Avoid this company at all costs. There is useless and then there are haart. After a ridiculous amount of issues prior to moving in due to their awful partner for credit checks, I had to pay them a deposit on top of a deposit thru already received just to get the key release. I was promised they would refund Almost £2k, have it in writing and despite this they have refused to refund me, ignore email correspondence asking for the refund and claim they haven’t got the money. I’ll be going to their branch tomorrow to discuss this face to face, it seems to be the only way to speak to this awful organisation. If you want to rent or buy, go elsewhere

I have rented with Haart for the past 4 years in Hemel Hempstead, Kings Langley and Abbots Langley, Hertfordshire and had a very negative experience.

I am a reliable, good tenant and have always kept the properties I have lived in to a high standard, even going as far to improve them.

My main grievance is with the management team. Their lack of commutation after you have signed your tenancy contract is shocking. I am unable to get a hold of any member of staff and when contacting the sales agents, they offer no help whatsoever and revert you back to the management team.

My most recent experience was in my current property where on my move in date (which was signed and agreed by the landlord) I was refused entry into my new property by the cleaners stating that they were informed that I was not moving in until the week after. I provided proof of the tenancy agreement and email correspondence confirming the move in date only to be repeatedly told that I would not be allowed to enter the property by the cleaners. Having already packed up my belongings from my previous property, with them waiting outside in a moving van, I was unable to get through to anyone in the sales or management team, and had to call another Haart estate agent (Abbots Langley) to assist with the matter. Emily, the agent who I spoke with, was extremely helpful and I was grateful for her assistance that day. Having been informed by the agent the day before and the week leading up to my move in date, that I could move in at 10am, I was unable to gain access to the property until 4pm.

I have had to contact contractors myself to fix any issue in my properties, there have been several incidents including, being left 3 months without warm water and one more notable incident involving my living room door jamming shut. I was unable to open the door, leaving my 3 year old daughter on one side and myself on the other unable to open it. If I did not have the foresight to give my partner a spare key, and also bring my mobile into the living room with me, I dread to think what would have happened as at the time we lived on the 4th floor of a 6 floor building. I had already discussed the door with the agent prior to moving in and contacted the management team several times asking for the door to be fixed. I paid a contractor myself to shave the door and my only means of getting in touch with my landlord to report the incident was through the building manager of the property I lived in.

I email and leave voicemails only to be ignored and then left to continuously contact them until I have an answer.

Haart is only interested in speaking with you when it financially benefits them.

I would urge anyone to consider before renting with Haart in the Hemel Hempstead, Abbots Langley, Leavesden, Garston and Watford area, to do your homework and also point out that there are some good, decent honest agents in the area who are still willing to help.

I registered an interest to view a rental property on their website on 1 Nov and followed it up with a phone call the following morning. I was told my enquiry was being passed to the relevant person. I added some more personal details via email to their Hemel Hempstead email address late the same day as I only had a limited timetable to view the property. To date I have had no contact, over 3 weeks later.
The property is still being advertised on their website.

I am sitting with the exact same situation as Ms J Keery mentioned (14 Nov 2023). I terminated my contract with them and despite Haart admitting that they have not fulfilled their service obligations, they are trying to charge me 6 weeks rental +Vat as a severance fee...less a nominal gesture of goodwill, which is laughable considering what I have put up with over the past 16 months. Haart tells me their lack of communication and not responding to repair requests does not constitute a breach.... If them not doing what I am paying them to do, does not constitute a breach, then what on earth does?!
I have escalated my complaint to the Property Ombudsman. I have been paying Haart commission for 16 months now, but pretty much have had to self-manage my property as their communication and service levels are so bad. It is a constant battle with them and I cannot emphasise the amount of stress and frustration. Even my tenants are fed up using them.
I would not recommend them at all. Do not believe the promises they sell you.

I am a landlord and Haarts currently has full management of my 4-bed property in Abbots Langley. I must say that I am completely dissatisfied with the services received from the Hemel Hempstead branch to date. The agents whom I so far dealt with (3 in total) have been treating us unprofessionally and in some cases their advice for certain repairs would have costed me triple the amount of money I eventually paid, if it wasn't for me to request quotes from trades independently. In addition, they have not been organised enough to keep receipts for repairs they arranged with the tenant directly which meant I could not submit them during my self-assessment. It's a complete nightmare to deal with these people and although I have listed a number of reasons I wish to terminate my contract with them (due to things they are not doing right and which I have evidence for) they still ask for a full year's worth of fees paid! Zero communication whilst I have chased on a number of occasions and this whole experience has caused me a lot of stress. Avoid for your own wellbeing.

Jake and Ryan from the Hemel branch are very understanding, patient and polite. Ryan was extremely patient to answer our questions. We faced an unexpected issue on our first day and Jake wasn't hesitant to help at all. They are cooperative, understanding and most importantly are empathetic.

Called in and spoke to a lovely lady called Kyisha who was able to deal with my queries efficiently and professionally and in a very friendly manner.

Am very happy that I have taken my business to Haart letting and have been looked after at the highest level.

A special mention to Rebecca and Jake who have been my knights in shining armour to rescue me from a terrible situation and have taken over the management of the house.
