Organized and Easy
The events are organized and it's easy to submit whether you are interested in someone else online. I have met some nice people at them. My only feedback though is that the spaces that are selected can be loud, which makes it difficult to hear others.

Well organized, but communication channels could use improvement
The event was mostly well organized, with frequent emails communicating what needed to be done for the online profile in the days leading up to the event. The host was amicable, and generally kept the event running on time.
However, the only means of communication after the event with a potential match was email. Despite matching with someone, I received no response to the email I sent the following day, nor with a follow up email sent later in the week. With email, I had no way of knowing whether my email had simply ended up in the recipient's junk folder or if I was being ignored. This turned my initial optimism of the positive experience of the event to downtrodden uncertainty as to whether I had adequate opportunity to connect with the other person at all.
I will come back and try this again, but this experience was quite demoralizing and exchanging phone numbers, rather than email addresses with matches could be an improvement.
Age distribution was also difficult at the event. The window was 25-39, but as a 25 year old, I did not meet anyone younger than 30. A more limited age range for people in their 20s would be nice.

We also want to clarify that it is very intentional that we only share email addresses with those you’ve matched with. While we understand the suggestion about exchanging phone numbers, providing them would create a significant security risk. With today’s tools, it’s surprisingly easy to uncover personal details such as home addresses through reverse lookups, and we take the privacy and safety of our daters extremely seriously. Email allows connections to begin in a secure, private way while keeping personal information protected.
We do recognize your frustration if a message goes unanswered — whether it ends up in a junk folder or simply isn’t replied to — often times daters are busy and haven't yet had a moment to respond.
We also hear you on the age-range point. While we aim to strike a balance so that everyone has a good mix of matches, we agree that sometimes a narrower window — particularly for daters in their 20s — could create more ideal introductions.

This company is a scam
This company is a scam. You buy a ticket to an event, then they cancel the event and "reschedule" you for a future event, which then gets cancelled. They will not refund your ticket citing their TOS, which certainly do state there are no refunds if circumstances (like weather) result in event cancellation, but which should assume a good faith effort to actually hold the events eventually rather than cancel events in perpetuity. Based on my experience i.can only assume this is a scam and they have no intention of ever actually hosting the event in question.

These are organized well enough that there is not a big imbalance between the number of guys and girls, unlike another organization who’s speed dating I attended. One of the two events I attended started somewhat late but otherwise it was very professional.

“Warning: Ticket Never Expires = Excuse Not to Refund”
I purchased a ticket for a MyCheekyDate speed dating event in San Francisco (Sept 4, 2025). My attendance was confirmed, but the organizer canceled with little notice. I asked to attend the Sept 11 event instead, but my request was ignored.
When I asked for a refund, they repeatedly refused, citing a “no refunds” policy and insisting my ticket “never expires.” This is unacceptable — a canceled event means the service I paid for was not delivered. Eventbrite’s own policies clearly state that canceled events must be refunded, yet the organizer deflected responsibility and pointed me in circles.
Reading other reviews, my experience is not unique: last-minute cancellations, poor communication, and refusal to honor refunds appear to be a recurring pattern with this company.
Bottom line: If you’re considering this service, be aware that you may pay for an event that never happens, and then face significant resistance trying to get your money back.
You will now see in their reply the kind of manipulation at play. I am really hoping this is helpful to someone else and prevents these people not only from scamming others but also from taking advantage of them and making them feel bad.:
🔎 Errors & Misrepresentations
“Rescheduled following multiple requests from fellow daters”
In reality: I was confirmed for Sept 4 and they canceled. I was not given meaningful notice or a choice — the change was imposed.
Manipulation: framing a cancellation as “rescheduling for the benefit of others” to shift blame away from their poor planning.
“Repeated offers to attend on September 11th”
In reality: I asked for Sept 11 specifically and was ignored multiple times. Their claim is the exact opposite of the written record.
Manipulation: rewriting history to make it seem like they were flexible when in fact they stonewalled me.
“Over 40 exchanged emails, all answered promptly”
In reality: they dragged the exchange out, dodged my direct refund questions, and often repeated the same copy-paste answers.
Manipulation: citing volume of replies as proof of good service, when it was really circular deflection.
“Our no-refund policy allows us to be understanding of life’s scheduling changes”
In reality: a no-refund policy protects them, not me. Their example (“what if someone is sick or stuck at work”) is irrelevant — those are customer cancellations, not company cancellations.
Manipulation: moral reframing — using “compassion” language to justify keeping my money for services not delivered.
“Your ticket never expires, transferable, usable in any city”
In reality: this is not equivalent to a refund. I bought a ticket for a specific event, time, and city — not an “IOU” to float indefinitely.
Manipulation: they present an inferior substitute as if it were a generous solution.
🎭 Types of Manipulation at Play
Gaslighting: Claiming they offered Sept 11 repeatedly when the written record shows otherwise.
Deflection: Focusing on volume of emails, number of global events, and 20 years of operation — none of which addresses my specific refund request.
Moral reframing: Positioning their no-refund policy as a form of “understanding and kindness,” when in practice it penalizes me.
Appeal to authority/scale: Throwing out “25,000 events” and “60 cities worldwide” to imply credibility, rather than addressing my individual case.

