Flawless experience @ JT Hughes in Newtown, Wales

I recently purchased a 2020 Honda Civic 1.5 Turbo Sport from JT Hughes in Newtown, Wales, and I can honestly say the entire experience was outstanding from start to finish.

From my very first enquiry, John Dee was the consummate professional. As a cash buyer travelling all the way from Glasgow, I wasn't initially able to view the car in person. Without any prompting from me, John took the time to record and send a personalised walk-around video of the vehicle, which immediately gave me confidence in both the car and the dealership.

John's communication throughout was exceptional—professional, helpful, and always prompt. I wanted to secure the car with a deposit, but the dealership's standard policy was a non-refundable £500 deposit. Given the distance involved and my inability to view the vehicle beforehand, I wasn't comfortable with that arrangement. John went above and beyond to help arrange a refundable £500 deposit, allowing me to reserve the car and travel to Wales to inspect and test drive it before making my final decision.

On the day of collection, John even gave me a courtesy call while I was travelling to confirm my estimated arrival time. When I arrived, the car was waiting for me, pristinely presented and absolutely immaculate. It was clear that John had prepared everything in advance to ensure the process was as smooth as possible. He also offered refreshments to both me and my friend, which was greatly appreciated given the warm weather.

The test drive was excellent. There was no pressure or rushing, and John took us on a route that allowed me to experience the car at a variety of speeds and road conditions. Once I had made my decision, the paperwork was straightforward and efficiently handled. As an added touch, John and his manager provided a complimentary tank of fuel to help with my journey back to Glasgow.

Another pleasant surprise was how quickly the V5C arrived—less than three working days after purchase—which meant I was able to transfer my private registration plates without unnecessary delay.

One of the reasons I chose JT Hughes was the consistently glowing reviews and the comprehensive warranty package they offer, and I'm pleased to say my experience fully lived up to that reputation. John even followed up later in the week with a thank-you email and to check how I was getting on with the car, which demonstrated a genuine commitment to customer service beyond the sale itself.

John was not only highly professional but also personable and approachable throughout the entire process. Purchasing a car from hundreds of miles away could easily have been stressful, but thanks to John and the team at JT Hughes, it was a genuinely enjoyable experience.

Top-class service from start to finish. I would not hesitate to recommend John Dee and JT Hughes to anyone looking for a quality vehicle and exceptional customer care.

If I could give zero stars to this…

If I could give zero stars to this Rob-dog of a company I would!! I took out a service plan with them for my Honda Jazz and it was never mentioned that I would have to pay £18 ON TOP OF THE PLAN COST JUST FOR THEM TO PRINT OUT THE PLAN ( I can’t think of any other reason) how can they justify this charge!!! A minor service has just cost me £192!!! As far as I’m concerned it’s actually cost me £210!!! I have cancelled the plan today and Honda know what they can do… the woman in J T Hughes TELFORD didn’t mention the charge when I said I was getting rid of the car and needed to cancel the plan… probably hadn’t got the nerve to admit I was about to get shafted for another £18!!
All I can say is you are robbers and I would never recommend Honda J T Hughes Telford unless you don’t mind getting your pocket picked!!!

Service plans are designed to fix servicing costs at current prices, offering flexible payment options and protection against inflationary increases in oil, parts, and labour. By way of illustration, the same service is now priced at £280, which demonstrates the value of the plan in helping to manage and reduce costs over time, including in your case. We are sorry that your experience has led you to feel dissatisfied. However, the view presented in your review does not reflect our understanding of the agreement or the standards we aim to uphold. We pride ourselves on delivering a high level of customer service and always strive to place our customers at the centre of everything we do.

Hard company to deal with

Hard company to deal with. They never answer the phone and trying to order parts is impossible. As someone that works in the motor trade and often uses main dealers to order parts this company is one of the hardest to deal with.

