Harris Balcombe have helped and supported me throughout a very difficult time for me from a fire at my property. From the initial visit from Martin, who quickly put my mind at rest, after having a conversation with him. I had no doubt that my situation would be taken care of. This gave me peace of mind which was very important to me from the shock of the incident and excessive damage.
My case was then passed on to the loss assessor Jonathan Ingham at Harris Balcombe who has been amazing throughout. Communication has been excellent. He has kept me informed every step of the way, and always been available for any queries large or small. The Care, Compassion and excellent service has been second to none. I would call them my 4th emergency service. Their involvement took a lot of pressure off me and honestly been the best decision Ive made, to have them deal with this for me at a traumatic time. Harris Balcombe and our loss assessor Samantha Hamer supported our insurance claim following a lightning strike and subsequent fire and flood. The claim was complex and made more difficult by a challenging loss adjuster. Realising that we would need support to navigate the process, we engaged HB who rose to the occasion, providing Surveyors and restoration response to assist us through every step. We were able to work with them and were consulted every step of the way. Samantha understood our frustration and no doubt experienced a great deal of difficulty herself as she tackled the loss adjuster head on to effect. This process was not stress free! However, 3 years on, supported by the FOS, we now have a satisfactory outcome. We do not believe that we could have achieved this conclusion without the support of Samantha and her resilient team. The week before the first COVID lockdown in March 2020 we had a major fire in our home. While the insurance company accepted it was a no fault claim they tried to argue that we were 50% underinsured and intended to apply averaging to our claim. After 3 months of trying to manage the claim myself and getting the run around by the loss adjuster and insurance company I was recommended to contact Alex Balcombe through a friend of a friend. Alex took on our case and immediately started to fight our corner. He guided us through the process for both the contents and building claims, and interfaced directly with the loss adjuster and insurance company in fighting the under insurance claim. When we finally needed to involve a legal firm Alex also advised a suitable legal firm to engage and after more than 4 years, and an overwhelmingly strong case with multiple independant surveyors rebuild estimates which Alex helped coordinate, the insurance company finally accepted to settle without discount.

Through what has been an incredibly stressful 4 years, I have found Alex's calm support and advise to be absolutely indespensible.

In December 2022, the water tank in our attic burst and flooded our house while we were away for Christmas. We had never made an insurance claim in our lives, and had trusted that the insurance company would take care of everything for us. How wrong we were!! Practically nothing happened for the following eight months, and the house was deteriorating rapidly. We were at the end of our tether.

Where to start?!

After a major flood at our business in July ‘23 we (wrongly) assumed plain sailing because we had insurance. After a horrendous experience with insurers loss adjustor we realised that we needed expert help. After the usual Dr Google check we decided to go with Harris Balcombe.

Thank god we did.

Insurers spent months messing around with liability, policy wordings and sums assured and it was solely the work from Chris Edmunds and Cranston Watts that navigated us through that period. Both were phenomenal in getting us the money we needed.

A very special mention has to go to Cranston who genuinely understood our personal situation and never stopped pushing for the outcome that we needed. He worked so hard, badgered those that needed badgering, leveraged anything he could and genuinely cared what happened. (@HB he needs a good pay rise!)

You might be thinking ‘why pay a fee’? - the insurers loss adjustor said the very same thing. Why? Because they don’t want you to use a firm like Harris Balcombe because it increases their liability significantly. They know they can get away with paying less without a good loss assessor like HB. Whatever these guys charge you you will absolutely receive far more than you would have done even with the fee paid!