The event you registered for was rescheduled following multiple requests from fellow daters asking if they could move to another evening. With so many events, particularly in San Francisco, there is always another just around the corner with the next event 5 days away. Through Eventbrite alone, their app reflects nearly 25,000 events we have held through them.
Participants always have the option of reaching out to their ticket provider for assistance. Our events are participant-driven, which means that while rare, the experience is ultimately shaped by fellow attendees. As such, there will never be a refund policy that pleases everyone, though we do our best to balance fairness with flexibility.
As noted in our policies, we maintain a no-refund policy. While we understand this can feel frustrating, it’s what allows us to be understanding of life’s scheduling changes. We couldn’t imagine telling a dater who is sick, not feeling themselves, stuck at work, in traffic, or facing any other personal issue that they cannot reschedule. Dating is unpredictable — plans shift, cancellations happen, and sometimes - just as in life - daters sometimes fail to arrive altogether.
Our records reflect over 40 exchanged emails with you, all answered promptly, including repeated offers to attend on September 11th. Most importantly, your ticket never expires. It may be used for any future event, in any city, or even transferred to a friend.
As we approach our 20th year in more than 60 cities worldwide, our guiding principle remains the same: to be understanding of our daters and to foster that same understanding among them. It’s this commitment that has allowed us to remain the longest-running speed dating company in the world.

Did not produce anything near what was promised
EDITED TO ADD: The company's response refers to a second match - they set me up on exactly one, and only one, date. So the entire scenario of being misaligned about marriage is the definition of fiction. Also, I would love an explanation of how a potential BLIND match would know I have or haven't been to a speed dating event? In all likelihood, any potential match also hasn't been to one of the events since they are cancelled so frequently. A line by line response is needed to truly expose the gaslighting of this company but here's the TLDR: it's a scam.
This company appears to be nothing more than a money grab. I signed up for a 4 date service around April of 2024. After MONTHS of emailing asking about any matches, and a first request for a refund, they presented me with a couple of potential dates. I decided to move forward with one of the potential dates (as the other potential date they presented, by their own admission, was not open to potential marriage which was my stated intention). I went on the date with the potential match, who was very nice, but was a different person than they had described (one example, 10+ years older than my preferred age range and older than they represented he was). That was my one, and only date since April of 2024 (it's now August 2025). Any time you ask for an update, their only response is to tell you that matching takes time and to suggest to go to their speed dating events. By the beginning of this year, I've made peace with the fact I was scammed. That hasn't stopped them from sending emails for me to sign up for another match making package though. Wow!

We see that you purchased our Blind-Date Matchmaking & Events package, which includes both private introductions and access to our events. Your first introduction was described as “nice” but without chemistry — which is a natural outcome in dating. Interestingly, your match expressed that the two of you were continuing to see each other, highlighting how differently people can experience the very same interaction.
Your second introduction reflected some important but sensitive differences. While you both shared the desire for marriage, the pace at which those milestones were approached felt mismatched. Relationships evolve in stages, and many daters are understandably cautious about accelerating too quickly into marriage and family. This is extremely common, and most gentlemen do not want to feel pressured into a rapid commitment.
We also note that, to date, you have not attended any of our events — an integral part of your package and offered at no additional cost. Our events are a wonderful way to meet others in a natural, social setting, and many potential matches feel encouraged when they see someone actively participating. Conversely, choosing not to attend can unintentionally signal a lack of openness, which may limit opportunities further. Matches often ask about their potential date’s event participation, and hosts frequently provide feedback that helps daters connect more meaningfully. None of our events in the NYC area have been rescheduled since the buyer purchased.
