Beware if you are buying these from the…

Beware if you are buying these from the US. I got hit with a 25% duty and tax invoice from FedEx. I would have thought twice about the purchase knowing that $280 would be added to the cost. I also had to fill out a Customs and Border Protection form just to get them released from US customs. The quality of the lights is great but we had to hire an electrician to run all the internal wires through the lights just to be able to install them. All in the lights ended up being double the cost we had anticipated.

This is crazy as a lighting fixture…

This is crazy as a lighting fixture from an American manufacturer had to be ordered from abroad. Wanted a specific lighting fixture in chrome, but in the USA it was only available in brushed nickel or bronze. Searching the net found that ideas4lighting had it. Was leery about ordering something from a company I've never orderd from before and was 3 thousand miles away in the UK. Needn't have worried. They were great. Communication was spot on concerning the availability of the fixture and timely updates as to the shipping status. My order arrived within the time frame originally specified and was in perfect condition. Very satisfied. A+++ company to deal with.

Great after sales service

I ordered a outdoor light and when it was delivered there was a crack in the lens. I contacted Ideas4lighting and attached pics of damaged part. Customer service where amazing a person called Simon took up my issue and without hesitation shipped a new light to me. That's what I call after sales service.

Very prompt service

Very prompt service. Arrived ahead of estimated time. Well packaged. We were kept very well informed the whole time. Second time we have placed an order with same experience and would highly recommend this firm.

AVOID!!!

AVOID!!!
This company do not understand the value of customer service at all.
And to add to insult, in most replies on review, sarcastically point out the ridiculous T&Cs. Granted, everybody must have conditions but they should be highlighted better.
I ordered some lights, and after showing them to my builder, realised that what I ordered would be too big.
I tried to cancel the order, as it says you can, but because they take days to respond to any email, it had been dispatched.
When I finally got the lights, I did send them back to be told sorry, you can’t have a refund because they are sale items and in the T&Cs, it states that this is the case.
I clearly told them that I did not see this and it’s genuinely a mistake but apparently, hard luck.
I would not give them any business going forward at all.

TERRIBLE

I never post reviews but feel compelled to write a review here. I’ve bought a very expensive light (c£1000) which arrived damaged - appreciate this is an accident in transit. The light also looked different to the photos on the website and we don’t like it as it doesn’t suit the style of our home.

I went online to my account and was able to select a return. After multiple follow up emails I was told by ideas4lighting that a new light had been issued and sent to me. I’ve explained multiple times I do not want a new light as we don’t like it and they now say that in their terms and conditions a new item will be automatically issued and making it difficult for me to get a refund.

I’m deeply concerned given the cost of the light. This seems like a business with no interest in positive customer experience and they’re clearly trying to prevent me receiving a refund.

Please allow me to go through some of the points that you have made in review above and clarify some things.

- You purchased a "Made to Order" item which are not eligible for cancellation/return/refund
- In our T&C's which you accepted and agreed to at the time of purchase which clearly do state that we reserve the right to repair/replace the item and it is at our discretion which of these options are chosen.
- We clearly specify that items that are special order / made to order will deviate slightly for the images on the website given the nature of the item. Since these are handmade to order deviations are expected and again this is outlined on our website.

We are not the type of business that refuses refunds without any merit and we find it quite worrying that we are being accused of something like this along with us having "no interest in positive customer experience". We cannot be held liable for customers who do not adhere to the terms and conditions that they have agreed to. As a small family owned business this is absolutely not how we operate and false comments such as these can be extremely damaging

Ideas4lighting, a cut above the rest!

Ideas4lighting has provided excellent service when I recently purchased (2) Kilcher Tournai Outdoor Pedestal Lanterns. I purchased the lights online and had several questions that Jason and Rob took the time to research and promptly answer. Additionally, the pricing was far better than several other stores that I researched and I live in the United States. Their customer service far exceeded my expectations and they assisted me with customs for my purchase. Although I live in the U.S. I would definitely purchase from Ideas4lighting again for their professionalism, customer service, family owned business and for the quality and pricing of their products. Jason and Rob are excellent.

