Sadly, a very disappointing experience as a long-time customer, largely due to the way customer service staff seem to have been trained.

This review is in reference to my tenth order with MDP, as I have been a customer since 2020 and found their prices and service to normally be very good.

In this instance, it was one of my smallest orders (3 metres of purple Hot Flex vinyl for delivery) and in the past I've placed much larger orders, pretty much only ever for collection from their Openshaw trade desk, which has always been great.

On this occasion, I was supplied with 270cm of vinyl, which is 30cm (a full ruler's length) shorter than what I had ordered and paid for. Due to how accurate they've been in the past—I always measure the cuts sent to me, as a retail business, margins should regularly be watched—I've had no issues, but I decided to raise this one with customer services in order to have it rectified.

Upon contacting them, I was responded to by Erin, who requested that I supply photographic evidence of the shortfall. Clearly, due to the intended use of the vinyl, and how a full weekend had passed since my initial enquiry was lodged, I had already cut and used the vinyl for the project it was allocated to. Immediately, Erin responded by saying "if the vinyl has been used, we cannot look into this". This was clearly an effort to shirk responsibilities and costs as fast as possible and simply fob me off.

In hindsight, because of my stature as a long-time customer who had never raised any issues before, I expected MDP's customer services to trust me based purely on that, which is why I felt no need to take a photo of me actually measuring the vinyl (which is ludicrous to say the least). Instead, I was met with disbelief, rigidity, and a harsh and condescending tone from Erin stating that I, "should not have used the vinyl if it was wrong" — why would I not use a length of vinyl that has been cut short? Are you going to issue me with a replacement 3 metres instead of sending out the missing length? It was an absolutely ridiculous email to read.

After threatening them with a chargeback via my original payment method—as they had broken the transaction's contract and infringed on my consumer rights—I was offered a refund of £2.03 (the difference of the missing vinyl's cost) as a "goodwill" gesture. Laughable. A "goodwill" gesture? It is my right to have the correct goods delivered to me or receive a refund. To frame it as if MDP is taking pity on me was completely infuriating.

Even from the outset, I was mindful about saving MDP money. I would've even settled for a gift certificate amount of credit for the store if they weren't able to send the remaining length of vinyl out, as I use their services often, but when met with such a surly and belligerent customer service assistant, I felt very frustrated.

I write this review not to warn people from using MDP, as their products are good and their service largely so as well, but instead to make the business aware that they need to revisit their customer service assistant training procedures.

A one-time customer making a complaint? Sure, ask them for evidence.

A 10-time customer raising a SMALL issue about an order? Take them at their word; their future orders are worth more to you than 30cm of vinyl. This was absolutely about principle for me, and MDP should know better how to behave in a professional manner.

Company and product is good but they Fastway to deliver in my area of Limerick and they are useless. Parcel gets left at a shop 8 miles from our house. Fastest driver refuses to deliver to the house. I approached MDP about this and all I got was it's who we use, we'll put a note on it. Guess what lads he left where he always leaves, 8 miles away.
You want me to pay for this type of delivery service? You need to sort things out, not acceptable

I have no contract with Fastway, I can't call Fastway when my invoice is due and say I'm not paying for this one as he doesn't deliver it properly. Your excuse was pathetic, you have all the control over who makes deliveries for you.
