Whilst on holiday over the Easter break, our dog Milo developed Bloat. We called Oakhill Vets as they were listed as 24 hour emergency care and this was around 8.30pm. They asked us to bring him down straight away which we did. He was seen immediately and all of the staff were amazing. He needed an emergency op to untwist his stomach and he also had to have his spleen removed. The vets kept us up to date with phone calls into the early hours of the morning. The following day Milo had some internal bleeding and again was in a very serious condition & desperately needed a bloody transfusion. The Practise Manager brought in her own dog to donate blood that was then given to Milo. We were able to come in to visit Milo out of hours and sit with him for a while whilst he was having his transfusion. It was very touch and go at various points and a truly scary few days & Oakhill Vets went above and beyond to save his life and for that we will be forever grateful. We are back home now and Milo is doing really well, back to his normal happy self. Would highly recommend Oakhill as a vets and cannot thank them enough for all they did for Milo!

Our daughters dog was injured while staying with us, we got an appointment to see the vet Kathryn at Ambleside on the same day, she was brilliant, very thorough and reassuring, meds prescribed and a follow up appt plus some physiotherapy with Leanne at the Arc Windermere branch, the whole experience was extremely professional, reassuring and all staff members were lovely. Really impressed with this Practice.

This hospital needs to modernise its procedures. All members of the team, including RVNs, VCAs, and reception staff, should be fully aware of the legal requirements governing veterinary practice. Compliance with GDPR and RCVS guidelines is essential to operate legally and uphold professional standards. AVOID, go to Gillivers Vets.

I recently lost my dog Monica and all at Oakhill were amazing, so understanding and thoughtful. Special thanks to Jade and Lizzy who helped me when I was very upset. Two little angels.

i visited Oakhill vet's today with Paige for her booster the kind friendly welcome i received was excellent from reception to seeing Claire the vet i would highly recommend this practice JR in Windermere

1st class service throughout. My pony Ruben was referred to oakhill for treatment on his eye for posterior uveitis and needed to stay in after the treatment for a few days for monitoring. Ruben doing fantastic after his treatment. Oakhill vets including Leoni and the vet nurses were absolutely fantastic. Caring, empathetic, great communication and updates from Leoni throughout, and I honestly felt like they looked after Ruben the same as if he were their own pony. Thankyou for everything you've done. Much appreciated by me and of course Ruben xx

Initially they were brilliant. However my elderly cat became unwell on well over the weekend. I phoned for advice, the receptionist at the Lytham Rd branch was vague, and said she would ask the vet. Bearing in mind the weeks previous we had spent a fortune!

I went there an hour later due to my cat deteriorating, she said she had only just sent it to the vet. She couldn’t possibly get off her chair and walk behind the counter to ask!!
I then managed to get medication from the pharmacy, cat still no better. Phoned once again, still wasn’t prepared to see her nor give any advice.

Took her to another vet, then I get a phone call from Oakhill asking if it’s ok to send the history over, I explained the issue to be told ‘I could’ve got her in’ Mmmm but you didn’t want to know this morning!!!

All about money rather than caring for animals!

Staff are wonderful. Efficient and caring. There are separate areas for dogs and cats and a comfortable waiting area.

Our dog needed to see a vet as an emergency and we were on holiday. We rang our vet who advised to Google the nearest vet and we rang them. They asked us to go immediately and we did. We were welcomed by the staff, who were expecting us. Very quickly a lovely female vet (sorry, I didn’t catch her name), came out to us and took a brief history. She explained what she would do in clear terms. Fortunately the treatment required worked. We couldn’t recommend them highly enough.

Had to have my 17y cat put to sleep today. Obviously a very distressing experience. The staff at Oakhill Kirkham were brilliant. So gentle and caring, I couldn't have wished for better service and support.
My Keeta has now gone to a better place, but the care and gentleness she received was amazing

Been with Oakhill Vets since around 1999, lovely black domestic short haired cat, alas she is no longer with us, but we got a very special Pandemic Pug in 2020 and how fortunate we are to have Oakhill Vets care for her, a fantastic veterinary practice. And we have great insurance cover with Animal Friends. Both highly recommended.

While away on holiday in Bowness and needing a local vet , I called Oakhill on lake road at 9am and got an appointment for 10.10am the same day .
Amazing service from the receptionists and Alex the vet went above and beyond to put my mind as ease by explaining my dogs condition and the process needed .

Just simply amazing - would give 10 starts if I could.
From the amazing facility, professional and friendly reception staff, through to the amazing, caring and knowledgeable Vets available I cannot recommend Oakhill Vets enough. Post op after care was top class, telephone calls to make sure my dog was doing well after his castration then in a time of a medical emergency, he was in, investigated and operated on within hours and I can not thank you all and recommend you enough..... You Guys Rock!

Staff are kind and knowledgeable. Have been using the Preston branch for some time now and very happy with the care received for my pets.

Visited the Goosnargh practice just before christmas to see Reptile vet Andrew as i was concerned about my bearded dragon. All the nurses,receptionists were so kind,helpful. Could not have had better treatment. On arrival a lovely nurse placed Spike into a viv to warm up as he was cold,i spoke to Andrew who took his time to ask me questions and listen to me. Andrew was very knowledgeable . When we were ready to leave,one of the nurses put some hot hands into Spike's carry case so he did'nt get cold on the way home,they also spent quite a bit of time phoning around for a taxi for me. A brilliant vets,lovely staff,a dedicated team that genuinely cares for their animals. Would not go anywhere else.

Very disappointed in the service and sympathy towards my pet at Oakhill Vets in Goosnargh.

I recently discovered that my pet was unwell. On my first appointment the vet did not seem particularly interested after guessing he had kidney tumors, and it was only when I suggested an ultrasound did he say we can do one if I wanted too. I will note here that my pet was a Syrian hamster (2.5 years old) but no matter what the size/ age of pet every avenue should be explored. His attitude was as if it was only a hamster.

I returned for the ultrasound a week later and he discovered it was tumors so I made the very sad decision to have him put to sleep. It was a very difficult decision for me so I asked if I could have 5-10 mins to make a decision which he agreed to and remarked that he was not sure if he'd be necessarily free when I rang. I went back to the car and then later on got a call from the vets asking if i'd made the decision. I realise that he had other patients but I had waited 20 plus mins for each of my appointments so why should I be rushed. On the first appointment he kept saying I've only really got 10 mins per patient. That's not my problem when I have turned up on time for an appointment and then been kept waiting.

The thing that really upset me the most is when I had him put to sleep, the receptionist called me and said I've got your hamster here to collect. I went in upset to just find him in his case on reception. How is that dignified? He should have been handed back to me by the vet not just put on reception with all the paperwork. The vet did not even have the decency to tell me how it went as he had gone in with another patient. Would that happen with a dog or cat?

I thought this was disgusting. I'm came to this vets as it specialised in exotics but I seriously which I hadn't. No matter how small the pet they should be treated equally and with dignity. This vets has shown itself to be unprofessional and not compassionate at all.

I have been to this vets - Oakhill veterinary centre (Goosnargh branch) a few times and every time the receptionist,nurses and vets have been very pleasant, helpful and are excellent with my pets, the vets also listen to what you have to say without dismissing it and take time to properly look at your pet and you don't feel rushed, just a pity I can't give more than 5 stars, highly recommended