Not open on Sundays

Myself and my partner were looking for a new car and the only day we are both free is a Sunday. We visited two other car dealers on Sunday morning before deciding to go to this one but unfortunately it was closed. We looked online at the opening hours and it’s not open on Sundays. We drove to Chester to another dealer and found they had more cars in stock and the prices were cheaper. We put a deposit on one the same day.
Very frustrating when you want to use local businesses but when they aren’t open on Sundays it’s very hard. This was the only car dealer we visited yesterday that was closed.

Disappointing experience

I had a very disappointing experience with this garage. It was extremely difficult to get through to them by phone, and when I tried to find alternative ways to contact them, their website was no help at all. There’s no email address listed, just a basic service request form for booking a service or MOT.
I contacted four different garages for the same repair and this one took the longest to respond, when they finally did get back to me, the quote they provided was by far the most expensive.
The new and used cars listed on their website are also more expensive than the dealer next door, with fewer incentives offered to actually make a purchase.

A good experience all round

We had excellent service here when we bought our car. Lee was friendly and professional as was his colleague. He took time to explain our options clearly and we did not feel pressured to buy immediately, we had time to reflect before making a decision. The buying process was clear and straightforward and did not take an unreasonable amount of time even though the car had to come to the dealership from away. We would definitely use them again if we decided to change the car. We really like our Torres and think it was excellent value for money.

2017 Jazz repairs . Satisfaction.

My wife’s 2017 Jazz, purchased and serviced by Shrewsbury Honda, recently suffered total failure of the infotainment screen. The cost of a new replacement was an eye watering £3000 plus !
Because of the low mileage and condition of the car I decided to go ahead. In addition to the purchase price the labour charges bought it up to just under £3500.
I have to say that the consideration I received from the Service Manager, Richard, and his team under the circumstances was superb. Richard managed to reduce the costs down to the absolute minimum, saving me hundreds, along with a speedy and efficient level of service , returning my car swiftly.
I have no doubt that using the main dealer for all serving and repairs is well worth any extra it may cost. Nothing was too much trouble and it was clear that customer service is valued by them.
So . Thank you Richard and all your colleagues for such a high level of customer service.

Fantastic service from the Telford branch.

Fantastic service from the Telford Hyundai branch. Had a few warranty repairs and a service carried out on my Ioniq 5 and have always had really good service. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. No issues recommending them for any work your Hyundai needs.

Abomination of a company to work for

Abomination of a company to work for. Answered a call as was my job in sales and and marketing, and got dragged into the office because I was sympathetic with a customer who had a problem with her battery. I was recorded by a mystery shopper and reprimanded for saying it probably wasn't a big problem, maybe a loose wire. Apparently I was supposed to sell a new battery! If you respect people who just want to earn a living, please don't support this horrible little business

Mazda Telford Service experience

After the last service (where the brake fluid and filters were changed -4th service for my CX-5), I started to hear a high-pitched squeaking noise when lightly pressing the brakes at low speed. This sound was not present before the service. I called them but they are telling it is just a coincidence ! I will take my car to service again but not here as you said you will charge!

Unprofessional

Unprofessional, poor service.
Poor communication from the sales assistant Richard - failed to reply to my email for days - I had to chase him up via telephone. He has also twice failed to return my call asking for advice. When I purchased my car he made typing errors on the V5C meaning I had to contact the DVLA to get this corrected. He also advised he would email the invoice to me within 24 hours - again, I had to chase this and received it a week later in the form of a link, no additional message apologising for not sending it through on time.

Amazing!

Lee was a great help assisting me to find a car. I never felt pressured into making a decision and he was open to all questions that I had. I am very happy with my purchase- definitely would use them again in the future or for other family members.

My Happy day

My Hyundai experience so far has been first class. The salesperson Amy Witcombe “JT Hughes Shrewsbury”went above and beyond in helping me get my insurance sorted so we could do the handover I will be forever grateful. I’m loving the car and hopefully will continue to do so

Top quality staff

Top quality staff, very professional and very knowledgeable. Always a pleasure to deal with JT Hughes Newtown staff, 3rd vehicle I've purchased from them, I will most likely get the next one from here too. All staff should be commended for their excellent customer service.