One to avoid

Definitely a company to avoid.
Interesting to see the responses here to negative reviews as they reflect the experience I had: basically blaming the customer for not reading the fine print about specifications or terms and conditions they’d never expect.
I purchased a very nice lamp base but the only snag was that it was fitted with a continental two-pin plug. I contacted them about it and asked for an adaptor so that I could actually use my purchase. Rather than, in the interests of customer service and at very little cost to them, sending me an adaptor, they chose to point out that at the bottom of a long list of features, it stated that the lamp was fitted with what they termed an EU plug.
When I pointed out that funnily enough, it never would have crossed my mind to check that a UK company selling to UK customers was selling compatible products, they just suggested I fork out for an adaptor - and buy it from them.
I subsequently filled out the service questionnaire I was sent, outlining my disappointment with both my purchase and customer service experience, but received no further contact. Their customer service team, if indeed it exists, would really benefit from some training.

I do apologise you feel this way but allow me to go through the information you have provided along with information that is currently available.

The brand you had bought was a European brand which is clearly stated on that specific brands section on our website, in this case they are based in the Netherlands.

As you have already stated this was also written that the item would come with an EU plug on the product listing itself.

I again do apologise that you feel this way however it is extremely unfair to rate us so low due to the fact that the information provided was not checked. We are a small family owned business and reviews such as these can have a massive knock on effect on our operations so we would ask if you would kindly reconsider your review.

Total disregard for customers

Total disregard for customers. Rude and unprofessional. Misleading information on website about cancelling an order.
BEWARE.
The company has no contact telephone number. They state it could take up to 48 hours to respond to an email enquiry. ALARM BELLS!!!!
In short...... placed an order realised it was incorrect and 3 3/4 hours later cancelled (on a Sunday). Email to prove!
Chased the cancelled order on Monday to be advised it was dispatched already. (An actual untruth as my email was sent 2 hours before despatch, despatch label stated time it was sent).
Back and forth back and forth forwarding proof of order cancel asking for a return label.
They blocked my email as spam and continued to say they never received my cancellation email. (That's where the unprofessional comes in).
That's a brief description of the 7 days of pure hell. I was in fact going to order several more items from them as I'm finishing a rather large refurb. However this company clearly needs my money more than I do and I shan't be giving them anymore of it!
I'll just wait to see if I get an unpleasant reply trying to justify their behaviour like others have here.

Update after reply......
Number on website states for 'sale' only and not to call regarding anything but sales. To be honest not the easiest to find either!
I RE-sent you the email I sent to cancel my order 3 3/4 hours after I placed it on Sunday to prove I had sent a cancellation. Which you chose to ignore. I can't magic up an email it's there it's real and it's proof. So it was you who did not to read it. Not down to me, I sent it and like I said have proof of that. Which incidentally you ignored. I'm not the first on trust pilot to have this very same issue.
I forwarded screen shots of the time, date and content as well as forwarding it on to you as proof.
You did not try to help, you merely shut me down point blank and didn't try to work with me to resolve the issue of the return being my responsibility when clearly I cancelled in time.
Only one ticket came back as spam so if that's the case why didn't the first reply tickets not say spam?
I shan't waste anymore of my time with you over this matter. Your responses to customers are disgusting and I can't work with people/companies that won't even try to see their mistakes or look at the point of view of others.
You could have helped but you chose not to. This is appalling customer service which does not entice customers back!

I apologise you feel this way but I would like to just point out some issues which are blatantly untrue in this review.

- We are a bit confused what information is misleading on our website and all information available is accurate.
- We do in fact have a contact number available which is available on our support section of the site which is used specifically for sales purposes only so that is quite misleading stating we don't have a contact number
- Our lead times to reply to tickets within 48 hours is there to allow our customer service team to stay on top of tickets during a busy period so I am unsure how that would be something that should ring "alarm bells" as that is a standard time to respond emails.
- Your email was never marked as spam, when you place an order with us you get sent a confirmation email of your order, the confirmation emails all get marked as spam within our ticket desk and hence why it comes up as spam when you replied to one of the ticket threads you opened. That is nothing to do with your email being "blocked"

I do apologise that you feel this way but unfortunately there was nothing that we could do in this matter as all information needed that would have helped to get this resolved was all present on the site and also provided by our customer service team. It is unfortunate that you feel this way but our team done everything they can to help in this matter

Do not buy from this company

Do not buy from this company. Terrible customer service and a headache to deal with. Like many others have stated, they are definitely a shady company. After confirming details of a light before purchase, my light fitting arrived and was not suitable after I had specifically enquired with them before purchase. Through a PayPal dispute, they offered a refund on the return of the item (at my expense). After multiple delivery attempts, they have refused to accept the return item and have been deliberately difficult and as such I have not been refunded as I was promised. Furthermore, the business is located in Great Britain but are clearly marketed and advertised as an Australian business. Would give zero star if I could. Save yourself some trouble and do not buy from this company.

