Re. Orchid Place, Exeter. Kelly Murch, Chas and the team have been exemplary in all aspects. Kelly, in particular has answered our questions in a professional and genuinely caring manner.
Aleks was so helpful and knowledgeable helping my Mum to fill in the 32 pages to claim attendance allowance, she took time to listen to my Mum and explain the hole process.
We would highly recommend this service for anyone who needs help.
Our initial point of contact was Sammie Gass who guided us through the process very efficiently.
Dad had decided that, at the ripe old age of 98, renting a property that offered Assisted Living would be of benefit whilst his existing flat was being updated as he wanted to remain there with a live in carer. He had chosen Virginia Water as his preferred location.
Niccy Cooper processed the documentation as quickly as possible so that we could meet a preordained program to get Dad’s essential belongings and furniture moved in before he arrived later in the day.
That said, it’s a fantastic atmosphere and the staff have been incredibly helpful and friendly, especially Estates Manager Vengai Chimanga and his team at Augustus House.
I wonder if Dad’s nesting there now….🙂

I’m a resident at Jackson Place Alcester we have the best manageress in Emma Wiggins she organises many events which we can join or not depending on how we feel,she will help us with any problems we have medical or otherwise,and the twice weekly coffee morning she keeps us updated,I feel moving here was the best thing I ever did Thank you Emma from Bernard

i am a service provider and attend Roman court on a regular basis i would like to nominate Joanne Birch the house manager since starting at Roman court i have found Joanne to be very pleasant polite lady who is extremely hard working and nothing is to much trouble for her, her relationship with homeowners is wonderful to see as they all appear to have the greatest respect for Joanne and all she does for them.

She is a very caring person - she heard about my husband having a fall recently and emailed me to see how he was. I stayed overnight as a guest as I was visiting friends in Lichfield. Aideen was very helpful and gave clear instructions on how to access the building, wifi, etc. She even answered my queries on her day off. The room was lovely and had everything we needed. A couple of the residents were also friendly and helpful. I would stay again.

My parents moved into Buttercross Court 2 months ago and it has been a very positive experience. Although we didn’t buy the apartment directly from McCarthy and Stone, the support we had from Karen the manager was exceptional. She has been extremely kind and thoughtful to our whole family from the start. Karen gave very clear guidance on how the development operates and was very helpful with the moving-in process. My parents have been made extremely welcome and Karen is always available to help them if they need it. She checks up on them regularly and is always cheerful and positive. My parents are thoroughly enjoying participating in social events, some of which have been organised by Karen, and they feel safe in their new home. We are so grateful to Karen for helping my parents cope with such a major change to their lives and we cannot thank her enough.

Sarah and the team at Jebb Court have been absolutely wonderful. The level of care, kindness, and attention they show really goes above and beyond what you’d expect. Whenever my mother needed support, nothing was ever too much trouble—they were always quick to help, patient, and genuinely compassionate.
Sarah in particular stands out as an exceptional manager. She creates a safe, welcoming environment and clearly cares deeply about the residents and their wellbeing. It’s incredibly reassuring to know my mother is in such capable and caring hands.
I would highly recommend Jebb Court to anyone looking for a place where residents are truly valued and looked after.

Some two years ago I wrote about the purchasing experience which was excellent.
Now after two years of living here, here are my honest opinions. This is based on our time at Knox Court in Rugby.
The developments are nice places to live with a lot going on to make you feel part of a community. They have dedicated staff who work hard. We have a brilliant Duty Manager who arranges events and a Social Committee who raise funds to put on events.
However, living here can become frustrating - it takes ages for McS to get anything done! Last year at a Home Owners meeting we asked for some new garden umbrellas to be ordered. It was agreed but at the start of a new season they still haven’t appeared. Other suggestions made by residents have been totally ignored - little things like a news sheet for residents and some form of remembering those who have left us. It leaves us feeling that our input isn’t really valued.
To do anything to the apartment you own, you have to get permission by filling in a form and submitting it to “Permissions”. They appear to take ages to respond presumably forgetting that we are old and that we may lose special deals because of their delays. At one stage they did insist that any contractor working here must have £5 million of Public Liability Insurance. This was quite absurd if you just wanted to have a dishwasher fitted. They do seem to have relaxed this requirement at last but there is still quite a form to fill in! We have 2 EV charging posts which don’t appear to work - McS blames the supplier who, in turn, blames McS. It’s so frustrating to unpick what is actually the case and I am no wiser now than when I first tried to work it out.
Resales are a problem with 4 apartments currently available. These are not going to sell whilst the remaining few new ones are offered with all sorts of incentives. In the meantime, hapless and grieving families are expected to continue paying the service charge and Council Tax.
McS have some talented sales staff but don’t utilise them for resales - anyone who is interested is shown round by Managers. Good, though they are, this is no substitute for proper sales people. In my opinion some of the existing new sales staff could be deployed , perhaps on a regional basis, to facilitate effective resales. Other companies have introduced a buy back scheme so maybe McS should consider something similar. This might provide a real incentive for McS to pull their fingers out on resales!
When we purchased here it was sold on the basis that these developments are not Care Homes but provide independent living with support when required. As we get older we expect we will need assistance but sadly, McS now take in people who can do little for themselves and would be better stimulated in a Care Homes. It’s a fine line I know but I suspect McS make a lot of money out of these care services. If you do not know where you live-the number of your apartment- can you really be capable of living independently? McS obviously think so!
So it’s good and bad but, on balance, it’s ok. Perhaps I’ll post again if Im still here in two years!

My grandparents have been living at Bluebell House in Milton Keynes for a few months and it’s given them a new lease of life. When I moved to Market House Wimborne I was very low. Since living here everyone has lifted my spirits. I have been here 6 months and I am a much happier person. The staff are always happy to help whatever the problem big or small. I would rather be here than anywhere else.

My mum has been living at Lady Susan Court, Basingstoke for five month, and moving there has proven to be a great decision. She is very comfortable and happy in her apartment.
She eats in the dining room every day, and rates it highly. On the occasions I join her, I have always found the meals to be beautifully presented, nutritious, and very enjoyable. There is also a wonderful range of activities on offer, which has helped her settle in so well. She especially enjoys the quizzes, knit and natter sessions, movie nights, and even indoor Kurling!
The other residents have been warm, friendly, and very welcoming, creating a lovely community atmosphere. I would also like to mention the fantastic staff members we have mainly dealt with – Julie, Louise, Janett, Pat, and Leyanary. They are naturally caring, friendly, and supportive, while also being highly professional and efficient in everything they do.
Lady Susan Court has given my mum comfort, companionship, and a happy new chapter in life. We are so pleased she chose to move there and would highly recommend it to anyone considering retirement living.
