Preparation For the best results always thoroughly prepare the surface. Ensure the surfaces to be painted are clean dry and free from dust, dirt, grease and wax.
Remove all loose and defective paint to leave a smooth and sound surface. Glossy surfaces should be lightly abraded to provide a key.
All algae, fungal or mould growths should be completely removed and treated with a fungicidal wash.
Pressure-treated timber should be weathered for at least six months prior to painting.
Weathered wood should be abraded to reveal new cells and allow maximum penetration.
New planed, finished wood or PSE wood should also be abraded to open the grain and allow maximum penetration.
Allow new creosote three months to weather.
Application We always recommend testing a small inconspicuous area to ensure you are happy with the finished results.
Stir well and do not apply when temperatures are below 8°C or when rain is likely for outdoor applications.
Apply using a brush, roller, conventional H.V.L.P or airless spray. Please note coverage will be reduced to 6-8m² per litre when applied with a sprayer
On untreated weathered wood, new wood, cement, render, plaster, brickwork, or any porous substrate the first coat should be thinned with 30% clean water.
In some cases you may need a second coat to completely block the stain, we recommend leaving four hours between each coat.
Aftercare & Storage Ensure to clean the rim of the paint tin and firmly replace the lid before storing in a cool , dry area that will protect the paint from low temperatures. Do not store in a shed or by hanging on a hook.

I used Bedec stain block paint 2 coats under Bedec Barn paint on a Shepherd's Hut which I was building. The paint was easy to apply and with 2 coats as recommended covered all of the knots in the boarding I used. Obviously I cannot say if the knots will stain through the topcoat eventually but so far there is no sign of this in the 8 months since applying.Having used the stain block on the exterior, I am now painting the interior of the hut and have chosen the same for this, hopefully following the manufacturer's instructions will result in a trouble free, long lasting paint finish.
