Today my tax was due on my car
Today my tax was due on my car. The DVLA don't now send renewal forms or it seems renewal emails. So I went to my puchase file to find there was no V5!
I lead a busy life as a carer of 70 years and just assumed I'd lost it. DVLA web site wouldn't let get a replacement so I rang them (40 mins). They tell me the seller (Drive Hyundai also under Minstergate) never issued a V5. So I had to go down to the post office with my relevant docs and get a new V5 which cost me £25.
Customer Service just makes me laugh!
Are you able to send me the £25 for your negligence and maybe £50 for a wasted and fairly unpleasant morning?

We booked our Kona in for a service and waited an extra 3 weeks so my wife had a courtesy car. Turned up only to be told they didn't have a courtesy car. We were told the car would be ready for 2.30pm. The car was eventually ready at 5.15pm. Had to take the car back to have the Aircon gassed. Eventually at 5pm they told us they couldn't do it after having the car all day. The service is lousy there. We have now ordered the new Renault 5 but we wanted a Kona electric at first but after the service at Drive in Hull there was no way we were ordering from them. When it was Minster it was brilliant but Drive are not good at all.

Exceptional Service
I would like to say a massive thank you to Debbie at Minstergate, Hull.
I arrived at the showroom at 07.45hrs this morning, knowing the opening time was 8am, so I was prepared to wait, however Debbie welcomed me and sorted the paperwork out for my car .
Debbie, was very friendly, polite and professional. Nothing was too much trouble at all, she went through the paperwork with me and was very informative and diligent.
When I returned to collect my car, I was seen again by Debbie.
Debbie"s customer service skills and knowledge were exceptional and she should be recognised for her outstanding work.

27k used car lasted 3 hours …
Purchased a £27k used VW Tiguan from Hyundai York. (Minsterhate Drive) I couldn’t believe it when it only came with a 1 month warranty. 🚩 For such a big company and a more than average cost for a used car, it’s appalling. They should have more trust in the used cars they sell, especially used cars at almost £27k.
Anyway… whilst going through the sales process and trying to get a deal (impossible), the young sales man when asked stated the car had 2 previous owners (sounds about right at 36000 miles). So after having to ask for a coffee (twice) and a lengthy wait whilst the went to the post office to apply for a replacement v5c (the original one they had was not recognised by DVLA) 🚩 and various trips to see the manager, I frustratingly bought the car with a deal that was non existent. They even tried to get me to pay a £99 admin fee despite the advertisement saying no additional fees exc with the list price 🚩 so hey, I saved £99 but then forked out another £299 for a years warranty which incidentally doesn’t start after their free 1 month warranty. That is automatically removed so you get 12 months instead of 13 months. 🚩
I drove the vehicle home. Parked it up. Next day drove it for 2 hours and then boom…management fault lights, warning lights, gearbox going into emergency mode. No reverse gear. 🚩 As I cradled along and to try and drive back to the dealership, I phoned them and asked specifically to speak to the salesman who sold me the car a day earlier I was literally breaking down, to be told that it was his day off. No one was available but they will have a manager phone you back. They didn’t return my call! 🚩
It took me about oh 50 minutes to crawl back to the dealership, dump the car and in a fit of rage I informed them I don’t want the car anymore and demanded a full refund of £27250. The first person I met through the door… the salesman who sold me the car and it was his day off apparently! 🚩
Not much longer now… they offered ME coffee this time whilst I waiting for someone to deal with me. Fortunately a nice manager called Jason was super helpful ( he was temporary on site) and gave me a courtesy car that resembled a hair dryer. Suitable enough for me to fit my 6’4 frame into. 🚩
The next day, I returned the car and declined the Tiguan. Jason was the only reason why I have given 2 stars instead of 1 as he didn’t hassle me, he accepted the car was faulty and I received a full refund within 2-3 working days.
Oh and when the v5c came to my home, it has 4 previous owners!!! 🚩
A lucky escape it would seem and thankfully I will never enter this dealership again or any other DRIVE dealership.

