I 100% recommend My Probate Partner. I chose them after trawling through many websites and footnotes about how to do Probate/Confirmation myself, reports of the Scottish system routinely rejecting applications without explanation, and solicitors charging a fortune to do the same work. My Probate Partner got my application approved first time -- from the start they were incredibly easy to deal with, the initial online form to complete was completely user-friendly and straightforward; subsequent communications were brilliant, timely, efficient, respectful -- they were also very thorough about checking certain aspects of the estate/application that might have been rejected in Court, to ensure all was in the best shape possible prior to applying. I dealt with Sharon mainly who was wonderful. This company really is filling a major gap in the Scottish legal system and they honestly could charge more for their expertise and the great work they do! Although I was all over my wife's financial affairs, I was unfamiliar with the legalese required to submit form C1 to apply for confirmation. (Who knows which Sheriffdom they live in?!) The gov.uk "help notes" are less than useless. I saved nearly £1,000 by using "My Probate Partner" rather than a solicitor. The whole process from initiating contact with them to receiving Confirmation from Scottish Courts took 6 weeks and involved an exchange of 9 emails.

My family used My Probate Partner for Probate/Confirmation for my mum's estate instead of the family solicitor. The documentation and guides from My Probate Partner are excellent. The support from Mike via phone and email was very helpful. Finally, the clerk who we handed the forms to at the court was also helpful. I think applying for Probate yourself works as long as the estate is not overly complicated and you're prepared to do some admin yourself.
