Time to spare - gp ahead and call them
If you don't mind waiting for at least 30 minutes listening to sounds which the Chinese would consider a torture then make your call. Usual rubbish "we are experiencing higher than normal number of calls" breaks into the muzak. If this is the standard before tratment one has to question are those who operate on work experience

worst ever customer service
Just had the worst ever customer service experience of my life.
Whenever I call there's 25-30 minutes queue to speak to someone. Then the staff are not knowledgeable, rude and confrontational. I explained that I wished to make a complaint not personally about her, but about Optegra and she refused to pass on the details of how I make a complaint. Eventually, She offered to give me an email address. When I answered yes please she hung up on me. I found the email address on their website but received no confirmation of receipt or timeline for a response.
Do not recommend undergoing the procedure if the defect is relatively small, as the risk is very high.
The laser procedure was performed at Optegra in Poland, at their facility in Kraków. As a result of the procedure on my right eye, my near vision has improved; however, my distance and intermediate vision have worsened. I have not achieved independence from glasses—quite the opposite: instead of one pair, I now need two.
Optegra stated that this is due to factors such as age and the decompensation of hyperopia. However, I believe that such circumstances should have been taken into account at the planning stage of the procedure, rather than relying on the assumption that the situation might improve on its own.
I was also informed that the symptoms I reported are due to the “mechanisms and limitations of the monovision strategy and individual intolerance to this method.” In short, Optegra explains this by saying that the method is essentially “hit and miss,” acknowledging that it sometimes does not work.
The proposed enhancement would come at the expense of distance vision, and I would still need to wear glasses—this time for distance. I do not recommend undergoing the procedure if the defect is relatively small, as the risk is very high.
awful support ,system online system…
awful support ,system online system doesnt work and waited 56 mins to get through to talk to a human questionaire crashes and they keep sending me letters telling me they need to contact me !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Terrible service
I contacted Optegra early November and got a virtual assistant and answered all their questions. When they asked me for a date they couldn’t accommodate me. After giving five dates they said they would contact me. I am still waiting!!
I am writing this review 2 yrs post op
I am writing this review 2 yrs post op. So I’ve given everything time to settle down I had lens replacement done in Dec2023 I still need to wear glasses.i was told I wouldn’t need glasses.Bur if you read paperwork pre op it says 97%. Don’t need glasses post opp After having op I wasn’t happy with the vision I had it wasn’t as sharp as wearing glasses which I had worn for nearly sixty years.I went back to the hospital in London ,and after some more tests I was told I needed laser surgery This was to correct the vision.I had this done it didn’t make much of a difference So I went to see an independent optician who told me I need prescription glasses. Talking to other recipients of lens replacement they say if you had astigmatism it seems to not work very well You may ask if I new then what I know now would I have lens replacement the answer is no
I had a Cataract operation with Optegra…
I had a Cataract operation with Optegra on 25th April 2024. On the 3rd May I was told I would have 20/20 vision.
On 7th June 2024 I was told both my Corneas had been damaged by the toxicity of the eye drops I had been given by Optegra. This information was given to me quietly by an optician whilst I was at reception. I then began an intense regime of eye drops to rectify the damage.
I was also told I had Dry Eye , something I have never had before. This meant more eye drops.
Soon after the operation my family noticed the skin below my right eye was drooping. One of my surgeons responded immediately and said it would be nothing to do with the operation.
However, a few appointments later I was told the surgeon had a difficult time getting my lens out.
I got a second opinion by an independent optician and was told by them they had seen this damage before. When I brought up this damage at a later appointment the surgeon said I should go and get plastic surgery.
On 21st August I was told my Retina was swollen in the middle with cysts and pockets. The surgeon said it could be historic.
Again I had a second opinion and was told that this would not be the case. I had been tested on 23/10/23, and there was no record of
having had any retinal damage .
In all I had 16 appointments with Optegra at a cost of just under £8000.My eyesight now is worse than when I had Cataracts. At night time now, my eyes become full of fluid that I then have to clean away.
I absolutely do not recommend this company, stay away!.

OPtegra Maidstone
OPtegra Maidstone. Nothing but problems here. Inexperienced person tested my eyes, the phone lines were either dead or no one answered. The Liaison person was doing a managers job under pressure and to cap it all they got my scans mixed up with some else's so recalled me to have new scans. Enough is enough so I walked away.
My two cataract operations.
My two operations were carried out promptly and with care and attention. The operatives could not have been more helpful.
Right eye cataract surgery in April…
Right eye cataract surgery in April 2025 then left eye 2 weeks later.
Before cataract surgery I was short sighted and now I’m long sighted, which was rather a shock. At no point from start to finish was I told I would be long sighted after the surgery.Absolutely no Communication from the surgeon when I asked for an appointment he didn’t turn up I was sent away, told to make another appointment. The optometrist at the Colindale branch was extremely rude to me and my husband.
Im so upset didn’t imagine it would be like this can’t see a thing without my glasses now maybe because i was an NHS patient I was treated like this.
Speedy appointments and excellent
Speedy appointments and excellent, friendly and efficient staff.
I am so pleased with Optegra both…
I am so pleased with Optegra both myself and my wife have had both eyes treated by Optegra , I cannot praise their service and high level of care we both had at the greengates Bradford branch.
I would not hesitate to reccomended using them we were treated as NHS patients
Appointment was 1.40
Appointment was 1.40. Told to be here 15 min early. It is now 3pm. Still waiting with my sister. No explanation. Gateshead Team Valley clinic.
I had multifocal lens replacement…
I had multifocal lens replacement surgery and there was zero follow up after week 1.
After many months of sight deterioration I made an appointment to query my issues. I was told on arrival that I could go back home or stay for a minimised appointment time. I had traveled into London from Kent!
It appears that I need laser to rectify post operative issues.... I had an appointment booked to test my eyes, to see if the laser was finally an option. I'm struggling and I am desperate at this time.
Only 24 hours to this appointment it is cancelled. I have booked and paid my train ticket. I was so desperate to have this appointment - things are really wrong!
I cannot recommend this service, once they have your payment they don't care.
Make sure anaesthetic is working.
I Had cataract surgery at Optegra Manchester on the 14th May as a NHS patient. I was aware of every poke and cut made. The anaesthetic drops I had a hour before surgery did not deaden the eye at all. I was also told I would have a post op check two week later. It is now ten weeks and I have heard nothing. Sadly I feel I could not return for the second operation as it was very painful and traumatic.
Clear and colourful vision after two weeks
Less than two weeks ago I had a cataract removed from my left eye. I can now see everything much brighter and more colourful than I thought possible. I can even watch my television without my prescription glasses, and I’ve still got my right eye to do. Can’t wait but I know I must be patient. The reception staff are helpful and kind as well as are the nurses who guide you through every stage. Also not forgetting the surgeon who patiently replaced my lens. In short I cannot praise them highly enough. This was the Optegra eye hospital in Kings Hill, Maidstone.
Excellent service
Excellent service, staff very professional. Both cataract operations very good.
I had cataract romoved both eyes under…
I had cataract romoved both eyes under the NHS at Optegra, Over all services are OK. The hospital is nice and clean with nice coffee machine for their customers. The service is quick. The only one thing is the follow up after surgery was refer back to the optician so you will never be seen by the eye doctor.