Use Minstergate/Drive if you want to throw your money away!
We purchased a brand new MG3 from the Hessle site in Hull and the initial experience was fine it was easy. But it’s meant to be easy so they can trap you. The car has been nothing but trouble from the moment we drove out of the forecourt and after 5 repeated visits and getting constantly fobbed off we have decided to cut our losses. The car cuts out in stationary traffic and is dangerous. We will be collecting a new car bought from a different dealer and a different brand. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

What a load of lying con artists my step dad ordered a car from them and got a £1000 off a new MG HS Trophy he waited for 3 months and after 100s of calls which they refused to answer just thobbed him off saying it was on its way finally he went in and confronted them they admitted they'd never even ordered the vehicle what a pack of low life's, I'd avoid this dealership at all costs all because they'd agreed to a deal they couldn't deliver.

I have been a customer at Minstergate…
I have been a customer at Minstergate Scarborough for many a year and find them extremely friendly and keen to help. From Carl, the manager to the sales teams, receptionists and my favourite Jess, the service person, who when she answers the phone, in a jovial manner always makes me smile. Just had my latest Hyundai receive it's 2nd year service. My car was picked up from my home by James an apprentice technician who was very friendly and helpful to me, serviced by Christian the technician who sent me a video of the service. Received a call from receptionist Elaine to check how my service went, she also was very friendly and helpful. If all Hyundai centres are as good as Drive Hyundai Scarborough , I can't understand the negative comments on these reviews.

Horrendous customer services.

Minstergate MG, York customer services have been horrendous with non existint communication unless we call, and then given false and musleading information to appease us. Horrendous company. Do not buy from them.
Update received car in July however had nothing but trouble with car, its been in for repairs 4 times and still not fixed as computer system doesn't work. Do not buy.

I was interested in buying a car from this garage, I live 70mi away. I phoned for some details on the car, used their website to value my part exchange (a 3month old car, that is now too small for my needs) and calculate finance. Went through details on the phone and was advised to "come and view the car, the online valuation tool is often below what we can offer you". They insinuated a good deal could be put together, spoke of discounts, Servicing being included etc.
I covered the 140mi round trip, when I got there the car wasn't as described. It was <2yrs old, had 3 near bald tyres, the electronic handbrake button had snapped off (no way to put it on or off), Wear to some components such as steering wheel and door card, multiple marks to exterior.
The issues could have been resolved, I was still up for potentially putting a deal together. They had a look at my car (unmarked with 2800mi on!) And then proceeded to tell me, their online valuation tool was way out and offered me over £2000 LESS than their website had stated!
The attitudes weren't great and customer service as a whole was a massive letdown.
I wasted my time, energy and fuel - I'm posting this review to ensure you don't!

Easy and straight forward to deal with
Minstergate York l was greeted by both Chris and David on arrival. The car was exactly as it had been described. The purchase and paperwork was completed quickly and I left a very happy customer!!.

Bought a nearly new Peugeot through Phil at Scarborough. All efficiently dealt with, the car was well prepped and a fair deal so would happily recommend Minstergate.

Perfect experience
Looked all over the Uk for the right vehicle which I found with Minstergate in Scarborough, a Cracking looking blue (new facelift) Peugeot 3008 with only 4000 miles on her, Imy was great from start to finish and very understanding/patient with me as I had a delay in sourcing the funds, thanks also to Mark the owner who drove the car up from Scarborough to Edinburgh literally the next day payment was received, as my payment was late but delivery slot had already been made.
The vehicle itself was in just the same condition as a brand new vehicle to be honest, with not one single scratch or dent anywhere and it is a joy to drive, I highly recommend 3008 if you want a practical, reliable, roomy vehicle which looks great inside and out. Check out the JD power dependability survey for Peugeot as a reliable manufacturer and you will see they are at the top of the list, oh and the quality inside is similar to Audi quality.
I know where i am buying my next car from, i just wish they were closer!