Be very careful I ordered from these…

Be very careful I ordered from these and cancelled the order within 10 minutes of putting it through as it was the wrong size. They won’t take the cancellation or don’t accept returns. Awful customer service team who just kept repeating the same thing over and over. I won’t order from them again just be wary. Everything on the site is on “ sale”. But they will not take back any sale item it makes no sense. And this is NOT clearly stated on their site. Stay away from them as you will get no joy on orders if you need help.
As an update the company said they would take the product back but wanted to keep 50% of the cost of the product. As I said numerous times I made a genuine mistake as the information was not clear. I will keep my lights and put them somewhere in my house and I won’t be returning to purchase from this company. I only got replies as I hounded them on Instagram. There initial reply was an Email with sorry but we won’t take them back it was your mistake and a lot of quoting terms and conditions. And also they don’t take phone calls only for sales not for customer service. My comments on Instagram were deleted on this topic

As explained via Instagram items were clearly marked as clearance and when placing the order it states that you agree to the terms and conditions set out on our site which are available at multiple points including checkout. This states that items marked as sale, made to order etc are not eligible for return.

To say that we do not accept returns is just blatantly not true as we have no issues accepting returns however items must be eligible for return as per the terms and conditions that you accepted. We offered a 50% refund on the items for returning them which we are not obliged to do again given the fact that you accepted the terms when purchasing the items at which stage you threatened to take the reviews further.

We do not condone this sort of behaviour in the slightest given the fact that our staff have attempted to help you with the mistake that you had made and it will not be tolerated. We tried to help you rectify the mistake which was not done by us only to receive further comments etc on our social media.

Stating that this information is not clearly stated is again extremely untrue. In the basket under the "Proceed to Payment" button is the following message "By clicking to proceed to payment, you confirm that you have read, understood and accept our Terms & Conditions" with the "Terms & Conditions" being a link to all of our conditions outlined and proceeding to payment confirms that you have read and accepted these conditions. Along with this there are multiple sections on our websites support section outlining all the information needed to process a return.

We have never stated that everything on our site is on "Sale" and as explained via the messages exchanged on Instagram the prices you see for the majority of products on our site are reduced from RRP but are not marked as sale/clearance, and there is no knowledge needed when it clearly states this information right under the price of the products.

It is also unfair to state that our customer service is "awful" given the fact that the team have tried their best to get the best possible solution for this issue and going outside of the terms and conditions to try and recoup some of the moneys involved in this transaction but that was refused.

DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY…. LOW QUALITY

I ordered a pendant lights that it doesn’t look like the photos. Really low quality. They don’t send any waybill number to return. The cost of the courier as a general public is way more expensive that for companies. It is more expensive to return the pendant lights that the price I actually paid. contacted customer service to use their courier but I didn’t get any help. AVOID THIS COMPANY

In response to your reply: you didn’t know why I want to return my item because you never asked. I just received a form from customer service … in the form I explained the reason I already wrote. You will not receive the form because to return I have to pay 800 AUD for a product cost me 750 and probably real value could be 300 because the quality is soo poor.

You should not advertise world wide. You company is not good enough and your customer service is worst. Your apologies do not resolve anything. You just stole 750 AUD from customer from overseas. And by reading others reviews I’m not the only one.

I have went through your correspondence with our customer service team and would like to address the things you have outlined above.

There was absolutely no mention in your thread that the items did not look like the photos at all so the item at that stage gets treated as unwanted.

You had requested that we provide our DHL account details for you to book the courier which for obvious reasons we would not do along with the fact that we do not have a DHL account, this was explained by one of our colleagues and that we use a broker for these services.

You were given all the information along with price comparison sites to try and use to get the best quote possible to return your item however this information does not seem to have been used.

I do apologise you feel this way but it is extremely unfair to blame us for something that is first of all out of our control and secondly not at our discretion to tackle. Providing any form of account information regardless of the context is a complete GDPR breach never mind other implications that this may have. I do apologise you feel this way but I hope that you reconsider your position on this
