any of your events.

I thoroughly enjoyed the Beginner's Photography Masterclass with Paul! He's a great photographer, really nice person and excellent teacher. Entering the course with almost zero photography knowledge, Paul had me in manual mode in no time! He made everything fun and easy to understand, with a great balance of theory and practical exercises. What's more, he really took the time to understand what type of photography I was interested in and tailored the content around this. I couldn't recommend Paul and this course enough, and I can't wait to start putting my new knowledge into action!

I attended the Introduction to Studio Lighting Course and spent a great day learning the fundamentals of studio photography. Paul put together a comprehensive course full of advice and tips, as well as giving attention to the craft of taking excellent photographs. It was good fun and photographing the model in the afternoon proved a great way to learn. Practical, informative and enjoyable, all thanks to you Paul and I look forward to doing another one!

Paul is very down-to-earth with lots of practical tips & advice that can apply in real-world situations. He really helps to demystify & simplify the world of softboxes, umbrellas, beauty dishes etc!

I've just attended Paul's workshop intro to lighting. Although I'm not a novice I wanted to get some sound advice before purchasing any equipment.

Paul's style is relaxed but highly educational, going into all you need to know without overcomplicating things. His explanations were clear and logical.

The photoshoot we did in the afternoon was excellent. Putting theory into practice made the day for me. Thoroughly recommended.

Just back from a weekend Landscaping photography course in Snowdonia. Brilliant, Learnt a lot with Paul's calm but enthusiastic
style. He had obviously researched the locations and is very knowledgable with the subject matter, All three of us of varying levels of photographic experience became more familiar with our cameras and learnt new techniques and styles. Thank you Paul- hope to be able to attend at a different location.

As someone who relies on great photography for crucial parts of business I thought it was important to up-skill myself and understand more about the exciting world of photography.

Paul delivers an honest, relaxed and engaging learning experience.
The day flew by and was thoroughly enjoyable.

Myself and 2 of my colleagues attended a day training course with Paul to understand more about the fundamentals of photography to develop our skills for product photography. The day was well planned and Paul ensured he had a good understanding of exactly what we wanted to get from the day from the very beginning.

He explained every stage in an easy to understand manner, which really allowed us all to understand how to get the most out of our camera. Paul was excellent throughout the day, and had us all shooting in manual extremely quickly. The skills we learnt were invaluable, and as product photography is such a major part of our work, this is most certainly going to benefit us from here on.

We cannot recommend Paul enough, whatever level you are at, Paul is professional throughout and made this day thoroughly enjoyable.

Had a great day last week with a one on one training session with Paul. I recently bought a new camera and wanted a refresher day learning what it can do. Paul had me shooting in manual mode with confidence so quickly, I was amazed! I have now booked a weekend trip in April and couldn't recommend him highly enough! He took the time to tailor the day for me and even researched my camera so he knew what I needed! Just superb.

I recently took the Full Day photography course offered by Paul. He sent me clear communication regarding the course content & asked what I wanted to get out of the day.
