Unfortunately this company uses InPost. That's fine but probably not for bare root wallflowers. Knew the delivery was happening early evening. Not ideal. Left the porch light on and a note asking the courier ring the door bell. 20:18 one of the dogs jumped down and looked towards the front door. No barking but I thought I'd better check. Yes there it was. The courier left the package on the front path in full view of passers-by. On his delivery note claimed to have left it in "an outbuilding". By now of course it's very dark so plants put into a compost filled plant pot. I note that the plant roots were very dry which didn't fill me with confidence. Shame Royal Mail wasn't used. They deliver in daylight giving a sporting chance of getting the plants into the ground. Look forward to seeing what customer setvice says in response to my email. I've never used this company previously and won't in future. Tulip bulbs were quite small arrived and went to a locker. All well and good but if you away you may well miss the 5 days you have to collect items.

Having sent several messages via trustpilot regarding replacing Brussel seeds with out of date stock i am still waiting a in date replacement. Lesson one and dodgy company lesson two do not use this company again

I bought some Langedijk 4 cabbage seeds this year and most failed to germinate, even in a controlled germination test. Johnsons customer service said "[as the seeds] were purchased from a retailer we cannot process any kind of refund". Nor did they have any seeds of this variety to offer as a replacement.

Other seeds from the group that includes Johnsons seeds (Mr Fothergils, etc.) have failed to impress in recent years. I’ve had Iceberg 2 lettuce seed that failed to produce anything recognisable as a lettuce (apparently they were a N America variety accidentally packed and sold in the UK). Unbelievably, and unknown to me until too late, the Iceberg 2 seed sent to me as a replacement were from the same lot, so I lost two years of produce.
I have also had Nicotiana seed that produced flowers of an entirely different colour to that claimed on the packet.

Bought a packet of Johnsons Leek seeds(Autora F1) from a garden centre (Price Code G). I was very surprised to discover, after opening the packet, there there were only around 30 seeds in the packet! Nothing on the packet about the number of seeds in it - so perhaps my fault for trusting Johnsons. I looked at another packet from another company - the left over packet from last year - to find the packet stated "approximately 350 seeds". Lesson 1: Check the packet before you buy! Lesson 2: Don't bother with Johnsons - there are plenty other seed sellers out there.

This company replied and had the cheek to ask me to contact customer services. Literally how may times do you have to contact customer services. Obviously taking the effort to respond to a review looks as though they care this could not be further from the truth.

This order was placed on the website for an item that was specified as being 'In Stock', but a different product was supplied.

Substituting items without prior consultation with the customer smacks of sharp business practice and (to my mind) is in clear breach of trading standards.

Update : I am awaiting (as of 08/05/26 14:31) a reply to my email to Customer Services of 06/05/26

Of the two packets of seeds I bought, both contained less than the average amount detailed in the packet and less than half germinated. This is in comparison to 3 packets of seeds bought from Simply Seed where 100% germinated every time. I won't be wasting my money or energy on Johnsons Seeds again.

Really disappointing - genuine gardener here who bought, paid and waited for a much needed Darlac 5 garden hand tool collection advertised in stock in a sale at a cracking price on this company’s website (including £4.95 shipping costs) - obviously they were happy to trouser my cash right away and Johnsons confirmed they were getting my order ready to be shipped but disappointingly, over 3 weeks later after non receipt of the goods and multiple order update requests i get an email with a woeful tale about being let down by suppliers, cancelling my order and refunding apologetically. You do have to be really quick these days to beat the scalpers with well known online auction business accounts when these things crop up.

Bought a packet of tumbling Tom's tomato seeds for £4.49 from the range got 21 in the pack when should have got 20, thought I was so lucky, been growing tomatoes for 20 years but not one in the packet germinated, old seeds repacked never buying again ever

I bought Johnson’s tumbling tomatoes seeds from a reputable garden centre, when I was ready to sow them there was only 6 seeds in the packet, I wanted to sow a pot for my Grandson & some for me but could only do one pot. Very disappointing.

Just opened a packet of Tomato Shirley F1 seeds to find only 9 seeds inside. I was expecting at least 25 !!!

Got charged £3.99 for Johnsons seeds, one packet of tomatoes,,,,
There was a problem, there were only 12 seeds for four quid, that makes them .33p pence each, must be good seeds and produce 50kg per seed to be viable.
Waiting to hear from Johnsons, if it's favourable I will remove this NEGITIVE feedback, might even give positive feedback, reply will have to be A1 for that.

Update.
They did get in touch to say they would send me some seeds. GUESS WHAT NO SEED CAME OR ANY MORE CONTACT.

I placed an order on 9 September mainly for snowdrops to plant on my husband's grave. I was not aware that the snowdrop bulbs were not available until the rest of the order had arrived which advised they would be sent out from 29 October onwards. I phoned on the 6 October to confirm this and then waited and waited and waited. I phoned approximately 4 times to chase up this order and every time I was told they had arrived at the company and were being dispatched but they never arrived. I finally asked for a refund and then had to pay delivery again with another company. Bulbs arrived after 5 days and ready to be planted. Very frustrating as I feel staff members at Johnsons should have just said bulbs delayed especially as I said they were for a grave. I have given 1 star as phone always picked up.

I received the packets…Of bulbs safely.

Substantial plants that looked healthy. Have bought before, so looking forward to some lovely flowers.

Most of the wall flowers were yellow.

Lovely wallflowers , carefully packed and delivered

The bulbs are a good size and look in great condition the delivery was good for the bulbs and the seeds ordered.

About half the bare root wallflowers arrived in very poor condition and have not revived even after standing in a bucket of water as recommended. After a couple of days planted out they show no sign of reviving. I suspect the plants were too long in transit as there was a long delay between being informed that they had been dispatched and them actually arriving. Very disappointing and my planned display for spring has been spoiled.
