NoRedInk is honestly one of the most frustrating school websites I’ve ever had to use. At first it seems like it might help with grammar, but after a while it just feels repetitive and annoying. The questions are almost always the same thing over and over, just slightly changed, and it gets really boring really fast. Instead of actually teaching you why something is wrong in a clear way, it just marks it incorrect and makes you try again without much helpful explanation.
Another problem is how picky it is. Sometimes you’ll type an answer that is basically correct, but because it’s not in the exact format they want, it marks it wrong. That gets super irritating, especially when you know the material but lose points over tiny technical details. The way it forces you to keep answering until you hit a certain score can also feel stressful instead of helpful.
The stories and examples are supposed to be funny or interesting, but a lot of the time they just feel random and distracting. It doesn’t really feel connected to real writing that you would actually do in school. Instead of helping me become a better writer, it mostly feels like I’m just trying to beat a system.
Overall, NoRedInk feels more like busy work than actual learning. It takes a long time, can be repetitive, and doesn’t always explain mistakes clearly. I get that it’s meant to improve grammar skills, but there are definitely better and more engaging ways to learn writing than spending hours clicking through the same types of questions.

I love how how the context is about your fav movies, but it should ask "Are u sure?" when you click submit if u don't highlight or change anything so you don't accidentally do that and mess up your score.

I hate noredink, it literally makes you do double the questions when you get it wrong. I’m working on the citations, quotations, and formatting one right now and I’m about to throw my laptop out the window. TEACHERS PLEASE DO NOT TORTURE YOUR STUDENTS WITH THIS. THEY WILL START TO HAVE TO WILL TO NOT LIVE ANYMORE!!!!! I’m on my 72 question, not even 3 stars done.

its fine because of the fun stuff like the interests thing. but other than that its bad. it is better than IXL though

Noredink is so bad it literally ragebaits you like when I was doing instead of telling me what I did wrong it writes a literal essay NoRedInk sounds like the one English class tool that promises no red ink but still somehow finds a way to mark up your soul.

It’s the only place where you answer 20 questions about commas and suddenly the site decides your personality is “likes pizza and secretly owns three llamas.”

The grammar questions be like: “Choose the correct sentence.”
Meanwhile the options look identical except one comma moved 0.3 millimeters to the left.

And when you get something wrong, it doesn’t just say wrong—it gives you a paragraph-long explanation that somehow makes you feel like you personally betrayed the entire English language.

Also, the progress bar? It moves slower than a Windows update from 2007.

But hey… at least there’s no red ink, just emotional damage. 💀

It’s almost as bad as IXL not encouraging anything, which is pretty depressing and boring. I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone to do on their free time.

Quite literally the WORST English tool to ever exist. It does absolutely NOTHING but waste students' time and doesn't even actually help them try to understand the material. The hints are unhelpful and are just a repeat of the lesson and the site forces students to answer three extra questions in a row correctly every single time they make a small mistake or get an answer wrong, and they don't even contribute to the final score at ALL. A single assignment on NoRedInk can take literal hours or even days to complete to the point it makes kids stay up well past their bedtime, which is outright dangerous to their health. And if kids complete one of these, there is no incentive or reward that makes all of those hours doing these assignments worth it; it's just a "Congrats!" with you then being booted back to your home screen. And if that wasn't bad enough, this site mocks and also makes fun of kids being stuck on lessons for too long by basically delivering them a back-handed 'compliment' saying "We've already informed your teacher of the great effort you're putting in". And all of this nonsense with this site puts a lot of unhealthy stress and anxiety on our children that they absolutely do NOT need or deserve; and it is stress and anxiety that can actually negatively affect their health later on when they are an adult, or cause our children to get extreme cases of depression. And guess what? All these assignments actually do is make students want to rush through the assignments, which does not do ANYTHING to help them. Kids would rather finish these NoRedInk assignments quickly rather than take their time to look at each question and answer thoroughly. And who can blame them with the brutal and unforgiving sanction system for incorrect answers and the archaic nature of the site in general? And despite there being no fun factors like on Study Island, they try to make the site seem 'fun' by allowing you to pick some 'interests' which will be included in the questions, such as video game, TV, or movie characters, which I think is not only not fun, but also incredibly cringe. I had to use this godawful website in my ELA class in high school and I got PTSD from the cruel and harsh nature of the site in how it supposedly 'teaches' you proper English. It is just cruel, unfair, and downright disrespectful with the way it mocks you for not getting it. And the worst part of all is that this site just causes bad student behavior. It just breaks and emotionally tears students apart in rage and frustration, sometimes to the point they'll break school equipment or even their own personal devices. I have read stories about people breaking devices here on Reddit; it's absolutely horrible and I feel for all of the people who have reacted with device destruction because of the site being so harsh with how it teaches ELA. Calling this website trash would be an insult to garbage. This is just as bad, if not worse, than IXL. And that is absolutely saying something. I hate this website with every fiber of my being and I would even consider this a torture device and downright emotional abuse. Stay clear away from this, and if you already use this in your ELA class, remove it from your curriculum immediately. This is simply the worst tool for ELA to ever exist. Point blank.

No red ink might be officially the worst learning site to exist. all it does is frustrate and anger students while at the same time teaching them absolutely NOTHING. the hints are just a repeat of the lesson, all does is tell you you're wrong and makes you attempt again with no help, no hint, nothing. and the whole you get one wrong and have to answer two more that don't count towards the score? makes sure students see no progress at all. possibly the worst learning app ever made or designed, whoever made it could possible take the crown for the stupidest person ever. I didn't even know such a bad idea fro a learning app could be made.

As a student that uses no red ink. I have had a horrible experiance useing this website. This website is terrible and it teaches me absaloutaly nothing. This website has many flaws and its so bad that it makes me want to throw my chair at Jeff Scheur. This is so bad i rather would eat a bottle of radium than do another assignment. I hate this website with my whole heart and Jeff Scheur I hope your reading this. Your the biggest bum ive ever heard and I hope you like making children misrrable. You should put work into a webstite for kids thats enjoyable instead of depressing.

It’s maddening—so painfully repetitive and oppressive, like some twisted torture device teachers use to crush any hope left in children.
